Commentary

Pioli's first game in charge ends in the most dramatic of circumstances as Perisic strikes with one of the last kicks of the game to rescue a deserved point. It was a derby full of drama and quality goals. Both clubs will feel satisfied with this result. That's all the time we've got, thanks for tuning in!
I. Perišić
Yellow Card
Internazionale
Perisic gets booked for yanking off his shirt in celebration.
G. Kondogbia
Assist
Internazionale
His corner did the damage.
I. Perišić
Goal
Internazionale
INCREDIBLE! PERISIC HAS TIED IT UP! From the corner, Murillo's ball finds Perisic inside the mixer, and he guides a header home! He's been knocking on the door all game and has finally broke through!
EXCELLENT DEFENDING! The Milan right-back Abate has had a poor game, but he reacted superbly to head the ball away from Perisic, after D'Ambrosio's cross was put into the perfect area! Handanovic comes forward for the corner...
Inter continue to dominate the ball, but Milan are generally repelling their threat. There's some nervousness in the stands, with both sets of supporters looking at the clock for very different reasons!
M. Pašalić
G. Bonaventura
Milan
Pasalic gets a late cameo for Bonaventura.
It's all Inter at the moment as we head towards the final moments of the game. The Nerazzurri have recovered eight points from losing situations this season - more than any other Serie A side.
Locatelli makes a vital play inside the area to intercept the ball, but he concedes possession right back to the opposition with a poor pass. Luckily, for his sake, Inter fail to punish him.
Perisic drives down the left flank again and manages to get space for a powerful low cross. Icardi tries to arrive onto it at the near post but he just fails to make contact, which would have left Donnarumma in all sorts of trouble!
Just over 10 minutes left in this one now. Inter would have thought that Candreva's goal was just reward for their pressure throughout, and that it would be the springboard to a win. Hasn't worked out like that.
G. Lapadula
M. Niang
Milan
Another change as Niang is taken off for Lapadula.
S. Jovetić
Yellow Card
Internazionale
That was needless from Jovetic. Bonaventura chased the ball down the left and the substitute should have had the legs to get there ahead of him. He sticks an arm out and the Milan midfielder did make the most of it, but it was still a foul, and he also gets booked.
Donnarumma nearly spills it! Perisic takes a shot on the turn from the top of the box that's heading wide, but the keeper tries to get a hand to it anyway. It runs away from him, but he recovers to smother it before Candreva!
S. Jovetić
M. Brozović
Internazionale
Substitution Marcelo Brozović Stevan Jovetić
Inter have been controlling possession for the last few minutes, but Milan are keeping more players in defensive positions and preventing them from finding the type of space that they were in the first half.
M. Fernández
C. Bacca
Milan
No goals now in six games from Bacca as Fernandez replaces him.
BIG MISS! That's the type of chance that Icardi normally feasts on. He ghosts down the outside of Gomez, the flag stays down, but he digs his instep into the turf, leading to a timid finish that is gathered by the keeper.
Chance for Milan on the counter-attack as the ball is played up to Niang and Bacca, but the former takes the ball too far away from the centre, which kills the momentum of the attack.
Good turn from Joao Mario to beat his initial man but he can't get past the second. Moments later, Perisic latches onto a clipped pass with a terrific volley, but it flies inches wide of the far post!
Y. Nagatomo
C. Ansaldi
Internazionale
Nagatomo has been introduced for Ansaldi.
The game has been broken up by a few tetchy fouls in midfield, and there's a brief flare-up between Niang and Mario that the referee has to sort out quickly. Less than half-hour to go now.
This time, Miranda gets the better of Suso out on the right-hand side. A third goal for Milan and you feel that the result will be wrapped up. Inter have shot themselves in the foot, despite the quality of both of Suso's goals.
You can't write this stuff. Suso claimed pre-match that he would walk home if he scored twice in the derby. Not sure how far he lives from San Siro so it may have been a tongue in cheek promise. But given what he's done so far, he deserves a private jet to his rooftop!
C. Bacca
Assist
Milan
Bacca did well to look up and spot the run of the wide man infield.
Suso
Goal
Milan
SUSO SENSATIONAL! MILAN BACK IN FRONT! The Spaniard is picked out by Bacca, and deftly shimmies past Miranda before keeping his composure and rolling it into the back of the net!
Oh My Word. One of the worst shots you're likely to see all season. Paletta took aim from around 40 yards on the half volley, but it was so bad that the ball spun out for a throw-in, and almost at a position behind where it was initially struck. Stick to your day job.
I. Perišić
Assist
Internazionale
Perisic played the pass to Candreva after a throw-in.
A. Candreva
Goal
Internazionale
INTER TIE IT UP! An outstanding and deserved goal from Candreva, who cracked it into the top corner from long range! He's been threatening to do that all game, and Milan pay the price.
BONAVENTURA GOES CLOSE! From a corner, the midfielder does well to keep a hold of the ball but Donnarumma does enough to put him off the shot and the ball loops off the mark!
C. Ansaldi
Yellow Card
Internazionale
Booking here for Ansaldi after he was late challenging Kucka.
Energetic start to the second half from both sides. It's been a great game to witness, with both sides trading positive spells - although the majority of those have fallen the way of Inter.
We're off again.
And that will do it for now. Inter dominated most of the first half but find themselves behind to a well-taken goal from Suso minutes before the break. It's been an enthralling derby, and something tells me that the scoring is not done. We'll be back soon.
That goal came well against the run of play, and Ansandi has to take some blame for that. He was caught ball watching when he should have been Suso watching. By the time he realised his mistake, the Milan man had already lined up his shot.
Suso
Goal
Milan
TREMENDOUS GOAL! Bonaventura is the man spearhaeading the Milan charge forward again, and with little pressure on him, he pings it into the path of Suso, who finishes superbly from just inside the area!
G. Bonaventura
Assist
Milan
He's been probably Milan's best player so far.
INTO THE ARMS OF HANDANOVIC! A sweeping Milan counter sees Brozovic breezed past in midfield as Bonaventura sprays the ball to Bacca, who is forced to cut inside and fire a shot that is right at the keeper!
STINGER! De Sciglio has the ball around 35 yards from goal and decides to try his luck, stinging the palms of Handanovic who has had so little to do all game. He keeps hold of that one.
THAT WAS CLOSE! Candreva pops up on the inside-right for the second time in this game to let fly with a long-range effort. It's dragged well wide, but almost ends up being a perfect low cross for Icardi, who can't make proper contact. He may have been offside at any rate.
J. Murillo
G. Medel
Internazionale
Medel has been struggling in more ways than one throughout this game. The Chilean appears to have pulled up with a dead leg and will be replaced by Jeison Murillo.
Locatelli leads Milan on the counter-attack and gets the ball to Bonaventura. Bacca had strayed offside so he had no other passing option, meaning that he tried to make it happen himself, but failed.
M. De Sciglio
Yellow Card
Milan
De Sciglio has had a torrid start to the game, failing to keep tabs on Candreva and D'Ambrosio down the flank. He fouls the latter, and is finally booked by the referee.
Brozovic has space in midfield and plays the ball into the path of Candreva. The winger lashes it on goal from an angle but can't find the target. Good play from Locatelli to put him off the shot.
Some nerves being shown by Donnarumma here in the first half as he now has mishit multiple clearances. The corners are piling up for Inter, and you get the sense that it's only a matter of time.
IT'S GETTING CLOSER! Perisic has the speed to make it to the byline on the right-hand side, but his cross is blocked out for a corner. From that, Kondogbia gets the flick on at the near post, but it flashes wide!
WHOOSH! There was the chance of the game for Inter, and it falls to Perisic again. D'Ambrosio does superbly to drive down the right and loft a tremendous cross that the ex-Dortmund man dives onto, but he puts it wide.
J. Kucka
Yellow Card
Milan
Second booking of the game as Joao Mario is tugged back blatantly by Kucka, and the referee reaches into his pocket to fish out another yellow card. Probably not the last one we've seen.
The free-kick is disappointing, not troubling the defence.
G. Kondogbia
Yellow Card
Internazionale
As soon as I say it, Kondogbia clumsily fouls Suso near the edge of the area. The referee already made a note of an earlier challenge from the midfielder, and booked him for repeat offending.
Gomez takes a chunk out of D'Ambosio with a meaty challenge, but the referee doesn't see anything wrong with it. There's not been too many rough tackles yet, even though the energy levels have been high.
PERISIC SHOULD DO BETTER! Candreva gets an inch of space ahead of De Sciglio and drills in a cross that Icardi cleverly touches behind him. Perisic has space at the back post to shoot but only aims it down the throat of Donnarumma.
Interesting stat for Icardi. He's scored against every Serie A team, except tonight's opponents. That's the type of omen that usually ends up being fulfilled. He's been moving well tonight.
Despite those two bursts for Milan, Inter have been the better side in the opening exchanges. There's been some good defending down the wing from the Rossoneri though that has prevented some crosses from coming in.
Inter look shaky down their right flank as Niang again gets isolated on Medel and beats the Chilean. He tries to square it into the area for Bacca, but the defence manages to deal with it.
PENALTY? Niang is put on his way down the left side after a nifty throughball from Bonaventura. He tries to beat Medel for raw pace to the byline and both players to tumbling. The referee only awards a goal-kick.
Player down already, and it's Perisic who is in need of a moment as he takes an awkward landing following an aerial challenge with Kucka. No malice in that one, and he seems fine to continue.
Here we go!
Marcelo Brozovic scored twice for Croatia over the international break, and his good fortune continues with a starting berth ahead of Ever Banega and Felipe Melo. Gary Medel returns from suspension and immediately teams up with Miranda at the back.
Alessio Romagnoli failed a late fitness test and misses out on this match, meaning that Gustavo Gomez partners Gabriel Paletta in defence. Carlos Bacca leads the line, playing in front of Manuel Locatelli, who plays in his first derby.
Inter subs: Melo, Jovetic, Biabiany, Ranocchia, Banega, Santon, Martins, Murillo, Gnoukouri, Carrizo, Nagatomo, Gabriel.
Inter (4-3-3): Handanovic; D'Ambrosio, Miranda, Medel, Ansaldi; Brozovic, Mario, Kondogbia; Candreva, Icardi, Perisic.
Milan subs: Gabriel, Ely, Luiz Adriano, Lapadula, Honda, Fernandez, Poli, Zapata, Sosa, Antonelli, Plizzari, Pasalic.
Milan (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Abate, Paletta, Gomez, De Sciglio; Kucka, Locatelli, Bonaventura; Suso, Bacca, Niang.
Stefano Pioli is thrown right into the fire in his first game as Inter boss. He replaced Frank de Boer, who was dismissed with the club in the bottom half of the table. They're already 16 points off the pace. The title challenge is already over and even European football next season is going to take some doing.
A win here will see Milan rise to second place, although that still leaves them five points behind Juventus at the Serie A summit. The Rossoneri have picked up a win against the Bianconeri and Lazio in what has been a positive campaign so far.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Derby della Madonnina, where Milan take on Inter at San Siro. The Rossoneri have found some stability this season it seems - which can't be said about the Nerazzurri, who have been at war with themselves.
