Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

Boos and whistles ring around the stadium as the referee brings an end to what has been a terrible evening for the home side. They went behind early on and never looked like recovering from such a poor start, as Roma were excellent from start to finish. They gave themselves a bit of hope when Pasalic headed in from close range, but their joy would be short lived as the Giallorossi tore them apart on two more occasions.
Suso gets himself into a good position just outside of the Roma penalty area and unleashes a low shot, but he's clearly dejected and sends a poor strike comfortably wide of the goal. That rather sums up Milan's night.
G. Gómez
J. Sosa
Milan have made a late alteration as they try to avoid falling even further behind, with Sosa making way for Gustavo Gomez.
D. De Rossi
Penalty Goal
GOAL! De Rossi steps up and fires a low strike towards the bottom right-hand corner of the net. Donnarumma gets down well and makes contact with the ball, but he can't keep it from resulting in yet another goal for Roma.
G. Paletta
Red Card
PENALTY! Salah sprints into the left-hand side of the Milan penalty area and beats Paletta before trying to shoot, but just as he's about to do so he's cynically dragged back by the centre-back, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot before showing the defender a straight red card.
Bruno Peres
E. Džeko
Now Dzeko seems to be carrying a slight injury as he slowly makes his way off the pitch to be replaced by Bruno Peres. With a big game against Juventus fast approaching, Luciano Spalletti will be hoping the knock isn't a serious one.
Deulofeu charges down the right flank as he leaves De Rossi for dead. He then cuts towards the box and fizzes a low pass across the face of goal, but it's sent too near to Szczesny and is easily dealt with by the Polish goalkeeper.
Huge chance for Salah to make it 4-1! The Egyptian, who has been excellent this evening, is presented with a great opportunity to score after Grenier can't control the ball, but he blasts his effort off a red and black shirt and out for a corner.
E. Džeko
It was Dzeko who set up El Shaarawy to break the hearts of his former team-mates. The Bosnian has received little service since the break but did well there to find the substitute in a good position.
S. El Shaarawy
GOAL! What a strike by El Shaarawy! The former Milan man is left in a pocket of space on the edge of the penalty area and quickly unleashes a beautiful curling strike that flies past the outstretched limbs of Donnarumma and into the top right-hand corner of the net. It's advantage Roma once again!
L. Ocampos
Yellow Card
Space opens up for Salah as he tries to skip down the right flank, but Ocampos brings him crashing to the ground with a poor sliding challenge that earns him a booking.
M. Pašalić
GOAL! Milan have pulled one back! Ocampos steps up and curls a great corner over to the far post and into the path of Pasalic, who is left all alone in front of goal and easily manages to beat Szczesny with a diving header. Game on!
L. Ocampos
Assist Lucas Ariel Ocampos
Paredes gives the ball away in the middle of the pitch and allows Milan to counter quickly, but Deulofeu can't take advantage of the Argentine's error as his low cross is easily thumped away by Fazio.
Excellent defending by Zapata! Salah breaks towards the Milan penalty area and puts Zapata under plenty of pressure as he tries to go one-on-one with Donnarumma, but the Colombian does really well to out-muscle the attacking midfielder before clearing the danger.
C. Grenier
R. Nainggolan
Nainggolan really looks to be struggling as he limps off the pitch to be replaced by Clement Grenier. If the injury is a bad one, that'll be a huge blow for Roma.
Excellent interception by Manolas! Deulofeu darts into the right-hand side of the Roma box before fizzing a dangerous pass across the face of goal. It looks set to reach Lapadula, but Manolas is there to make sure it doesn't.
L. Ocampos
L. Vangioni
Milan have made an attacking alteration, with Vangioni making way for Lucas Ocampos.
Rocket of a shot from Bertolacci! A pocket of space opens up for the midfielder 25 yards away from the Roma goal and he shoots quickly, but his strike swerves away from the far post after flying past Szczesny.
Big chance for Dzeko! Nainggolan knocks a beautiful through-ball past Paletta and into the path of Dzeko on the edge of the Milan penalty area. The Bosnian takes a quick touch and then shoots, but his low strike isn't hit well enough and trickles just wide of the far post.
Roma patiently hold on to possession deep inside the Milan half of the pitch before Emerson is able to get away a shot from the edge of the penalty area. It's well hit by the Brazilian but Donnarumma gets down low to stop it resulting in a third goal for the Giallorossi.
K. Manolas
Yellow Card
Manolas has also been booked for his part in the fracas.
A. Bertolacci
Yellow Card
It's all kicking off! A long pass is knocked into the left-hand side of the Roma penalty area and towards Bertolacci, who is beaten to the ball by Manolas. The Milan man reacts angrily and lashes out at the Greek defender, resulting in plenty of pushing and shoving breaking out before the referee shows the midfielder a yellow card.
El Shaarawy is immediately clattered into by a hefty sliding challenge from De Sciglio as soon as play gets underway once again. He hasn't received a particularly warm welcome from his former team-mates!
S. El Shaarawy
D. Perotti
Perotti gingerly makes his way off the pitch to be replaced by Stephan El Shaarawy, who receives a polite round of applause from the home fans as he comes on.
G. Lapadula
Yellow Card
A chipped cross loops into the Roma penalty area and almost finds Lapadula in front of goal, but the striker is beaten to the ball by Emerson and then fouls the Brazilian with a flailing arm, resulting in him becoming the latest player to be booked.
Perotti charges down the left wing and does well to get the better of Mattia De Sciglio before firing a low cross towards the near post, but it's easily collected by Donnarumma. The Argentine looks to be struggling with an injury picked up at the end of the first half, and he may have to make way.
Mario Pasalic catches Paredes and this time it's Roma who are presented with a free-kick out wide. They decide to take it short and work the ball towards the halfway line, where Lapadula puts Fazio under good pressure and almost wins possession back from the centre-back.
Vangioni is clattered into from behind by Paredes and wins his side a free-kick in a promising position over on the left wing. They're unable to make it count though, as good defending from Roma keeps Milan at bay once again.
A curling corner is whipped in by Suso and picks out Lapadula in a promising position inside the Roma penalty area, but he sends his bullet header over the top of the crossbar before being penalised for pushing in the build-up.
Vangioni gets himself into a good position deep down the left flank before curling a looping cross over to the far post, but Juan Jesus is there to win the ball under pressure and heads it away to the right wing.
L. Vangioni
Yellow Card
Salah breaks through the middle of the pitch and causes problems for Milan on the break once again, but Vangioni clumsily drags him back and earns himself a yellow card.
Milan quickly push forward from the restart and win themselves a corner over on the left wing. Sosa steps up and curls a cross towards the near post, but it's slightly underhit and easily cleared by Roma.
A. Bertolacci
M. Fernández
Milan have made one substitution during the half-time break as they try to find a way back into the game, with Andrea Bertolacci replacing Matias Fernandez, who was unable to make much of an impact.
We're underway once again!
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
So far, so good for Roma, who have dominated the game thus far and deservedly head into the half-time break with a two-goal lead. They've continuously caused problems for Milan on the break, with the home side really struggling to deal with Salah and Perotti down the wings. At the other end of the pitch, their defence has remained firm, but they've had very little to deal with due to the Rossoneri's struggles in and around the penalty area.
Emerson darts into the right-hand side of the Milan penalty area and heads towards the byline before fizzing a pass across the face of goal. The ball is brilliantly it and should find a team-mate in front of goal, but there's no one there to meet it and Milan just about survive once again.
The fourth official has indicated that there will be just one minute of added time.
Another curling corner from Paredes momentarily causes problems for Milan as it swing towards the head of Dzeko, but Donnarumma does well to rush out and deal with the danger with a strong punch.
The Milan supporters are starting to become slightly restless as Roma push forward once again. This time it's Nainggolan who shoots from just outside of the box, but his curling strike is slightly overhit and Donnarumma can watch it sail over the top of the crossbar.
Big chance for Perotti! The Argentine darts into the left-hand side of the Milan penalty area and latches on to a clever pass forward from Nainggolan, but his strike at the near post is well smothered by Donnarumma.
Roma almost make it 3-0! Once again, the visitors hit Milan on an excellent counter. Salah sprints down the right flank before cutting inside and teeing up Nainggolan. The Belgian's low shot is tipped on to the post by Donnarumma and back to Salah, who then fires his close-range follow-up over the top of the crossbar.
Deulofeu spends slightly too long in possession over on the left wing, allowing Roma to win the ball and counter quickly. Perotti charges down the left flank and then picks out Salah with a great cross-field pass, but the Egyptian's shot from the edge of the penalty area fails to hit the target and sails safely wide.
Milan have another opportunity to fire a cross into the penalty area after winning themselves a corner, but this time Deulofeu's ball is poorly hit and fails to pick out a team-mate in front of goal.
Another Roma corner is fired in by Paredes, but this time it's dealt with at the near post. Nainggolan's follow-up strike is blocked and the ball rolls over to Perotti, who darts into the box and then fires a thumping shot into the side-netting.
Almost a free header for Cristian Zapata! Deulofeu wins Milan a corner over on the left flank and then curls a great cross over to the far post, where Zapata is waiting. The defender rises high and tries to reach the ball, but it fizzes just an inch or so over his head.
Milan quickly push forward from the restart as they desperately try to find a way back into the game, but they can't find a way through the sea of white shirts camped in front of them and Deulofeu eventually loses out to Manolas.
L. Paredes
Paredes' swinging cross into the penalty area was beautifully hit and picked out Dzeko perfectly, but Milan really should have done better to deal with the big Bosnian in the air.
E. Džeko
GOAL! It's Dzeko again! After a few minutes on the back foot, Roma push forward and win themselves a corner over on the left wing. Leandro Paredes steps up and curls a brilliant cross into the box, where Dzeko rises high and beats Donnarumma with a bullet header from close range.
Almost a chance for Lapadula! A bouncing cross flies into the heart of the Roma penalty area and finds Lapadula in a promising position in front of goal, but he's unable to spin round Federico Fazio before the referee awards the visitors a free-kick for a handball committed by the striker.
Thumping strike by Sosa! The Argentine gets himself into a pocket of space 30 yards out and quickly unleashes a rocket of a shot, but Wojciech Szczesny pulls off a great diving save to deny the midfielder an equaliser.
Great chance for Dzeko to make it 2-0! A chipped pass forward from De Rossi can only find Leonel Vangioni, but the full-back nods the ball straight down to Dzeko. The Bosnian quickly shoots from the penalty spot, and his effort flies just over the top of the crossbar after beating Donnarumma.
It just isn't quite working for Milan at the moment. They're struggling to do much with the ball when they find themselves deep inside the Roma half of the pitch, and they're being torn apart by the visitors on the break.
Perotti twists and turns over on the left flank as he tries to find a way into the Milan penalty area. He's unable to do so but can poke the ball back to Radja Nainggolan, who then fires a speculative effort high over the top of the crossbar.
Diego Perotti hits the post! Roma are all over Milan at the moment as they continue pushing forward. This time it's Perotti who gets himself into a good position before shooting, but his curling, 20-yard effort smashes off the woodwork.
Emerson is left in plenty of space over on the right wing and is able to charge forward under very little pressure. He then cuts towards the penalty area and shoots, but Donnarumma does well to save the effort in the middle of the goal.
Gabriel Paletta goes crashing to the ground as the corner is whipped into the penalty area, resulting in a few half-hearted penalty appeals from the Milan players and fans. The referee isn't at all interested, however, and waves play on.
Deulofeu goes close! A poor pass from Daniele De Rossi can only find Deulofeu, who then sprints forward. The Spaniard flies towards the edge of the box before unleashing a curling strike, but it deflects just inches wide of the near post and out for a corner.
Sosa is caught in possession in the middle of the pitch, allowing Roma to counter quickly. They do so down the left wing before a looping cross is fired into the box and over to Salah, who takes a quick touch before firing a fierce volley several yards over the top of the crossbar.
Deulofeu steps up and curls a cross towards the near post, but it fails to pick out a team-mate in front of goal and is easily dealt with by Roma, who then try to counter-attack through Salah in the middle of the pitch.
Milan attempt to push forward once again and do well to win themselves a free-kick. It initially fails to find a red and black shirt in front of goal before falling to Jose Sosa just outside of the penalty area, and the midfielder unleashes a 25-yard shot that deflects out a for corner.
Mohamed Salah
That was lovely play by Salah to set up Dzeko. The Egyptian has looked lively with the ball at his feet, but the Milan defence stepped off far too much and didn't put enough pressure on the attacking midfielder.
E. Džeko
GOAL! Roma have taken an early lead! Mohamed Salah and Edin Dzeko play a lovely one-two between themselves on the edge of the Milan box as they burst forward, and the Bosnian then curls a beautiful strike past the outstretched limbs of Gianluigi Donnarumma and into the top right-hand corner of the net.
Both sides have been enjoying decent possession so far, but Roma already look impressive on the front foot. They've pushed Milan on to the back foot and are showing good speed down the flanks.
Plenty of hefty challenges have already left several players lying in pain on the floor. This time it's Gianluca Lapadula who catches Kostas Manolas as the two battle in the air for the ball, and the Greek defender lands heavily as he crashes to the ground. He should be able to continue though.
After an even start to the game from both sides, Suso is dragged to the ground by Juan Jesus and wins Milan a free-kick. It's fired over to the left wing, where Gerard Deulofeu plays a quick one-two with Suso, but the latter's pass into the box is slightly overhit and rolls out for a goal-kick.
We're off!
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Meanwhile, Roma boss Luciano Spalletti has also made three alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with Antonio Rudiger, Kevin Strootman and Stephan El Shaarawy making way for Juan Jesus, Leandro Paredes and Diego Perotti.

There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
Recent meetings between these two sides have been tight and nervy affairs, with Roma tending to get the better of their opponents since establishing themselves as a top three side in recent years. December’s meeting at the Stadio Olimpico ended in a 1-0 win thanks to a second-half Radja Nainggolan goal, meaning that Milan have only managed to win once in their last nine games against the Giallorossi.
Five victories in their last seven Serie A outings should be cause for celebration for Roma, but Sunday’s derby defeat against Lazio means that all is not well in the Italian capital. The loss against their bitter rivals was a huge setback in their bid to finish in second place for a third time in four seasons, and they desperately need to win this evening if they’re to keep the pressure firmly on Napoli, who are unbeaten in nine games thanks to yesterday’s victory at home to Cagliari.
After enjoying a good run of six wins from nine games, it’s been a tough few weeks for a tiring Milan side. They scraped a last-minute draw in the Derby della Madonnina before losing to Empoli and being held to a stalemate away to Crotone, all but ending their chances of catching Atalanta. Thankfully for them, Inter have been in equally poor form recently, but, with time fast running out, they can’t afford another poor performance today.
With a fascinating season quickly coming to an end, both Milan and Roma are desperately battling with very specific opponents. For the Rossoneri, it’s their fierce rivals Inter, who, due to their shock defeat away to Genoa earlier today, sit three points behind. The Giallorossi, meanwhile, are locked in a fierce fight with Napoli, from whom they can snatch second place if they’re victorious here this evening.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Serie A game between AC Milan and Roma at San Siro.
