Commentary

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
Newcastle remain winless in the league so far and they sit 19th in the table ahead of a trip to Crystal Palace next weekend. Meanwhile Tottenham move up to fifth and they will face West Ham United next time out in the Premier League.
Tottenham make it back-to-back league wins to spoil the party at St James’ Park. They came from behind in the first-half to lead 3-1 at the break, after Wilson had fired the hosts ahead. However, goals from Ndombele, Kane and Son made it a comfortable for Spurs at half-time. The visitors dominated much of the second period but couldn’t score a fourth, despite countless attacks. It went from bad to worse for Newcastle late on, as Shelvey was shown a second yellow card and given his marching orders. However, there was a late revival as Dier put the ball into the back of his own net to make it 3-2, but Spurs held on for the victory.
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: NEWCASTLE 2-3 TOTTENHAM
Joelinton
Yellow Card
90' + 4' Joelinton is the latest to be booked after he fouls Ndombele out of frustration in the middle of the pitch.
90' + 2' Is there enough time left on the clock for Newcastle to push forward and get a late equaliser? It'll be a tough ask as they are a man down.
90' There will be a minimum of four minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
E. Dier
Own Goal
89' OWN GOAL! It's 3-2! Dier puts the ball into the back of his own net and it hands Newcastle a great opportunity late on! Murphy whipped a deep free-kick into the penalty area and Dier went to head it clear, but instead it strikes his knee and flies past Lloris, who was unable to keep it out.
87' Tottenham have lost their last two away league games, going down 3-0 at Crystal Palace and 3-1 at Arsenal. So they will be very happy to get a win away on the road.
85' There's only five minutes, plus any additional time to be added on left to play here. It doesn't look like Newcastle are going to be able to get back into this one and Spurs should see the game out.
83' RED CARD! Shelvey is shown a second yellow for a clear foul on Reguilon as the Spurs left-back sprinted through on goal and Shelvey brought him down in order to prevent a goalscoring chance. The midfielder has only been on the pitch for 23 minutes after coming off the bench and was shown his first yellow card five minutes ago. Newcastle have to play the final minutes with 10 players.
82' Tottenham still haven't made a change, but they are controlling proceedings and look very strong in all areas of the pitch. Kane and Son are still lively in attack, eager to get a fourth.
80' VAR review! The officials are taking a look at a possible handball by Ritchie, as the ball does seem to strike his arm, but his back is turned. Nothing is given.
79' PENALTY SHOUT! Hojbjerg whips a cross into the penalty area, but Ritchie gets across and makes the block. However, it looks like he does this with his arm and the Spurs players appeal for a penalty. Nothing is given on the pitch, but VAR will take a look.
J. Shelvey
Yellow Card
78' Another booking now, with Shelvey shown a yellow card after he lashes out at Ndombele after the Spurs midfielder skipped past him.
J. Murphy
J. Willock
77' The other change sees Willock come off the pitch and he has been replaced by Murphy.
R. Fraser
C. Wilson
77' Newcastle make a double change, with Wilson one of those coming off and he has been replaced by Fraser.
75' Another Spurs corner now as Kane skips past two Newcastle defenders in the box and Son will whip this into the penalty area. They've looked dangerous from set pieces so far today.
73' Newcastle need to try and get Saint-Maximin on the ball a bit more often, as he hasn't been involved much in the second half. It looks like a couple more changes are required by the hosts.
71' Son reluctantly puts the ball out of play as his team-mate Romero was down in the box with an injury. However, the centre-back doesn't require any treatment and play will continue.
70' Tottenham have lost just one of their last 18 Premier League games against sides starting the day in the relegation zone (W13 D4), though that defeat did come against Newcastle (0-1 in August 2019).
I. Hayden
Yellow Card
68' Hayden is booked after he drags Lucas to the ground, after the Spurs winger skipped past him and looked to break forward on the counter.
66' Newcastle are starting to leave gaps at the back as they try and break forward on the counter, so Spurs may be able to get a fourth goal if they can exploit this.
Emerson
Yellow Card
64' Emerson is booked for a challenge that happened a few moments ago, but the referee allowed play to continue as Newcastle had the advantage.
64' PENALTY SHOUT! Willock tries to sprint past Romero in the penalty area and the Spurs centre-back catches him with his arm and Willock goes to ground appealing for a penalty. However, there was hardly any contact and the referee waves away his appeals.
62' There isn't much pace to Newcastle's game as we pass the hour mark, they can't find a way through the Tottenham midfield and look short of ideas.
60' Decent chance! Kane switches the ball well and finds Ndombele down the left wing, who cuts inside and then fires a powerful effort towards goal. However, it flies well wide of the Newcastle goal.
J. Shelvey
S. Longstaff
60' Here is the first Newcastle substitution of the game, with Longstaff heading off and he has been replaced by Shelvey, who has been on the sidelines with an injury.
58' The visitors look very content to sit back and allow Newcastle to have the ball in front of them, as they aren't getting into the final third and they don't look like testing Lloris.
56' Surely Bruce will need to start thinking about making some changes soon as Newcastle look short of ideas and don't look like getting back into the game at the moment.
C. Clark
Yellow Card
54' Clark is the second Newcastle player to be booked after his late challenge on Kane down the left wing.
52' The atmosphere inside St James' Park is very different to how it was at the beginning of the game, with the Spurs supporters making their voices heard high up in stands.
50' Tottenham dropped four points from winning positions against Newcastle in the Premier League last season, with the Magpies netting 90th and 85th minute equalisers in the two games to draw.
48' Tottenham are once again on top following the restart, they look in complete control and are finding plenty of time and space to exploit in the Newcastle half.
46' The second half is under way!
The game isn't going the way the new owners will have hoped, despite such a positive opening period for the hosts. They have it all to do to get back into this one, with Spurs well on top.
Newcastle got off to a great start, as Wilson fired them ahead after just two minutes, but Tottenham rallied and equalised through Ndombele. Spurs then had a goal ruled out, after Kane was ruled offside, but VAR had a look and overturned the decision, so the goal was allowed to stand and they led 2-1. We then had a long stoppage in play as medical staff attended to a supporter in the stands who was in a very serious condition. However, after play resumed Tottenham played well and Son converted from close range to make it 3-1 at the break.
45' + 9' HALF-TIME: NEWCASTLE 1-3 TOTTENHAM
45' + 7' The Spurs players aren't very happy as Newcastle failed to kick the ball out of play after Emerson went down with an injury. The medical team are now on pitch giving him some treatment, but he should be fine to continue.
45' + 5' Decent chance! Saint-Maximin cuts inside from the left wing and skips past a couple of Spurs defenders, before firing an effort towards goal. However, it flies just wide.
H. Kane
Assist
45' + 3' It's a goal and an assist now for Kane, who could have gone for goal himself after being played through on goal, but Son was in a much better position and he picks him out perfectly.
Son Heung-Min
Goal
45' + 3' GOAL! TOTTENHAM MAKE IT 3-1! Spurs have started well since the restart and Son fires in a third goal. Lucas does brilliantly on the edge of the box to find Kane in behind the Newcastle defence and the striker then slides it across goal for Son to fire in from close range. He simply couldn’t miss from there!
45' + 3' Good stuff from Tottenham, they have dominated since the game resumed and they are the team on top. Can they get a third before the break?
45' + 1' We're now back under way, with Spurs starting with a corner which Son is going to whip into the penalty area. However, Newcastle clear the danger.
45' The players are coming back out on the pitch now as the supporter in the stands has been transported to an ambulance to receive further treatment. The teams are going to warm-up for a couple of minutes before playing the additional time at the end of the first half.
45' The game has been suspended by the referee and the players and officials are heading down the tunnel. More updates as they come in.
45' There will be a minimum of seven minutes added time played at the end of the first half. However, that may be longer as it looks very serious in the stands. Dier and Skipp sprinted across the pitch to get the doctor across the pitch.
43' The game remains on pause at the moment, as a supporter is attended to in the stands. Tottenham lead 2-1 here, coming from behind to hold the advantage as we head towards the break.
41' The referee is taking the players off the pitch as there has been a medical emergency in the stands, with the players from both sides alerting the referee to the situation. It looks very serious, so they are letting the medical staff do their job.
40' OFF THE BAR! Son whips a brilliant corner into the box and it is met by the head of Lucas at the near post, who glances it towards the top left corner of the net. However, it strikes the top of the crossbar! So close to a third goal.
38' Tottenham look the more likely to score again before the break, working the ball well in the final third, but they haven't been able to test Darlow in goal.
36' The game is very open at the moment, with both teams pushing forward quickly in search of another goal and it's end-to-end at times.
S. Longstaff
Yellow Card
34' Longstaff is the first player to be booked after his late challenge on Lucas. The midfielder had already been warned by the referee earlier about a similar challenge.
32' Another stoppage now as Reguilon and Joelinton are down receiving some treatment, with the Spurs left-back suffering a head injury. However, both should be fine to continue shortly.
31' ALMOST! Wilson could have gone for goal himself as he gets into the penalty area, but instead tries to find Saint-Maximin in the six-yard box. However, Reguilon tracks back brilliantly and stops the Newcastle man from reaching it.
30' Newcastle are trying to break forward on the counter-attack when they can, especially with the pace of Wilson and Saint-Maximin, but it's just not quite working for them at the moment.
28' Six of Kane’s seven Premier League goals for Tottenham against Newcastle have now come at St James’ Park. He’s only scored more away goals against Leicester (8) and Everton (7) in the competition than he has against the Magpies.
26' Stoppage in play here as Ndombele collides with Lucas in midfield and the Spurs man requires some medical treatment. The physios are on the pitch, but it looks like he will be fine to continue.
24' Tottenham will be very thankful of VAR as it looked like Kane had drifted offside, but the replays show he just managed to stay onside and Spurs have come from behind to take the lead.
P. Højbjerg
Assist
22' Kane has attempted to make this run a couple of times already, but the goal is the first time anyone has looked up and spotted it. Hojbjerg perfectly chipped it over the top of the Newcastle defence for the striker, who made no mistakes with the finish.
H. Kane
Goal
22' GOAL! TOTTENHAM LEAD! VAR have overruled the original offside decision and Kane's goal is allowed to stand! Manquillo is the man that fails to get out quickly enough and he keeps Kane onside as he made his run behind the Newcastle defence, following a ball over the top by Hojbjerg. Kane then flicks it over Darlow as he rushes out to meet him and it finds the back of the net.
22' GOAL RULED OUT! Kane has the ball in the back of the net after a long ball over the top of the Newcastle defence by Hojbjerg and the striker then produces a fine finish to chip it over Darlow and into the back of the net. However, the offside flag is quick to go up and it is ruled out. However, VAR will take a look.
20' Decent chance! Lascelles rises highest as a corner is whipped into the box from the left and the Newcastle skipper powers a header towards goal. However, he gets too much on it and the ball flies over the bar.
19' It is the Tottenham supporters you can hear inside the stadium now, as Spurs have managed to quieten the home crowd in the last few minutes and have a foothold in the game.
Reguilón
Assist
17' Spurs worked it well into the final third and Reguilon was given far too much time and space to pick out Ndombele in a good position, who superbly finished.
T. Ndombèlé
Goal
17' GOAL! TOTTENHAM ARE LEVEL! Ndombele finds the equaliser and makes it 1-1! Reguilon cuts inside from the left wing and finds Ndomeble on the edge of the penalty area and he produces a superb finish, firing the ball into the top right corner of the net. Tottenham are back in it!
15' Good move by Spurs! Ndombele picks out Lucas deep down the right and he takes a touch in the box and then tries to find a team-mate with a cross. However, his ball is really poor and it misses everyone, flying out of play. Wasted opportunity.
13' Hojbjerg manages to find some time and space around 30 yards out and he doesn't have much else on, so fires a low effort towards goal. However, it lacks the pace to beat Darlow, who makes a comfortable save.
11' Today's game is Bruce’s 1000th game in charge across his managerial career (W376 D254 L369). He’s won just four of his 26 encounters with Spurs in all competitions (D9 L13), with each victory coming in the Premier League with a different club (Birmingham, Wigan, Sunderland, Newcastle).
9' It hasn't been the best of starts for Tottenham, they are having to sit deep to defend early on as Newcastle look bright and threatening in attack.
7' Good move! Ritchie and Joelinton link up well down the left wing, playing a quick one-two, with Ritchie getting in behind the Spurs defence. However, he can't find a cross and the chance goes away.
6' Newcastle look very confident in these opening few minutes, playing it nicely around the pitch with enthusiasm and intent, with Tottenham unable to get a grip of the game.
4' The atmosphere is electric inside St James' Park, with the new owners presented to the crowd prior to kick-off and the early goal has put the supporters in high spirits.
Javi Manquillo
Assist
2' Manquillo sprinted forward from deep and provided the option for Saint-Maximin on the overlap, which opened Tottenham up down the wing and the right-back delivered a lovely cross for Wilson to convert.
C. Wilson
Goal
2' GOAL! NEWCASTLE TAKE THE LEAD! What a start to the game by Newcastle, they lead 1-0! They work it really well in the final third, switching it from left to right and Saint-Maximin lays it off to Manquillo on the overlap, who whips a cross into the box, which is met by the head of Wilson and he powers it into the back of the net. The striker wasn’t going to miss from there!
1' We're under way!
The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!
Meanwhile Nuno Espirito Santo sticks to the same starting XI that beat Aston Villa last time out, with Kane and Son linking up once again in attack, alongside Lucas and Ndombele.
Bruce has made two changes to his starting line-up, with Lascelles and Wilson coming into the side and they have replaced Fernandez and Miguel Almiron.
TOTTENHAM SUBS: Bryan Gil, Davinson Sanchez, Pierluigi Gollini, Japhet Tanganga, Ben Davies, Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks, Dele Alli, Steven Bergwijn.

Meanwhile Tottenham ended their three-game losing streak last time out, having suffered defeats against Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal. They managed to beat Aston Villa 2-1 two weeks ago and they sit 10th in the table.
The takeover of Newcastle was finally completed over the international break and with Mike Ashley’s reign now over, it has got the supporters extremely excited about the future of the club. However, it has led to rumours over Steve Bruce’s future as the manager, with several big names linked to the top job. The new owners will be keen to see their side pick up their first victory of the season today, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Wolves last time out, to leave them 18th in the table, with just three points so far.
