Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Leicester will feel hard done by at the full-time whistle as they did enough to force a point. David Silva's strike should have been disallowed for offside against Raheem Sterling, while Riyad Mahrez's managed to scuff his penalty off two feet to see that effort chalked off. A frustrating afternoon for Craig Shakespeare.
Manchester City secure a huge win in their bid to finish in the top four as goals from David Silva and Gabriel Jesus edge them past Leicester. Pep Guardiola's men were far from their best this afternoon, but did enough to claim the three points, while also capitalising on a great deal of fortune.
FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 2-1 LEICESTER
90' + 10' THAT'S IT! City hold out for the win.
David Silva
Yellow Card
90' + 9' Silva goes into the book for a foul on Mahrez.
90' + 9' Sane passes on the chance to play in Aguero and sees his shot blocked. There's still seconds left for Leicester to punish him.
90' + 9' Caballero punches the ball clear once again and with Schmeichel out of his net, the home side can break away.
90' + 8' Caballero boots the ball straight into touch and Leicester will have at least one more opportunity as Mahrez wins a free-kick on the right flank.
90' + 7' Cabellero comes off his line to punch Gray's cross away from Ndidi and takes a whack in the process. However, that could be it for the action this afternoon.
90' + 7' City are just doing enough to keep the ball away from the visitors, with time slowly ticking away. There's one minute left for the Foxes.
90' + 5' Gray and Zabaleta battle down the left flank and the Leicester man appears to hit the ball off the Argentine for a corner, but the officials deem it was a goal-kick.
Navas
Gabriel Jesus
90' + 4' Navas replaces Jesus for the home side.
90' + 3' More important defending for City in their own box as Kompany heads Fuchs' long throw away from danger before Otamendi makes an intervention at the near post to stop Simpson's cross.
90' + 1' Otamendi makes a crucial block for the home side as he denies Ndidi, who then collapses on top of the defender. He requires treatment before we can continue.
90' There will be seven minutes of added time.
89' Leicester pile the pressure on at the back with a couple of crosses into the box, but the City backline holds firm for now. It's all hands on deck for Guardiola's men.
87' City are attempting to take the pace out of the game, but are struggling to retain possession. They've been poor for much of the second period.
85' CHANCE! Simpson raids past Clichy on the flank and sends a low ball to the near post for Vardy to attack. The striker flicks the cross towards the net, only to send his effort narrowly wide of the post. City need to tighten up at the back.
S. Agüero
Yellow Card
84' Aguero goes into the book for stopping a quickly-taken Leicester free-kick.
83' From the resulting City corner, Silva's first cross is cleared, but the Spaniard gets the opportunity for a second ball in. This time he does find a team-mate, only for Kompany to direct his header over the bar.
P. Zabaleta
K. De Bruyne
82' Defensive sub from Guardiola as he brings off De Bruyne for Zabaleta.
82' Aguero almost weaves his way through the Leicester defence in the box, but Chilwell just gets a foot in before he can pull the trigger.
D. Gray
M. Albrighton
80' Albrighton is withdrawn from then action and replaced by Gray.
M. Albrighton
Yellow Card
79' Albrighton slides in hard on Fernandinho in perhaps retribution for his elbow to the eye earlier in the half. The Leicester winger is booked for the challenge.
S. Agüero
R. Sterling
78' Sterling makes way for Aguero.
R. Mahrez
Penalty Miss
77' BIZARRE! The ball goes into the net from Mahrez's spot-kick, but is ruled out. The winger slips on his approach and scuffs his left-footed strike off his right foot into the net. The referee does brilliantly to see the double kick and correctly rules out the goal.
76' PENALTY TO LEICESTER!  Clichy brings down Mahrez in the box and the referee points to the spot. An awful challenge from the Frenchman and Mahrez has a chance to equalise.
74' WIDE! Clichy passed up a shooting opportunity in the first half and this time he goes for goal, only to pull his strike well past the post.
I. Slimani
S. Okazaki
73' Slimani replaces Okazaki for the visitors in their search for an equaliser.
C. Fuchs
Yellow Card
72' Fuchs goes into the book for his challenge on Jesus.
72' Jesus wins the ball in a challenge with Fuchs and Sterling collects to raid into the box. His effort is deflected wide of the post by Chilwell and Schmeichel cannot stop the ball from going out for a corner.
70' SHOT! City regain the intiative and Toure lines up a strike from distance, but Schemeichel saves his strike with relative ease.
70' Jesus is released down the left flank and he has Sterling in support with only one man back for the Foxes. However, his pass across the box to Sterling is intercepted by the one defender - Fuchs - quelling the opening.
69' Amartey almost makes an immediate impact off the bench as he slides the ball into Okazaki's feet, but Kompany makes the intervention on the edge of the box.
D. Amartey
A. King
68' Amartey replaces King - who appears to be struggling with a leg injury.
66' Albrighton is in the wars as he catches another blow to the face. This time it's from the elbow of Fernandinho and raises a huge swelling just below his eye. He's going to continue, but that's a nasty one.
64' BLOCK! King gets back to make a vital block for his team to deny Toure from distance just when it seemed the Ivorian was set for one of his stunners from distance.
62' Sane collects Silva's pass down the left flank and fires a low ball across the face of goal, but there is no light blue shirt there to attack the cross. Perhaps a call for Aguero is needed to jolt City into life.
61' City have not managed to get going at all since the restart. Their lack of urgency has brought Guardiola out from the dugout to his technical area to bark instructions at his players.
58' Jesus eases the pressure on his side by winning a free-kick in the Leicester half. Guardiola's men need to respond to the pressure from the Foxes.
56' Toure has to get back to defend in the box to clear Chilwell's cross away from several blue shirts in the area. The visitors are taking the game to City.
54' Leicester have made a good start to the second half and are exerting pressure on the City backline. Okazaki's strike seems to have breathed life into the Foxes in the final third.
52' Sterling finds room for a cross down the right and sends the ball into the box. His delivery strikes Albrighton in the face and the Leicester man requires treatment on the pitch before we can continue.
V. Kompany
Yellow Card
50' Chilwell goes on a surge down the left flank and breaks into the City half before his progress is impeded by Kompany. It results in a booking for the City captain.
49' CHANCE! Vardy raids into the right channel and sends a good cross into the box for Albrighton. The winger takes on the shot first time, but he fails to connect strongly enough with his strike, allowing Caballero to make the save.
47' WIDE! City clear the long throw from Fuchs only as far as Albrighton on the edge of the box. He goes for the strike, but can only slice his effort well wide of the post.
46' A long ball over the top by Ndidi almost interests Vardy, but Otamendi comes across to clear the ball into touch. Fuchs will throw this one long into the box.
46' We're back underway at the Etihad.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway shortly.
Gabriel Jesus doubled their advantage from the penalty spot after Leroy Sane was fouled, but the visitors got themselves back into the game before half time when Shinji Okazaki fired home on the volley. The match remains evenly posed at the break.
Manchester City take a controversial 2-1 lead over Leicester into the break. David Silva opened the scoring, although the Foxes were furious as Raheem Sterling appeared to get the final touch while in an offside position.
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 2-1 LEICESTER
45' + 3' The referee ends the first half.
45' + 2' Otamendi has to make a vital clearance at the back to stop Okazaki from threatening after City lost possession in the middle of the park. A sloppy end to the half from the home side.
45' There will be two minutes of added time.
45' CHANCE! Sane breaks down the left and lifts his cross deep to the back post for Sterling. The winger backpeddles to meet the ball on the volley, only to fire his effort tamely into the hands of Schmeichel.
M. Albrighton
Assist
42' Albrighton collects down the left flank before checking back on to his right foot and his cross is perfect to Okazaki to shoot first time and score.
S. Okazaki
Goal
42' GOALLLLLL!!!!! OKAZAKI STRIKES! Leicester are back in the game as Okazaki scores a stunner, blasting his strike into the top corner. Albrighton creates the goal as he sends a pinpoint cross into the box and the forward meets it first time with his left foot to send the ball past Caballero. Game on.
38' Leicester have to commit men forward now to get back into the game and that should open up even more space for Guardiola's men to operate.
Gabriel Jesus
Penalty Goal
36' GOALLLLL!!!!! JESUS CONVERTS! City double their lead this afternoon as the Brazilian takes the spot-kick, and despite the best attempts of Schmeichel to put him off, the forward scores with ease - striking his effort into the bottom corner.
Y. Benalouane
Yellow Card
35' Benalouane goes into the book for his poor challenge on Sane.
35' PENALTY TO CITY! Benalouane dives in on Sane in the box and the referee points to the spot. A clear spot-kick for the home side.
33' City are encamped on the edge of the Leicester box and are probing away. This will be a test of the visitors' resolve.
31' Silva sends a throughball into the path of Fernandinho, who raids into the box. The Brazilian goes down under pressure from Benalouane, but the referee waves play on.
L. Sané
Assist
29' Sane raids down the left flank and his low cross is rewarded as Silva turns the ball into the net.
David Silva
Goal
29' GOALLLL!!!!!! CITY TAKE THE LEAD! Silva finds the back of the net with a scruffy effort as he converts Sane's cross into the bottom corner. However, there's controversy as Sterling appears to get a touch in an offside position to help the ball into the net - not that it needed it. The Leicester players are furious, but referee Madley awards the goal.
27' CHANCE! Sterling beats Chilwell down the right flank and puts the ball across the face of goal. Mahrez clears it away from danger, but only as far as Clichy. However, the Frenchman opts against the strike, while Sane's eventual effort is deflected wide.
25' SHOT! De Bruyne is afforded room 25 yards from goal to strike with his left foot. His effort has power and appears to be heading towards the net until Benalouane deflects the shot wide of the target.
23' OVER! Sane collects on the left flank and knocks the ball into the path of Sterling in the box, but his attempted strike on the half-volley is deflected over by Fuchs.
21' City clear their lines from Albrighton's delivery and a foul by the Leicester winger on Jesus allows the home side to reverse field position.
20' Schmeichel gathers the resulting corner from Kompany's looping header and has his side on the counter immediately. He knocks a great kick into the left channel for Vardy, who wins a free-kick in a good position after colliding with Clichy.
19' CHANCE! A poor clearance from Ndidi puts Leicester in trouble at the back and Silva cuts the ball back to Sane to strike. However, his effort lacks accuracy and Chilwell is able to scramble it behind for a corner.
17' Sterling voices his displeasure with referee Bobby Madley after his forward run is stopped by Chilwell down the flank. The official has a talking to with the City winger, who may have to watch his future conduct.
15' Leicester lose the ball in an advanced position and it allows City to break. Jesus slides a throughball looking for Sterling, although Schmeichel quells the danger by racing off his line and booting his clearance into touch.
12' Despite their dominance of possession, there has been no meaningful penetration yet from the home side - with the Foxes keeping them at bay in central areas.
10' City are dominating the early stages of the contest and are keeping the visitors pinned back in their own half. That may suit Leicester's style to break with Vardy in behind though.
8' CLOSE! De Bruyne sends a pinpoint ball across the face of goal for Gabriel Jesus to attack, but on the stretch he just cannot reach it , allowing Schmeichel to gather.
6' City probe down the left through Sane and Clichy, with the latter hitting a dangerous cross into the box. Benalouane does well at the near post to head clear before the Foxes scramble away the rebound.
5' Vardy latches on to a long ball over the top as he beats Otamendi for pace. He tries a first time shot in the box, but can only scuff his effort straight at Caballero.
4' CHANCE! Sane whips the ball in from the flank and Fernandinho beats the attention of Simpson to head at goal from close range, but he can only put his header wide of the target. That should have been the opener.
3' Sane has a surge down the left flank and sends a low cross into the box that is cleared behind by Fuchs for a corner.
2' De Bruyne sends the ball down the flank for Fernandinho's forward run, but Ndidi covers across and ushers the ball out for a goal-kick.
1' We're underway at the Eithad Stadium.
The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
STAT ATTACK! Leicester have won five out of their last six visits to City, with their only defeat coming in the 2014-15 campaign.
STAT ATTACK! City have won only two of their last seven Premier League matches against Leicester, including their loss to the Foxes earlier this season at the King Power Stadium.
Christian Fuchs moves across into centre-back this afternoon as both Wes Morgan and Robert Huth have been ruled out, while Ben Chilwell comes into left-back to replace the German in the side.
Leicester have made two changes from their win over Watford last time out. Danny Drinkwater will miss the rest of the season due to injury and is replaced in the midfield by Andy King.
City are unchanged from their 5-0 hammering of Palace last week. That means there is no return to the starting line-up for Sergio Aguero, with Guardiola keeping faith in Gabriel Jesus to lead the line - supported by Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on the flanks.
Leicester subs: Musa, Amartey, Kapustka, Slimani, Zieler, Gray, Wasilewski.
LEICESTER CITY (4-4-2): Schmeichel; Simpson, Benalouane, Fuchs, Chilwell; Mahrez, King, Ndidi, Albrighton; Okazaki, Vardy.
Man City subs: Zabaleta, Fernando, Nolito, Aguero, Kolarov, Navas, Gunn.
MANCHESTER CITY (4-1-4-1): Caballero; Fernandinho, Kompany, Otamendi, Clichy; Toure; Sterling, De Bruyne, Silva; Sane; Gabriel Jesus.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
The Foxes put in a brilliant performance on their last visit to the Etihad in their surge to the title. Robert Huth scored a brace that day, while Riyad Mahrez also notched a strike on their way to delivering an important result.
Leicester can move above West Brom into eighth place with a victory today, signifying a huge turnaround in their fortunes since Craig Shakespeare replaced Claudio Ranieri.
City can move ahead of Liverpool with a victory today into third place, but they may have to win out to stave off the threat. Finishing outside of the top four this term would be unthinkable, especially in Guardiola's first season in charge.
Pep Guardiola's side crushed Crystal Palace in their last outing, keeping the club on course for a place in the Champions League. However, Arsenal's re-emergence in the top-four race means that City have to keep on winning, beginning with the Foxes to secure their spot.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium.
