That's all for today from Shanghai Stadium. Thanks for joining us - goodbye!
Both teams now conclude their ICC action in China with fixtures against Manchester City.
For Dortmund, there were plenty of positives. Four goals, two of them sublime from Ousmane Dembele and Gonzalo Castro, and impressive late debuts for Emre Mor and Marc Bartra.
Manchester United lose for the first time under Jose Mourinho, and they were deserved losers against a strong Borussia Dortmund side. The Premier League outfit can at least reflect on a first goal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
FULL-TIME: Manchester United 1-4 Borussia Dortmund
United look desperate for the game to end, doing their best to keep the ball and so keep the scoreline down. Bailly continues to charge around.
It could have been worse for Mourinho's men! Mor, again, joyfully skips past challenges, but his square pass is not converted. United break with Rashford, but his own run is eventually halted.
United have been outclassed here in Shanghai. The game is petering out now, and it looks likely to end 4-1 to Dortmund.

Goal
Borussia Dortmund
GOAL! If Castro's first was fortunate, his second was anything but! Taking his time as he ran from left to right, he pops a shot into the far top corner from 25 yards. Romero has no chance, and Dortmund restore their three-goal advantage.
And Bailly, just cautioned, is fortunate that this is a friendly tournament. He flies in on Mor's delightful, dinking run, conceding a free-kick on the edge of the area. No second booking. Castro curls the set-piece over.
Oh dear, United. Januzaj does well on the left, laying back for one of Herrera and Pereira to shoot. Only they both leave it for the other, and Dortmund escape.
E. Bailly
Yellow Card
Manchester United
After Shaw commits a foul, Bailly is booked for booting the ball away in frustration.
CLOSE! Dortmund have not given up on adding to their tally, and, after a ricochet in the United defence, Pulisic rams a shot inches past the far post.
We are back under way with a Dortmund throw-in on the left.
And another water break! Three minutes for the two teams to regroup.
Januzaj, of course, like the man he replaced, is a former Dortmund player. He was sent back from a loan spell last season, so will hope to impress today. His first run ends in Pereira's strike being blocked, though.
Andreas Pereira
A. Valencia
Manchester United
Just the one change this time: Andreas Pereira for Valencia.
From the subsequent corner, Sahin gets in front of team mate Barta to nod towards goal, but misses the target.
CHANCE! Barta with a lovely flick from the front post to the back, and Mata somehow gets there to make a last-ditch interception ahead of the waiting Merino.
Now, after that glut of substitutions, the teams are taking a few moments to adjust to their new line-ups.

Manchester United
GOAL! Another new boy nets, but this time it's Mkhitaryan against his former club. Rashford cleverly dummies an incisive pass to let Mata in, where he squares for the Armenian to convert.
O. Dembélé
Goal
Borussia Dortmund
GOAL! What a goal! Dembele leaves both Shaw and Rojo on the ground with a couple of smart twists and turns, then shows the ruthlessness United have been lacking with a crashing finish. Romero is motionless.
S. Rode
Assist
Borussia Dortmund
Assist Sebastian Rode
CHANCE! Another error at the back from Dortmund, and, this time, it's their former team mate Mkhitaryan who bears down on goal. However, faced with Weidenfeller, he shoots straight into the goalkeeper's arms.
Bailly has looked uncertain on the ball at times, but his physical attributes are not in doubt. He is matching Aubameyang at the start of this second half, making a couple of strong challenges, the latest at the end of a sprint to the by-line.
And, of course, that means Dortmund are still getting on the ball. Dembele is on the right now, playing in front of left winger Larsen.
However, despite the changes, United's tactics have not altered a great deal. Rashford is now the man running in behind, though his timing is a little out at the moment.
Shaw has immediately been more involved in the second half than in the first. A nice flick by Mkhitaryan looked to have played him in, but the left back over ran the ball.
So, after a number of changes, we are back under way.
J. Bruun Larsen
F. Passlack
Borussia Dortmund
Felix Passlack is replaced by 17-year-old Jacob Bruun Larsen for Dortmund.

A. Young
J. Lingard
Manchester United

S. Romero
S. Johnstone
Manchester United
Johnstone's shaky performance is ended, as he makes way for Sergio Romero.
And here come the players...
Plenty of Dortmund players out training on the pitch at half-time. A number of changes would surprise no-one in a fixture such as this one.
Dortmund took the lead when Johnstone's error allowed Castro to poke into the roof of the net after a free-kick, and Aubameyang then punished a Valencia handball with a clinical penalty.
It may be just United's second friendly, against a very good Dortmund side, but they have been out-passed, out-worked and generally out-played in Shanghai.
HALF-TIME: Manchester United 0-2 Borussia Dortmund
Another botched ball in behind, as Memphis again fails to get through, and that just about sums up United's half. It's been all Dortmund, and Mourinho's men have lacked a cutting edge on the counter.
It will be interesting to see how Mourinho reacts at half-time. He had earlier referenced Dortmund's extra game practice, but there is no doubting United have looked more than leggy against the impressive German outfit.
United's link-up play is not a patch on Dortmund's, and the ball is just coming straight back. In contrast to Rode's scheming deep passes, Ander Herrera hacks high into the air.
SAVE! It has been a tough half for Johnstone, but he saves Jones's blushes here! Aubameyang finds space in the area, and the England defender desperately intercepts, scooping the ball towards his own goal. Fortunately for him, his goalkeeper races back to drag clear.
Dortmund are enjoying themselves now! Schmelzer knocks a long ball down for Aubameyang to volley, but he thumps a sliced strike wide of the near post.
As after the first goal, there has been a little flurry of action. Loose touches and wrong decisions in attacking areas quickly nullify both attacks, though.
S. Papastathopoulos
Yellow Card
Borussia Dortmund
Sokratis is booked, as he fells Memphis.
P. Aubameyang
Penalty Goal
Borussia Dortmund
GOAL! A lovely passing move from Dortmund ends with Aubameyang stretching onto a cross with an acrobatic volley, which bounces up and strikes the unsuspecting Valencia on the arm. The referee points to the spot, and Aubameyang calmly tucks away the penalty. The Bundesliga outfit are in the clear in Shanghai.
PENALTY TO DORTMUND!
The players are back on the pitch, and we'll resume the first half with a Dortmund free-kick on the edge of their own area.
As Lingard tries to wrestle through the Dortmund defence, the referee calls for the regulatory three-minute break.
Juan Mata has, for the first time, attempted a run from deep, now. With Dortmund still confident in their own ability, there is room for United to stretch them.
Dortmund, on the other hand, now look content to pass the ball around in the same spaces they had previously ignored. This game probably needed that goal.
While not a competitive game, United are coming out now, not wanting to lose the match. Straight away, Aubameyang is on the hunt for space in behind. It will be interesting to see how Mourinho plays this.
Moments previously, the supporters at the stadium had broken into an Icelandic clap, but they now have a really good, end-to-end game to watch. Mkhitaryan had earlier burst through, running out of space at the by-line.
CHANCE! And what a chance! Lingard runs clear, but, with so much time, shoots early and weakly. It's straight at Roman Weidenfeller, and United miss the opportunity to immediately draw level.
United are allowing Dortmund to have all the ball, leaving Memphis up front to entertain Sokratis. With such a crowded final third, Gonzalo Castro can only charge into United's blue shirts, tripping into a free-kick...
G. Castro
Goal
Borussia Dortmund
GOAL! A really scrappy opening goal to the ICC. Aubameyang takes the free-kick won by Castro, shooting low, rather tamely, towards the corner. Johnstone saves, but poorly parries, and, after Dembele and Kagawa both have a stab at the loose ball, Castro is on hand to hook into the net.
While Dortmund are allegedly lining up with four at the back, Sven Bender, one of the central defenders, is so advanced that Sokratis is being left on his own, time and time again. United will surely exploit that, sooner, rather than later.
United break, in huge numbers! Memphis is the man played in on the right, but, as he looks to nudge the ball back inside to a team mate, Sokratis recovers to mop up. Another close call.
Bizarrely, another throw-in conceded by Dembele in the same position was taken long down the line. The linesman flagged for offside, presumably forgetting a player cannot be offside from a throw...
A loose touch from Dembele on the left halts a Dortmund attack. He will feel he needs to impress today, with new competitors in Gotze and Schurrle now in the squad.
Through Aubameyang and Dembele at one end, and Memphis and Jesse Lingard at the other, it certainly seems as though the two sides will look to run in behind today. That might explain the nervousness of both defences in possession.
At the other end, Aubameyang is flagged offside, and then presses Sam Johnstone. The United keeper just about edges the ball clear, but that was a close call.
United's attack looks very dynamic without a natural centre forward, and it will be interesting to see how they trouble a makeshift Dortmund defence.
A few groans from the crowd, now, as Bailly goes down very easily under Kagawa's challenge. The new man wins the free-kick, but he has endured a somewhat shaky start, under constant pressure from Dortmund's speedy front line.
Sokratis again has to prevent Memphis from running clear! Bailly's clearance was flicked on by a Dortmund head, almost letting the United forward in.
And already a couple of hairy moments for the two defences. First, Phil Jones is almost caught by Aubameyang, and then Memphis Depay is - just about - halted by Sokratis Papastathopoulos. Frantic start, here.
Straight away there's a big cheer from the crowd as Mkhitaryan throws in a few fancy tricks to squeeze out of a tight corner. Dortmund will have to keep an eye on their former player today...
Away we go!  Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kagawa kick off for Dortmund.
Here they come! United led by Antonio Valencia, Dortmund by Marcel Schmelzer. We will be under way in a just a few minutes.
Both teams are, unsurprisingly, well supported at Shanghai Stadium. The players will shortly be on the pitch as we near kick-off...
Of course, Mkhitaryan will be in the spotlight today, having moved between the two clubs only this month. However, Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel insisted yesterday that the transfer should not be taken personally, adding: "I don't have any regrets, even if I would have loved to have seen him pull on a yellow kit tomorrow."
Meanwhile, this is Dortmund's fifth friendly, having beaten Erkenschwick, Wuppertaler and St Pauli, before losing to 1860 Munich. Dembele is already off the mark with his new club, netting on his debut.
Bailly and Mkhitaryan both made their United debuts in a 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic on Saturday, where Will Keane and Andreas Pereira were the scorers in Jose Mourinho's only game since taking charge at Old Trafford.
For Dortmund, recent signings Sebastian Rode and Ousmane Dembele both start, while Shinji Kagawa faces his former side. This game comes too soon, though, for Mario Gotze, who returned to the club earlier this week, and Andre Schurrle, who was signed today.
New men Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan keep their places for United today, with the latter facing his old club. At left back, Luke Shaw continues his rehabilitation after a lengthy spell out through injury.
Borussia Dortmund: Weidenfeller, Passlack, Sokratis, Bender, Schmelzer, Castro, Rode, Ramos, Kagawa, Dembele, Aubameyang.
Manchester United: Johnstone, Valencia, Bailly, Jones, Shaw, Blind, Herrera, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Lingard, Memphis.
This fixture, between two of Europe's biggest clubs, is the first of a number of International Champions Cup matches being played worldwide this pre-season.
