Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Juve are next in action in Serie A on Saturday on the road at Fiorentina as they look to extend their lead at the top of the table. Valencia take on Real Madrid in LaLiga in their next outing at the Bernabeu also on Saturday.
Juventus secure their place in the next stage of the Champions League with a 1-0 victory over Valencia. As a result of their defeat this evening and a late winner for Manchester United against Young Boys, Valencia are out of the competition, which will force them to settle for a spot in the Europa League. The Spanish side were undone Mario Mandzukic's strike, although it could have been a different story had Wojciech Szczesny not produced a fine save to deny Mouctar Diakhaby just before half-time. Juventus were good enough, producing one moment of magic through Cristiano Ronaldo who teed up Mandzukic for a tap-in, to earn the thee points at Allianz Stadium.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: JUVENTUS 1-0 VALENCIA
90' + 3' Gabriel works the ball towards Soler on the edge of the box, but he slips before he can strike at goal, allowing the home side to clear the danger.
90' + 2' Valencia have lacked a threat in the final third in the second half. An equaliser does not appear to be forthcoming in the dying stages.
90' There will be three minutes of added time.
89' Douglas Costa lines up an effort from distance from the right side of the field, but he sends his strike harmlessly over the bar.
87' Juve are looking to add the finishing touches to the result here. A victory would send them through as group winners if Manchester United are unable to beat Young Boys.
85' Chiellini is down on the deck after colliding with Gameiro. However, he quickly gets back to his feet after a brief period of treatment.
84' Valencia have men forward on the attack, but the ball just doesn't break for Gameiro in the box, allowing Szczesny to gather ahead of the forward.
B. Matuidi
Yellow Card
83' Matuidi joins the procession in the book as he brings down Soler.
82' CHANCE! Juve make a mess of a clearance from a Valencia corner as Pjanic plays the ball straight to Soler. The midfielder goes for the first-time strike, only to place his effort past the post.
81' SAVE! Cuadrado curls a dangerous cross to the back post for Ronaldo. The Portuguese works it back towards Mandzukic in the middle, who strikes at goal, only to fire straight at Neto.
80' Guedes does brilliantly down the left to skip past two challenges before sending a low cross into the box, but the ball is cut out by Chiellini on the stretch ahead of Batshuayi.
Douglas Costa
P. Dybala
79' Dybala makes way for the hosts to be replaced by Douglas Costa.
79' Ronaldo pulls into space on the left flank. The Portuguese does not have a great deal of support so he goes for the strike from a difficult angle, firing his effort wide of the target.
77' Parejo and Batshuayi combine on the edge of the box, but the Belgian smashes his effort into the legs of Bonucci.
76' Juve are finding space all over the pitch now. Valencia are pushing men forward for the equaliser, but have to be careful not to over commit at this stage. There's still plenty of time.
M. Batshuayi-Atunga
Yellow Card
74' The challenges have not been the best in the game and Batshuayi is guilty of a poor one on Cuadrado, sending him into the book.
74' SAVE! Juve win a corner down the left flank and Pjanic curls a dangerous cross into the middle. Ronaldo gets a good leap to head his effort at goal, only to be denied by a decent save from Neto.
Carlos Soler
G. Kondogbia
72' Soler replaces Kondogbia in the middle of the park for Valencia.
71' The tempo of the game has increased, and although Juve have the lead, it could play into the hands of the visitors for the contest to be open.
Gonçalo Guedes
Yellow Card
69' Guedes is the latest player to head into the book as he fouls Cancelo on the flank.
68' SAVE! Dybala turns into space on the edge of the box and tries to curl an effort over Neto. He connects well with his strike, but the Valencia keeper does well to drop back to turn his effort over the bar.
M. Batshuayi-Atunga
Santi Mina
67' Santi Mina is withdrawn for the visitors and is replaced by Batshuayi.
66' Space opens up for Ronaldo to strike at goal in the final third and he strikes a rasping effort just over the bar.
63' CHANCE! Mandzukic could double his side's lead as he latches on to Diakhaby's failed clearance from Pjanic's cross. He meets the ball in the right inside channel first time on the volley, but he fails to generate any power on his effort and hits the ball straight at Neto.
M. Diakhaby
Yellow Card
61' Diakhaby is booked for deliberately handling the ball in the Juve box.
61' DISALLOWED GOAL! It's not Diakhaby's night as he sees a goal disallowed for handball. Parejo delivers the resulting free-kick into the box for Diakhaby to attack. He glances the ball into the back of the net, but the Juve players are adamant that he did so with his hand. The referee agrees and the replays show that the defender did indeed use his arm.
J. Cuadrado
Yellow Card
60' Cuadrado fouls Guedes with a late boot on the flank and goes into the book.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Assist
59' Ronaldo collects in the left inside channel and beats Gabriel with quick feet before firing a perfect low ball for Mandzukic to convert.
M. Mandžukić
Goal
59' GOALLLLLLLLL!!!! MANDZUKIC PUTS JUVE AHEAD!! 1-0!!! The home side take the lead and a moment of magic from Ronaldo unlocks the Valencia defence. The Portuguese collects in the left inside channel and uses a fine piece of skill to gain half-a-yard on Gabriel. He fires a low ball across the face of goal that sees Mandzukic get the wrong side of Gaya, and he has simple task to tap in to the back of the net.
58' Cuadrado swings an early cross into the box from the right flank. Ronaldo rises, but he heads the ball straight into the air. Gabriel and Mandzukic grapple for the resulting ball and end up on the deck, but the visitors are able to clear the danger.
56' Bentancur is a fraction late with a challenge on Gaya down the left flank, but the referee lets the challenge go unpunished with a card. That will likely be his final warning.
55' Neto plays out a poor pass from the back and sends the ball straight out of play as he attempted to find Wass on the right. Valencia don't want to play into the home side's hands here by making a mistake at the back.
53' Valencia are trying to get their foot on the ball to take the sting out of Juve's response since the restart.
51' Cancelo draws the ire of the Valencia players as he catches Coquelin late as he attempts to slide to keep the ball in play. There's no free-kick or card from the referee.
49' Juve are knocking the ball long earlier in the second half, attempting to get into the space behind the Spanish side.
47' Dybala is brought down by Diakhaby 30 yards from goal and the referee awards a free-kick. Ronaldo goes for the strike at goal from distance, only to fire his effort straight at Neto.
46' We're back underway at Allianz Stadium.
J. Cuadrado
Alex Sandro
46' Surprisingly Alex Sandro is withdrawn for Juve and Cuadrado comes on to the pitch. That could see Cancelo switch flanks.
K. Gameiro
Rodrigo
46' Rodrigo makes way for Gameiro at the break for the visitors.
Massimiliano Allegri will have been concerned about his side's lack of potency. It's the second time in two games they've struggled for fluency at home in the Champions League. Allegri will want to see more from his team in the second half, while Marcelino on the other hand will be delighted. Look for Valencia to be a threat on the counter as the contest continues.
It's all square at the break at Allianz Stadium. Juventus have dominated possession, but Valencia came the closest to scoring when Mouctar Diakhaby's header was brilliantly saved by Wojciech Szczesny. The home side have been frustrated for most of the first half, with Joao Cancelo and Cristiano Ronaldo failing to test Neto with their efforts. The Spanish side had seen an attempt from Daniel Wass travel wide of the post before Diakhaby came so close to breaking the deadlock.
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: JUVENTUS 0-0 VALENCIA
45' WHAT A SAVE! Szczesny denies Diakhaby with a wonder save. Valencia win a corner just before the break and Parejo puts the ball on the money towards the near post. Diakhaby makes the run and beats Bonucci to power a header towards the net. The ball travels with pace and looks to be beyond the Juve keeper. However, he stretches back just enough gets a strong hand to the ball to turn it away from goal. Diakhaby is convinced that it has crossed the line, but the referee points only to end the half.
G. Kondogbia
Yellow Card
43' Kondogbia slides in hard on Bentancur and goes into the book.
42' WIDE! Cancelo surges into the right inside channel and goes for the ambitious strike with the outside of his boot, only to bend his effort wide of the target. Ronaldo was unimpressed with his team-mate there as he demanded the ball at his feet in the box.
41' Ronaldo breaks forward as he capitalises on a mistake from Parejo. He drives to the edge of the box, but opts to offload to Dybala instead of shooting. The Argentine doesn't expect the pass and fails to take the ball in stride, losing possession.
39' Valencia have been impressive at the back thus far. They've contested every Juve break towards the edge of the box.
37' Mandzukic makes another foray down the left flank and this time he floats a cross to the back post. Gaya is the Valencia defender positioned perfectly on this occasion to head away from danger.
36' Mandzukic makes a burst down the left flank and cuts the ball back into the middle for the run of Ronaldo. However, Diakhaby is well placed to head clear ahead of the Portuguese.
35' Frustration is starting to creep in for the home side. They've not been able to play their natural game this evening. It doesn't happen to them very often, especially at home.
33' Space opens up for Bentancur from Dybala's pass, but he takes an awful first touch and wastes a promising position for the hosts.
José Gayà
Yellow Card
31' Gaya is slightly late on Cancelo down the flank and he goes into the book.
29' Chiellini lands with a thud on the deck after leaping for Pjanic's cross from a corner. However, the veteran defender is able to get to his feet.
28' WIDE! Guedes lifts a cross into the box that is deflected into the path of Wass in the right inside channel. The full-back goes for the strike on the half-volley, only to place his effort just wide of the target. Szczesny put in a concerned dive as the ball trickled past the post.
26' PENALTY SHOUT! Pjanic runs at Kondogbia in the box and goes down under pressure. He turns on the ground to look at the referee, but the official waves away his appeal.
25' Sandro continues to find space down the left and he fires another cross into the box. Gabriel makes the first clearance, but has to scramble and slide to stop the ball heading out for a corner.
24' WIDE! Sandro is played into space down the left and he cuts the ball back for Ronaldo to strike on his left foot. However, Kondogia provides late pressure to force the Portuguese to fire his effort wide of the post.
22' Dybala attempts to offload on the edge of the box, but his pass is intercepted on the stretch by Gabriel. However, Pjanic reacts to the loose ball, only to see his strike charged down by a wall of Valencia defenders.
20' Finally there is space for Dybala to attack and he raids down the right flank before sending a cross into the box. Gaya tracking back opts to head away from danger, conceding a corner in the process.
18' The home side are not having the game their way at the moment. Valencia are employing a tough defensive stance that's hurrying the Juve players in possession.
16' Alex Sandro surges forward and goes for an early cross into the box. Gabriel and Diakhaby are well placed, but Neto makes the call to make the claim.
15' Cancelo drops his shoulder on the right flank and digs out a cross to the back post. Mandzukic challenges with Wass for a header, but the defender does enough to stifle his attempt.
R. Bentancur
Yellow Card
13' Bentancur brings down Guedes on the charge down the left and goes into the book.
12' Juve are trying to find their feet in the contest, but the defensive shape employed by the visitors is making life difficult for them to bring Ronaldo and Mandzukic into the game.
10' Bonucci floats a cross forward for the run of Ronaldo in the left inside channel. He collects with his back to goal and then goes for the cross into the middle. Mandzukic is eased out of the way by Diakhaby and he's not thrilled with the amount of contact as he hits the deck. The referee is not interested though.
9' It has been an easy tempo to start the contest as both sides are attempting to build a rhythm in their passing games.
8' Juve build down the right flank and there's time for Cancelo to whip in a cross towards the near post, but Neto comes out to claim the ball with ease.
6' Guedes and Gaya link up well down the left flank, but his low cross is cut out by Bonucci. However, the visitors keep the pressure on, although Cancelo is able to play his way out of trouble by smacking the ball off the legs of Gaya.
4' Alex Sandro tries to get the better of Coquelin down the left flank, but the ball strikes the hand of the Valencia midfielder, resulting in a free-kick for the home side.
2' Alex Sandro finds space in the final third and he tees up Ronaldo for an effort at goal, only for the Portuguese to place his effort straight at Neto.
1' We're underway at Allianz Stadium.
The players are out on the pitch so we should be underway shortly.
Juventus have lost just three of their 32 previous home games against Spanish opponents in all European competition (W19 D10), though one of these was in their most recent such game (0-3 vs Real Madrid in April).
Valencia defeated Rayo Vallecano 3-0 at the weekend, but Marcelino has made one change to the side. Kondogbia replaces Soler in the midfielder, which could see Coquelin drift out to the right flank. Santi Mina scored a brace in the victory and he leads the line alongside Rodrigo Moreno once again.
Juventus defeated SPAL at the weekend in a 2-0 triumph in Serie A. Massimiliano Allegri has made five changes to his team from the victory. Szczesny, Cancelo, Bonucci, Matuidi and Dybla come into the side, with Perin, Rugani, Douglas Costa and Juan Cuadrado dropping to the bench. Mattia De Sciglio misses out completely on selection this evening.
SUBS: Jaume Domenech, Jeison Murillo, Carlos Soler, Kevin Gameiro, Toni Lato, Cristiano Piccini, Michy Batshuayi.
VALENCIA (4-4-2): Neto; Daniel Wass, Gabriel Paulista, Mouctar Diakhaby, Jose Gaya; Francis Coquelin, Daniel Parejo, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Goncalo Guedes; Rodrigo Moreno, Santi Mina.
SUBS: Medhi Benatia, Douglas Costa, Andrea Barzagli, Juan Cuadrado, Moise Kean, Mattia Perin, Daniele Rugani.
JUVENTUS (4-3-3): Wojciech Szczesny; Joao Cancelo, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Rodrigo Bentancur, Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi; Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo.
It's all to play for in Group G after Juventus failed to wrap up the group last time out, suffering a late 2-1 defeat to Manchester United. The Bianconeri could have secured their place in the next phase of the competition with a point, but have left themselves exposed to a potential shock. Valencia have to take all three points to have a realistic chance of advancing into the last 16. They defeated Young Boys last time out to pull within two points of United and four within Juve, putting the spotlight on them this evening to pull off a positive result.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League clash between Juventus and Valencia at Allianz Stadium.
