Commentary

Thanks for joining us for live coverage of the 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Tottenham in the Premier League at Anfield.
Liverpool move to the top of the table above Manchester City on goal difference, but will feel that they have lost ground as their title rivals now have a game in hand. They had enough chances to win the game, but will now have to turn their attentions to another big fixture when they travel to Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa on Tuesday. The point for the visitors means they miss out on the chance to move above Arsenal, though they have the chance to put that right when they host their bitter North London rivals on Thursday in what will be a vital game in the race for top four.
The final whistle goes to end a brilliant game, with the final scoreline 1-1. It was a thrilling first-half, with both sides hitting the frame of the goal. Firstly, the hosts hit the woodwork as Van Dijk's header from an Alexander-Arnold corner crashed off the bar. Then, Hojbjerg could only watch his shot from distance deflect off the outside of the left post and wide. Diaz and Mane also went close for Liverpool, but the game went to the break goalless. The visitors were the team to break the deadlock, after Kane laid the ball to his left to Sessegnon. The former Fulham man kept his calm to pull the ball back to Son, who fired home. The hosts desperately tried to find a leveller, but Tottenham defended resolutely with some important blocks. However their resistance was finally broken on 74 minutes, when a Diaz shot from range deflected off Bentancur, wrongfooting Lloris and nestling into the bottom corner. Both teams had chances to win the game, but neither could take them and the two sides will split the points.

74' Liverpool are level!!! Diaz is the scorer, though his effort from 25 yards out takes a wicked deflection off Bentancur. He cut onto his right before firing at goal, and his shot comes off Bentancur's leg and wrongfoots Lloris, nestling into the bottom corner to make it 1-1.
73' Vital block! Salah cuts onto his left foot in the area, and it looks as if he is going to fire home until Davies gets in with another sensational block. The Welshman has played well tonight.
72' Spurs have only won one of their last 18 Premier League games against Liverpool, but are less than 20 minutes away from another victory here.

64' Van Dijk nods a corner down to Diaz, but the winger's spinning effort is blocked by Davies.

Assist

Son Heung-Min
Goal
56' Spurs take the lead!!! Son is the scorer, after a brilliant move from the visitors. Kane drives towards goal, before laying it to his left to Sessegnon. The young winger keeps his composure to pull it back to Son in the middle, who strokes it into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
55' Son drives into the box and has Kane to his left, but he opts to cut in and shoot. It ends up being the wrong decision, as the shot is easily blocked.
B. Davies
Yellow Card
53' Davies is the first player to go in the referee's book, after dragging down Salah as Liverpool looked to counter.
52' Kane is again caught by Fabinho in midfield, but escapes a booking once more despite Kane's protests.
51' Alexander-Arnold floats another cross over, but Romero does brilliantly to head it clear as Diaz came charging in at the back post.
49' Lloris throws the ball straight to Salah, but the Egyptian's dinked ball through to Mane is headed clear by Dier. That's a big let-off for the French goalkeeper.
48' The hosts have come flying out the blocks at the start of this half, as they look to find the opening goal.
46' Liverpool get us back underway for the second period.
We should be in for an exciting second half, as both sides look to pick up a vital three points for their respective league objectives. This is the second-highest scoring fixture in Premier League history and both teams have firepower off the bench, so how long will Klopp and Conte leave it before looking to bring on the likes of Jota and Moura?
The referee blows his whistle to end a lively first half, that somehow goes to the break goalless. It's a half that the hosts have largely dominated, going closest through a Van Dijk header that hit the bar and went over from an Alexander-Arnold corner. Diaz and Mane also went close, though the visitors nearly grabbed a goal of their own as Hojbjerg watched his shot from distance hit the outside of the post. However, neither side could break the deadlock and we go to the interval with the scoreline 0-0.

45' The referee has added on one minute of additional time at the end of this first half.

43' Great save! More clever play by the hosts allows Mane to tee up Diaz for a shot outside the box, but Lloris is down quickly to his left to tip the Colombian's drive wide.
41' Liverpool have a free-kick 25 yards out from goal, but Alexander-Arnold's shot after a Salah lay-off hits the wall and deflects away from danger.
39' Off the bar!!! Van Dijk leaps to meet an Alexander-Arnold corner from the left, but his header crashes off the top of the bar and goes over. That's a couple of chances the Dutch defender has had to put his side into the lead now.
38' Alexander-Arnold whips another good delivery into the Spurs box, but Dier does well to nod it behind for a corner as Konate was ready to pounce.
36' Salah claims for a free-kick outside the box, after Davies appears to catch him. However, the referee waves play on.
35' The Reds have had over 66% of the possession so far but as of yet, they haven't been able to find a way to break the deadlock.
33' Alexander-Arnold tries to set Salah through on goal, but the pass is well overhit and the ball races through to Lloris.
32' Alexander-Arnold stands over a free-kick in a dangerous crossing position, after Bentancur fouls Salah on the right touchline. The delivery is initially headed clear, but another ball in is headed back across goal by Diaz. However, Lloris is alert again to come and collect before any harm can be done.
30' Son whips a corner in, but the delivery is poor and hits the first man. Spurs will have to take advantage of those situations if they want to come away with a result here.
28' Lloris makes a vital tip wide, as Sessegnon inexplicably headed across the face of his own goal. Salah came steaming in at the back post, but the French goalkeeper was able to push it wide before Salah could bundle it home.
26' Fabinho is perhaps lucky to escape a booking after catching Kane in midfield. The referee gives him a stern warning, as Kane hoists himself off the turf.
24' Alexander-Arnold fizzes an effort from range at goal, but Lloris can watch it fly well over his crossbar. The hosts are getting closer though to a vital opening goal.
22' Robertson curls a corner over from the left, and Van Dijk times his jump perfectly to get his head to it. However, the Dutchman's header is poor and flies well wide. He'll be disappointed not to have done better there.
20' Davies shows good strength to play the ball off Salah for a goal-kick, as the Liverpool forward tried to make space for a shot in the box.
18' Royal does well to leap highest at the back post to nod clear an Alexander-Arnold cross, as Diaz and Mane lurked around him.
16' Kulusevski tries to bring down a Sessegnon cross but the ball bounces and hits his arm, as referee Michael Oliver awards the hosts a free-kick.
14' Kulusevki is momentarily down in pain after a coming together with Thiago. The Swede clutches at his thigh, but he's now up and looks okay to continue.
12' Hojbjerg picks out Kane at the back post, and the English striker takes it down with a nice touch. He then shifts onto his left foot, but Henderson is able to block his shot away from danger.
11' Salah cuts onto his left as the hosts counter, but Dier and Davies combine to block the Egyptian's low shot behind for a corner.
9' The hosts have only lost one of their last 27 Premier League home matches against Spurs, winning 18 of them.
7' A Kane whipped cross is punched out to Bentancur outside the area. The midfielder hits it first time, but Alisson is down quickly to his right to gather it with relative ease.
5' Conte's men are struggling to get a hold of the ball right now, as Liverpool look to work an opening for an early goal.
3' Mane then hits an effort from range, but his dipping shot is straight at Lloris.
2' It's the hosts who have the first attack of the evening, as Alexander-Arnold lofts a cross to the back post. Robertson nods it back across, but Mane can't get enough contact on his acrobatic effort and Tottenham clear.
1' The visitors kick us off and we are underway. Who will make the better start?
The two teams make their way onto the pitch ahead of this massive game for both sides.
Visiting boss Antonio Conte goes with only one alteration from the 3-1 home win over Leicester City last time out, with Kulusevski preferred to Moura on the right-wing. The Swede will play alongside the deadly combination of Kane and Son in a front three.
Home head coach Jurgen Klopp makes two changes from the midweek win over Villarreal, as Henderson comes in for Keita in midfield. Diaz also replaces Jota on the left-wing, as the Colombian will partner Mane and Salah up front.

The visitors meanwhile are embroiled in their own battle in the league, as they look to beat out their North London rivals Arsenal for the final Champions League qualification spot. They are on a good run themselves having been victorious in five of their last seven Premier League matches, and will move above Arsenal into fourth with a win here.
The hosts come into this big game in second place, knowing that a win will move them top of the table above Manchester City. They are on an incredible run, winning 13 out of their last 14 league matches, and head into this match off the back of a 3-2 midweek win over Villarreal that secured their place in the Champions League final. Three points here would be another step closer to an extraordinary quadruple.
