Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Liverpool face Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final clash, needing to overturn a three-goal deficit, on Tuesday at Anfield. Newcastle end their Premier League campaign on the road next week against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Liverpool earn a huge victory over Newcastle United this evening, moving back to the top of the Premier League table by two points ahead of Manchester City. The Reds were forced to dig deep after their midweek loss to Barcelona in the Champions League. They went ahead in the early stages of the contest through Virgil van Dijk, only to be pegged back by Christian Atsu. Mohamed Salah restored their lead, but Salomon Rondon responded for the hosts after the interval. Salah then suffered a worrying head injury that ruled him out of the contest with 20 minutes remaining. He was stretchered from the field and could be a doubt for the Champions League return leg against Barcelona. However, his replacement this evening Divock Origi rose to the occasion for the Reds, heading home Xherdan Shaqiri's free-kick to secure a vital three points. It's over to Manchester City on Monday in their clash against Leicester City, but the title race is heading down to the final game of the season.
90' + 8' Last chance for Newcastle in the dying minutes as the home side throw men forward.
90' + 7' Dubravka launches the ball forward and Rondon believes that he has nodded the ball on fairly in a duel with Van Dijk, but the referee blows for a foul against the forward.
90' + 7' Newcastle win a corner down the right flank and Ki swings the ball into the box. However, Alisson comes off his line and makes a vital punch away for the visitors.
90' + 6' Origi has a chance to get up the field, but he loses out, conceding a throw-in down the left flank. Liverpool need cool heads now.
90' + 4' BLOCK! Rondon lines up the free-kick and goes for the blast at goal, only to smash his attempt straight into the wall.
J. Milner
Yellow Card
90' + 2' Milner makes two challenges to stop a Newcastle counter and gets booked for the second one - a lunge on Atsu. Newcastle have a free-kick 35 yards from goal. Fortunately for the Reds, they don't have Messi in their ranks.
90' + 2' Sturridge feeds Robertson down the flank, but the cutback from the Scot evades Mane and Origi in the middle.
Y. Muto
F. Schär
90' + 1' Schar makes way for Muto as Benitez chases an equaliser late in the contest.
90' There will be a minimum of eight minutes added time.
88' Liverpool have the goal and now need to see out a nervy period, including a great deal of added time following Salah's head injury.
87' Newcastle have conceded 98 Premier League goals against Liverpool, more than against any other side.
X. Shaqiri
86' Shaqiri puts the ball on the money and allows Origi to head home a vital goal.
D. Origi
86' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! ORIGI SCORES!! LIVERPOOL LEAD AGAIN! 3-2! What a moment in the title race this could be as Origi heads home the free-kick. It is Shaqiri that delivers the ball into the box and he whips his cross towards the near post. Origi rises with Lascelles, guiding the ball over Dubravka into the net. It may have deflected off the Newcastle defender last, but the Belgian and his team-mates will not care. The Reds score a huge goal in their pursuit of the Premier League crown.
85' Ritchie gives away a foul on Fabinho in a dangerous position. Liverpool have a free-kick on the right flank that Alexander-Arnold will deliver into the box, although Shaqiri is also over the ball.
84' The ball falls kindly for Atsu in the final third, but he cannot force a cross towards Perez in the middle, allowing Alisson to gather.
J. Milner
D. Lovren
83' Milner replaces Lovren for Liverpool as Klopp takes resources out of his backline to push men forward.
82' Patience and composure is required from the visitors now. The pressure is on Liverpool to conjure a moment of magic to keep them ahead of City in the title race.
80' Ritchie fires a cross into the middle from the left flank that almost reaches Atsu, but Alisson is sharp off his line to punch the ball away.
78' Liverpool are struggling to gain their rhythm without Salah. Fabinho plays a loose pass out to Henderson that goes out of play in the Newcastle half.
76' It has been a stop-start period of the game as Perez goes down, clutching his head, although he gets to his feet. There will be a lot of added time in this one.
75' Another stoppage as Ki gets a knock in the face from Sturridge. It was completely accidental, but there's another break in play.
74' We're back underway at St James' Park.
D. Origi
Mohamed Salah
73' A huge concern for Liverpool as Salah is stretchered from the field. Hopefully it's not too serious. Origi replaces the forward.
70' The stretcher has been called for Salah. It does not look good for the forward's prospects of continuing this evening.
68' A worrying moment for Liverpool as Dubravka wipes out Salah when leaving his line to punch a cross clear from the box. The forward stays down and requires treatment on the pitch.
66' Rondon runs into space down the left before working the ball back to Ritchie to supply a cross. The wing-back picks out Atsu in the middle, but he directs his header wide of the target.
X. Shaqiri
G. Wijnaldum
66' Wijnaldum is withdrawn for Shaqiri for the visitors.
64' Rondon has netted three goals in four home league appearances against Liverpool.
63' Robertson surges down the left and winds up a low cross into the box with power. Henderson tries to connect on the slide, but he fails to make contact in the middle.
62' BLOCK! Perez twists and turns his way into the left inside channel. He tries to work space to fire an effort at goal, but he smashes his strike against a wall of red shirts.
60' The Magpies are rocking all over the field now, pushing men forward to get at the visitors. Liverpool are in a scrap to get the three points this evening.
58' Liverpool have to find their rhythm once again in the second half. Both teams will continue to get chances with the contest remaining an open affair.
56' Rondon has scored 10 Premier League goals in a season for the first time.
Javi Manquillo
54' Manquillo guides the ball into the path of Rondon, who hammers his strike into the back of the net.
S. Rondón
54' GOALLLLLLLLLLL!!!! RONDON FIRES HOME!! NEWCASTLE 2-2!!! The Magpies are level for the second time of the match as Rondon scores a sublime effort on the half-volley. Liverpool are unable to clear their lines from a corner from Ki. Manquillo helps the ball back into the middle where Rondon connects with a left-footed strike. He powers his effort into the bottom corner leaving Alisson with no chance.
53' Atsu bursts down the left flank and he supplies a cross deep to the back post where Robertson has to head behind for a Newcastle corner.
52' Robertson charges forward down the left flank and he cuts the ball back for Henderson to strike. He connects with his effort, but there are two Newcastle defenders well placed on the line.
51' CHANCE! Robertson wins the ball in the final third for the visitors. He offloads back to Wijnaldum on the charge, who tees up Sturridge for a strike, only for the forward to blaze his attempt well over the bar. It was a poor strike by the Liverpool forward.
50' SAVE! Rondon collects on the edge of the Liverpool box before turning and firing a low strike towards goal, but Alisson gets down to make the stop.
48' Salah lines up an effort at goal from the edge of the box, only to plant his effort harmlessly wide of the post.
47' Lascelles makes a vital header in the Newcastle box to head Robertson's cross behind and away from the lurking presence of Sturridge at the back post.
46' We're back underway at St James' Park.
The game has been played a quick pace from the first whistle. Both teams are playing open football, which has resulted in chances at both ends. Liverpool have the edge, taking two of their opportunities. However, Jurgen Klopp will be slightly concerned that the Magpies have been a threat in the final third almost every time they've pushed forward, especially Salomon Rondon. The contest remains in the balance heading into the second half.
Liverpool hold a 2-1 lead at the break over Newcastle in their Premier League clash at St James' Park. The Reds took the lead through Virgil van Dijk when the Dutchman was afforded a free header in the box from a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner. Newcastle hit back when Christian Atsu equalised from close range after a scramble in the box where Alexander-Arnold may have handled the ball on the line. Mohamed Salah responded in turn when he steered Alexander-Arnold's cross into the net to ensure that Liverpool carried a one-goal advantage into the interval.

45' There will be two minutes of added time.

37' Rondon is played into acres of space by Ritchie, but the offside flag goes up against the Newcastle forward.
36' This contest has the pace of a basketball game, moving from one end to the other at speed. It may suit the visitors due to the potency of their forwards in the final third.
34' OVER! Salah wins possession for his team in the Newcastle half and offloads towards Sturridge. The striker shifts the ball on to his left foot to shoot for the top corner, but he blazes his attempt over the bar.
32' SAVE! Dubravka denies Mane from close range. Salah opens up the Newcastle defence with a throughball into the inside right channel. The Senegalese takes on the strike first time, but the Newcastle keeper makes the stop with his legs.
30' It has been a frenetic game as matches between these two clubs always tend to be. Klopp's men have the lead, but neither side have control of this one.
Mohamed Salah
28' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! SALAH RESTORES LIVERPOOL'S LEAD!!!! 2-1!! The Reds ride out the storm and are back in front through Salah. Alexander-Arnold whips a low cross into the middle from the right flank. Salah pulls away from his man and guides a right-footed effort beyond the reach of Dubravka into the bottom corner. A precise finish from the forward to calm the Liverpool nerves.
T. Alexander-Arnold
28' Alexander-Arnold collects Sturridge's backheel and supplies a pinpoint cross for Salah to steer into the back of the net.

C. Atsu
20' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! ATSU EQUALISES!!! 1-1!!! Atsu plants the ball home for Newcastle after a scramble in the box. Manquillo is afforded space and time down the right flank and he digs out a threatening cross. Ritchie connects, but scuffs his drive at goal. Rondon is the next to shoot, only to be denied by Alexander-Arnold on the line - perhaps with an arm. The referee waves play on and Atsu takes on the next strike, firing his effort into the back of the net. Game on.
19' Lovren plays a shaky backpass towards Alisson and the Liverpool keeper does just enough to keep Newcastle at bay. Fabinho manages to complete the clearance for the visitors.
17' Liverpool have the early goal to control proceedings. They can play the game at their pace now.
15' Liverpool have scored more Premier League goals from set-pieces (excluding penalties) than any other team this season (21).
V. van Dijk
13' GOALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! VAN DIJK HEADS LIVERPOOL IN FRONT!!! 1-0!!! The Reds take the lead through an emphatic header from Van Dijk. Alexander-Arnold whips the ball into the box with pace from the corner. A slip by Lascelles allows Van Dijk a free run at the ball and he makes no mistake thumping his header past Dubravka from close range.
T. Alexander-Arnold
13' Alexander-Arnold sends a fine cross into the box for Van Dijk to head home.
12' BLOCK! Mane digs out a cross into the middle and Salah connects with a strike that is diverted behind for a corner by Dummett.
11' WIDE! Schar gives the ball away to Wijnaldum, who tees up Robertson for a cross to the back post. Sturridge and Salah appear to get in the way of each other, but Salah still manages to get away a strike that goes wide of the post.
9' Manquillo takes a risk at the back to clear a bouncing ball ahead of Mane. He connects with his head after the fact, but the referee waves play on.
8' Robertson charges forward down the left inside channel and he tries to fire a low ball into the box, only to see his attempt blocked by Manquillo.
7' Sturridge tries to combine with Salah in the box, but once again the presence of Lascelles is there to disrupt the attack.
5' Salah probes on the edge of the box, but he loses out to Lascelles with a vital challenge.
2' Atsu has a raid down the left flank, but his cross into the box is gathered with ease by Alisson.
1' We're underway at St James' Park.
Newcastle United have only lost one of their last seven home Premier League games against Liverpool (0-6 in April 2013), winning four and drawing the other two.
Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Henderson and Sturridge all start for Liverpool tonight in four changes from the team that was beaten by Barca. Gomez, Milner and Matip drop to the bench, while Naby Keita misses out due to injury.
Newcastle have made two changes to their side that draw last time out against Brighton. Lascelles comes back into the fold at the expense of Fernandez, while Ki is preferred to Shelvey in the middle of the park.

Liverpool were on the receiving end of a Lionel Messi special during the week in their defeat to Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash. The Reds played well at Camp Nou, but were undone by the brilliance of the Argentine and a strike from former player Luis Suarez. Jurgen Klopp cannot let that loss affect his players in their bid to secure the Premier League crown. They're unbeaten in their last 15 league games, winning seven on the bounce. Liverpool cannot afford to falter this evening.
Newcastle secured their place in the Premier League over the last three weeks. The Magpies delivered wins over Leicester City and Southampton to take them over the line. Rafael Benitez's men claimed a 1-1 draw last time out against Brighton and Hove Albion, and have momentum to take into tonight's clash. Benitez will have mixed emotions facing his former club, knowing that a positive result for the Magpies will put a major dent in Liverpool's title hopes.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Newcastle and Liverpool at St James' Park.
