That's all from us, we'll see you for the next game. Until then, goodbye!
That victory sees Newcastle leapfrog Palace to move up to 11th in the table, and in doing so win six consecutive home matches for the first time since the era of the great Sir Bobby Robson. Palace, meanwhile, drop to 14th, but their second-half performance showed just how threatening they can be in pursuit of further points before the season ends.
Guimaraes was without doubt Newcastle's stand-out player in this match, setting up the winner and making two key passes. He completed more touches and passes, and more accurately, than all of his teammates, and won the ball nine teams, including via three interceptions and being fouled four times. What a performance from the Brazilian, who has set St. James' Park alight since his January arrival.
The match ends, and Newcastle hold on for the victory! Their attacking first-half performance, which brought that magnificent Almiron goal, gave way to a snatch-and-grab second-half in which Palace peppered Dubravka's goal, but the Magpies stood tall to hold on for their sixth consecutive home win!
S. Longstaff
Bruno Guimarães
90' + 4' Newcastle make a late change as Guimaraes comes off for Sean Longstaff.
90' + 3' OVER!!! Forward come Palace for one last chance, and a headed clearance comes to McArthur. He tees up Zaha, who cuts inside and curls a shot that just misses the top corner by millimetres!
90' + 2' Guimaraes taps the ball between Mitchell and McArthur and goes down after being sandwiched between the two, with the Magpies in no hurry to take the free-kick quickly.
90' + 1' We're into three minutes of added time to close out this game, with Palace desperate to snatch a point or three here.
89' A long clearance from Newcastle almost puts Willock in the clear with Palace players camped in the Magpies' half, but Guaita sprints way out fo his box to hoof it out ahead of Willock.
87' A Newcastle ball-boy takes an age to give Krafth the ball to take a throw, but at this late stage the Magpies' right-back doesn't mind, and nor do the supporters!
85' Forward come Palace as Edouard feeds Clyne on the right-wing. He crosses, but it's glanced away by Burn and Newcastle survive again!
83' Guimaraes brings it out from the back and goes down under very little pressure from Schlupp. The referee does give the free-kick, allowing Newcastle a bit of respite.
82' Mitchell evades Schar to put Mateta into space on the byline, but the box is flooded with black and white shirts, and Mateta's cut-back is intercepted.
80' Mateta crosses from the left, but Edouard's header glances wide. Ayew picks it up and has options in the box, but sends a cross over everyone's heads and out for a throw-in.
79' Saint-Maximin's 76-minute performance featured 11 take-ons, but the Frenchman only won just over half of them, having only one shot on target and losing possession 11 times as well.
J. Willock
M. Almirón
77' Almiron is still the game's sole goalscorer, but he's had a much quieter second half and he comes off for Joe Willock.
J. Murphy
A. Saint-Maximin
76' Saint-Maximin's been at his flamboyant best in this game, but without the end product, and he comes off for Jacob Murphy.
76' Mateta strides forward through the middle, but his wide ball to Edouard down the right floats over his head and out, over the touchline.
74' Andersen crosses to the back post where Edouard is waiting, but he can't generate much power with his header, and Dubravka collects it.
73' Mateta chases down Burn and forces the centre-back into conceding a corner, as Palace line up yet another scoring chance.
72' McArthur crosses first-time into the box, where Mateta rises highest and heads the ball over the bar from 12 yards!
71' The corner breaks to Andersen on the edge of Newcastle's box, but Guimaraes pinches his pockdt and sets off up the field! Zaha gets back to win the ball back, and the counter-attack from Edouard wins a corner!
69' Schar's all over Zaha as he looks to dribble in-field, and the Palace forward is brought to ground before protesting for further action to be taken against the Magpies defender.
67' Saint-Maximin turns his back to goal with the ball again as he looks to set off on another run, but he's quickly brought to ground by Ayew and wins a free-kick.
66' Zaha takes on his man again and looks to tee up Mitchell on his outside, but Guimaraes is back to dispossess him and win it back for Newcastle!
65' WIDE!!! Edouard intercepts a Newcastle pass and tees up Zaha, but the Ivorian drags his shot just inches wide of the far post!!! What a chance that was!!
63' The Eagles' corner wreaks havoc in the Newcastle box, with Andersen and Mateta both denied by blocks before it's hoofed clear!
62' Mateta almost has a clear run through on goal, but Burn sticks out a leg to knock the ball behind for a Palace corner.
61' After some risky passing at the back forces a rushed Guaita clearance, Newcastle come straight back and Saint-Maximin dribbles into the box, before losing his balance and then the ball.
J. Mateta
C. Gallagher
60' Gallagher is also replaced, with Jean-Philippe Mateta coming on for him in attack.
J. McArthur
C. Kouyaté
60' Palace make a double substitution, as Kouyate comes off for James McArthur.
59' Saint-Maximin chases Targett's long ball down the line, but fouls Andersen in the process and concedes a free-kick.
58' Guehi has really stepped up at the back for Palace, with the Eagles captain completing two blocks and three clearances, as well as winning the ball five times. He's also completed more touches and passes than any other Palace player, and won all of his duels. Leader.
56' Wood turns on the edge of the Palace box and looks to play in Almiron, but it's blocked by Guehi and the away side will look to counter.
55' A wayward Kouyate shot finds its way to Zaha, who looks to turn away from Krafth but loses his balance, allowing the ball to go behind for a goal kick.
53' Zaha puts Mitchell into space down the left, but Schar steps in to cut out the pass. The flag's up anyway against the Palace left-back, as he and his teammates continue to produce little in the final third.
52' Newcastle have won eight of their 13 Premier League matches in 2022, as many as they won in 42 attempts in 2021. This year, only Liverpool (32) and Spurs (27) have won more points than the Magpies’ 26.
50' Joelinton goes down but Palace play on, and despite the booing of the crowd, do so until their chance breaks down and play stops so the Newcastle midfielder can receive treatment.
48' OVER!!! Targett's free-kick is swung into the box, finding Joelinton at the back post. He heads the ball downward, causing it to bounce up and over the crossbar!
47' BLOCKED!!! Saint-Maximin dispossesses Ayew, turns and accelerates away down the left. He links up with Wood in support, who eventually finds Almiron, and his first-time effort is blocked!!
46' Shelvey resumes proceedings for Newcastle, and the second half kicks off!
The teams head back out for the second half, and the home fans will be hoping Newcastle can finish the job in the next 45 minutes!
Almiron's goal was one of six shots, three of which were on target. All of his passes have been in Palace's half, as have his duels, and the fluid movement of Saint-Maximin has allowed him to reign supreme down the right so far.
Newcastle enter half-time with a slender lead, thanks to that wonder-strike from Almiron! That outstanding finish from the Paraguayan was the only real moment of quality in the half, as Newcastle had a host of half-chances. Palace have offered much, much less, and need to improve if they're to reverse this 1-0 deficit.
C. Gallagher
Yellow Card
45' + 2' Gallagher shoves over Guimaraes long after he's passed the ball, and is needlessly booked. That's his 20th yellow card since the start of the 2020-21 season.
45' + 2' Joelinton drives at the Palace defence and shoots from the edge of this box, but it's blocked. Almiron picks up the pieces ansd tries the spectacular again, but his effort is also deflected away.
45' We'll play two minutes of added time at the end of this first half.
43' Guehi's diagonal ball for Gallagher rolls over the goal-line, but Targett is judged to have had the last touch on the way through and concedes a corner!
42' Edouard and Schar clash heads in mid-air, and Newcastle are the beneficiaries of a free-kick on halfway.
41' SAVED!!! Joelinton's lazy pass allows Edouard a shot on goal, but there's not enough power on his first-time shot to trouble Dubravka, who saves it with ease!
J. Ayew
M. Olise
40' Patrick Vieira makes a surprising first-half substitution, bringing off Olise for Jordan Ayew.
38' SAVED!!! Guimaraes brings down Krafth's throw, flicks the ball over Kouyate, and fires a low volley on goal, that Guaita gratefully saves!
37' Schar's long ball forward finds Almiron on the fly again, but his cross from the byline is straight into the arms of Guaita.
36' SAVED!!! A free-kick falls for Almiron to claim the second ball, and he smashes a half-volley into the arms of a diving Guaita! He's in some kind of mood at the moment!
34' The stadium's in raptures at the moment as Joelinton fouls Kouyate, and he seems to be feeding off the fiery atmosphere at the moment!
M. Almirón
Yellow Card
33' Almiron's celebration, taking off his shirt and diving into the Magpies' faithful, warrants a yellow card, but he will not care one bit!
Bruno Guimarães
32' The ball from Guimaraes was a difficult one for Almiron to control, let alone beat his man and score an absolute belter!
M. Almirón
32' GOOOAAAALLLL!!!! What a strike!!! Guimaraes releases Almiron down the right, who gets around Mitchell, enters the box, and curls a tight-angled shot into the top corner!!! What a breakaway goal, and what a way for Newcastle to go 1-0 up!!!
32' A small fracas breaks out following that foul, involving Zaha, Kouyate and Almiron, but the referee eventually calms the players down to resume proceedings.
30' Edouard lays a high ball off to Gallagher, who is shunted to the ground by Joelinton's shoulder. It's been feisty so far, but with very little quality in the final third to match the fast pace of the midfield battle.
29' Guimaraes releases Krafth down the right, and he crosses early for Wood, but it's plucked out of the sky by Guaita and Palace regain possession.
28' Joelinton and Saint-Maximin both hit the floor following two challenges in the same passage of play, but the two Newcastle players do eventually get back to their feet and play resumes.
26' Newcastle have won their last five home Premier League matches, last winning six in a row between January and April 2004 under Sir Bobby Robson. Before this run, the Magpies had won just four of their last 24 games at St James’ Park.
24' Olise looks to flick the ball past Targett and goes down under pressure from him, but the decision goes the way of Newcastle who win a throw-in.
23' Shelvey looks to put Almiron in behind with a chip over the top, but Guehi steps in to shepherd the ball behind for a Palace goal-kick.
22' Gallagher catches Guimaraes late, but Newcastle carry on playing and the referee gives them the advantage.
20' WIDE!!! What a miss!!! Targett's long ball puts Wood in the clear, and although he has all the time and space in the world, he side-foots his shot wide of the goal! The flag does eventually go up, but regardless, he should've found the target there!
19' Palace’s defeat at Leicester last time out was their first defeat in six Premier League games. They last lost consecutive league matches in December 2021.
17' Palace break at speed and Edouard capitalises on Krafth's slip to race away on goal. He hesitates shooting though, and is dispossessed by Schar. Mitchell crosses back into the area, but Edouard is a fraction behind it and misses the ball!
15' Targett crosses from the left and the ball's bouncing all over the Palace box. Almiron fires a shot towards goal, that smashes the outstretched arm of Kouyate! Newcastle's players and fans alike call for a penalty, but the referee isn't convinced!
14' Saint-Maximin stands over the ball on the right touchline and pulls off a little dance in an effort to beat Kouyate! It's funny that's for sure, but neither ball nor defender are moved so rather ineffective!
13' Schlupp looks to pick out Olise with a wide diagonal pass, but it instead lands in the arms of Magpies boss Eddie Howe after floating over the sideline!
12' Almiron wins the ball deep in his own half and Newcastle look to counter, but Saint-Maximin's wide ball to Targett rolls over the touchline for a throw.
10' SAVED!!! Joelinton wins the ball in midfield and sends Saint-Maximin thundering down the wing. He cuts across the box, beating challenge after challenge, but his final shot is weak in comparison and Guaita saves it with ease!
9' London clubs have lost just one of their last 12 Premier League visits to St James’ Park, with Newcastle beating only West Ham, in April 2021. The Magpies have conceded at least three goals in all four of their home games against London sides so far this term.
8' BLOCKED!!! Newcastle pass the ball around the Palace box, before an extremely well-weighted one from Joelinton beats Mitchell to put Almiron into shooting space. He waits to shoot on his left foot, and Guehi steps in to block it behind for a corner!
7' Crystal Palace won this exact fixture 2-1 last season – they’ve never won back-to-back away league games against Newcastle before.
5' Targett smashes the ball up the left-hand channel with Saint-Maximin steaming onto it, but it's a tad too long for him to reach and Guaita gathers it.
5' Clyne finds Gallagher and looks to reconnect with a continuing run, but Shelvey intercepts and the Palace right-back brings him down.
3' Newcastle have lost three of their last six league games against Crystal Palace, as many as they had in their previous 24 against the Eagles.
1' Saint-Maximin dribbles away from trouble but his awful cross-field pass to Schar is picked off by Zaha, but he can't find Edouard and Newcastle clear!
1' Gallagher kicks off for Palace, and we're underway at St. James' Park!
Out come the two teams, and we're nearly ready for kick-off here!
Having missed their FA Cup semi-final loss to his parent club Chelsea, Conor Gallagher is back in the Palace team, starting in attacking midfield alongside Michael Olise and behind Odsonne Edouard, with the two Frenchmen also earning recalls to the XI.
Newcastle’s XI is unchanged from their last-gasp victory over Leicester last time out, with brace-scoring Brazilian Bruno Guimaraes and his fellow countryman Joelinton playing either side of Jonjo Shelvey in midfield.
CRYSTAL PALACE SUBS: Jack Butland, Joel Ward, James Tomkins, Jordan Ayew, Eberechi Eze, Will Hughes, Jean-Philippe Mateta, James McArthur, Christian Benteke.
CRYSTAL PALACE (4-2-3-1): Vicente Guaita; Nathaniel Clyne, Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi, Tyrick Mitchell; Cheikhou Kouyate, Jeffrey Schlupp; Michael Olise, Conor Gallagher, Wilfried Zaha; Odsonne Edouard.
NEWCASTLE UNITED SUBS: Karl Darlow, Jamaal Lascelles, Matt Ritchie, Federico Fernandez, Javier Manquillo, Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock, Dwight Gayle, Sean Longstaff.
NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-3-3): Martin Dubravka; Emil Krafth, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, Matt Targett; Bruno Guimaraes, Jonjo Shelvey, Joelinton; Miguel Almiron, Chris Wood, Allan Saint-Maximin.
Patrick Vieira’s Palace are level with Newcastle – both on 37 points – however the Eagles’ superior goal difference sees them a position higher in 13th, and they could climb as high as ninth with a win at St. James’ Park.
The Magpies come into this one having been victorious in their last two matches, and Eddie Howe’s side are now all but safe from relegation trouble, being 12 points clear of the drop with just six games to play.
Hello, and welcome to live coverage of this Premier League fixture – it’s between Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.
