Commentary

That is all for today folks, thanks for joining us. Goodbye!!
Sampdoria will push a number of teams close this season if they can play like that, but Juventus just continue to do enough and that is the sign of a very good team.
Two penalties from Ronaldo secure all three points for Juventus, who should feel like they got away with that result today. Both of Sampdoria's penalties looked soft, while they also had a goal ruled out for offside. In all fairness, Sampdoria's goal also came via a soft penalty call and Quagliarella stepped up with real confidence to score. Unlike last time out against Atalanta, Juventus managed to hold on and they extend their lead at the top of the table.
90' + 8' FULL-TIME - JUVENTUS 2-1 SAMPDORIA.
90' + 7' Costa tries one final run but he is stopped in his tracks on the edge of the box!
90' + 5' Juventus have done well since the disallowed goal to get hold of the ball and waste some time.
R. Saponara
Yellow Card
90' + 3' Saponara enters the book after taking his shirt off after scoring.
90' + 2' GOAL DISALLOWED!!! The home fans are silenced as Saponara scores a sensational goal from the edge of the box. He wheels away in delight before the referee considers VAR. Replays showed he was offside from Defrel's backheel. We play on at 2-1!
90' Eight minutes of time added!
89' We will need a break here as Perin is clattered in the air by Defrel. Both look to be sat up but treatment is needed.
87' Juventus pile forward with Ronaldo, Dybala and Pjanic all trying to shoot. The trio struggle for space so Can is played in, but he curls the ball into the stands. To say he is frustrated would be an understatement.
84' Sampdoria try their best to get into Juve's box but Quagliarella decides to take the shot early and fires into the palms of Perin.
J. Jankto
A. Ekdal
82' A final change in midfield sees Ekdal replaced by Jankto.
Douglas Costa
B. Matuidi
82' Allegri decides to bring off Matuidi and he adds some extra pace to the attack as Costa enters the game.
80' Ronaldo tries to end the game on his own and grab a hat-trick, but he fails to generate any power behind his latest shot. He ran sideways to get space but fired straight into the hands of Audero.
77' WIDE! Sampdoria respond immediately and they are inches away from finding an equaliser. Quagliarella gets in between both centre-backs and sticks out his leg to try and volley home a cross but he fires past the far post.
75' CHANCE!! Dybala wastes a good chance at the back post and he should be doing much better. He had so much time to latch onto the cross and finish, but he can only fire into the stands.
R. Saponara
G. Ramírez
72' After a quiet game, Ramirez is now replaced by Saponara.
D. Rugani
Yellow Card
71' Yellow card Daniele Rugani
70' With his second goal of the game, Ronaldo has scored the 100th Juventus goal in 2018 in all competitions.
F. Bernardeschi
M. Mandžukić
69' Defensive change for Juventus as Manduzkic is replaced by Bernardeschi.
68' Quagliarella scares the home crowd with a brilliant attempt from inside the box. After receiving the ball from the right, he chested it down and blasted his shot towards goal but he can only fire over the bar.
G. Defrel
G. Caprari
67' Sampdoria bring off Caprari and on comes Defrel.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Penalty Goal
66' GOAAAALLLLLLLL - Juventus 2-1 Sampdoria!!! Ronaldo makes no mistake from the spot as he drills the ball down the middle of the goal. Sampdoria will feel very hard done to but they have 25 minutes to respond!
65' Penalty call stands...Ronaldo to take the spot-kick.
64' The referee is now consulting VAR!!!
63' Juventus win another corner and the referee points to the spot as the ball hits Ferrari on the arm. That looked harsh and he may need to consider VAR before Ronaldo can take the penalty!
62' PENALTY JUVENTUS!!!
61' BLOCK! Ronaldo makes a late run into the box and he looks destined to score as he powerfully heads towards the top corner. However, Colley gets in the way at the last second to concede a corner.
58' CHANCE - Ronaldo peels away at the far post and plays in Sandro who floats a cross looking for Matuidi or Mandzukic. However, Sampdoria get a touch at the last second to concede a corner.
56' Juventus haven’t conceded more than one goal at home in a single Serie A game since October 2017; a run of 23 matches. Can Sampdoria break that?
54' Approaching the hour mark and yet to see any subs made...who will make the first move?
51' GREAT SAVE!!!!! Sampdoria have Audero to thank after he pulls off a superb stop to deny Matuidi. The Frenchman latched onto a poor clearance, took one touch and then fired a volley towards goal. The only issue was Audero and he got down quickly to deny the home side!
50' Sampdoria are now sitting back a little deeper and Juventus will need to work harder in order to retake the lead.
48' Sampdoria fire right back and Caprari latches onto a pass before turning and shooting towards the far corner but Perin gets down to deny him.
47' Juventus make another fast start as Mandzukic goes on a solo run but his cross can only find the hands of Audero.
46' We are back underway in Turin!
Both teams have shown their ability on the ball, but we just need to see more quality in the final third. Perin has made a handful of saves and Sampdoria need to test him much more in the second 45 minutes.
All square at the break and those in attendance will not have wanted the half to end after a frantic final 15 minutes. The contest started off slowly with Ronaldo firing Juventus in front. However, a contentious penalty was converted by Quagliarella and we now have a real game on our hands.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME - JUVENTUS 1-1 SAMPDORIA.
45' + 2' Allegri's men win a free-kick near the halfway line but they still register a shot on goal. The pass picks out Chiellini but he can only head past the near post and he should have done better.
45' Three minutes of stoppage time in Turin...
43' Ronaldo causes unrest in the Sampdoria defence as he dribbles towards goa. However, he cannot bring the ball under control at the final hurdle as he lets it roll from under his studs and the visitors clear.
42' SAVE! Juventus go close on two occasions, but it remains 1-1 in Turin. Firstly, Dybala stung the palms of Audero who could only tee up Ronaldo but his cross towards Mandzukic was just too long and Sampdoria win a goal kick.
40' Five minutes remaining and both teams are going for the second goal and there's every chance we get a third before the break.
38' CHANCE - Sampdoria win another set piece on the left wing a Ferrari latches onto the cross at the back post but he can only produce a tame volley and Perin saves.
A. Ferrari
Yellow Card
37' Ferrari is now into the book after trying a bicycle kick, but he did not realise Sandro was coming to tackle him and his reckless play has now been punished.
B. Matuidi
Yellow Card
36' Matuidi collides with Linetty in midfield and the referee decides to show him a card for the challenge. Free-kick to come for Sampdoria in a good position!
35' Juventus look stunned by that call and Allegri is seen chuckling on the touchline. That shows what he thinks of the incident, but his team need to move on.
F. Quagliarella
Penalty Goal
33' GOAAALLLLLLL - Juventus 1-1 Sampdoria - Quagliarella stepped up with so much confidence and he smashes the ball past Perin who dived to his right. Quagliarella went the other way and we now have a real game on our hands!
32' PENALTY AWARDED!!!! The referee heads across the touchline and decides that Can raised his arm as he tried to challenge Ekdal. Sampdoria now have the chance to draw level...Quagliarella to take the penalty!
31' The referee is now looking at VAR after claims Can handballed the ball before it reached Sandro in the Juve box...
30' CHANCE - Juventus allow Sampdoria to have a free header at the near post and are nearly punished. Ekdal flicked the header towards goal but Sandro is on the line and heads clear.
29' Matuidi is back on the field as Sampdoria win a corner...
26' We have our first break in play after Matuidi goes down injured. The France international got caught in the face with the ball but he is back to his feet while the physios see to him.
24' SO CLOSE! Juventus play their way around the Sampdoria box with some lovely one-touch football before Dybala peels away and readies himself for a shot. The former Palermo man whips his foot around the ball, but he cannot beat Audero in the Sampdoria goal.
22' Dybala is looking dangerous so far and if he continues in the same vein then he could well score this afternoon.
20' Sampdoria are working hard to try and win the ball back but their front three have just been passengers so far.
18' Allegri will be pleased with his team's start, but he will be hoping to see an improvement in the final third, with several crosses coming to nothing.
16' Juventus are doing all they can to play down the flanks with Ronaldo and Dybala seeing plenty of the action so far.
14' Nearly a third of the way through this first half and Sampdoria have barely had a touch so far.
12' Ronaldo takes on several players down the left wing before picking out Pjanic but the midfielder can only fire the ball into the feet of Can and Sampdoria clear their lines.
10' Praet will have to be careful now after chopping down Sandro and he gets a warning from the referee.
8' Juventus struggled with set pieces during their draw with Atalanta and Sampdoria will be trying to punish them if they get the opportunity.
6' Despite scoring early, Juventus cannot switch off today due to Sampdoria's form in front of goal. They have netted 14 goals in December 2018, more than any other team in Serie A in the that period.
4' What a start for Juventus! Sampdoria switched off at the back for a split second and Ronaldo punishes them with ease. This could be a long afternoon if they are not careful!
Cristiano Ronaldo
Goal
2' GOAAALLLLLL - Juventus 1-0 Sampdoria - Ronaldo opens the scoring with his first strike of the contest. The former Real Madrid man received the ball from the right wing from Dybala and he made the finish look so easy. A little turn onto his right foot gave him space and he curled it home past Audero who should have done better.
P. Dybala
Assist
2' Dybala claims the assist and it is a superb pass which tees up Ronaldo. The forward switched the play to give Ronaldo some breathing room and he watched as the Portugal international found the bottom corner.
1' We are now underway in Turin, with Juve in their traditional black and white strip, with Sampdoria all blue.
The two teams are now out on the field!
LATE CHANGE!! Juventus have confirmed that Szczesny will now not start the game in what is a last-minute substitution, meaning Perin comes into the starting XI for the home side.
If the record books are anything to go by, then Sampdoria may struggle today. Juventus have won eight of their last 10 games against today's visitors in Serie A.
Allegri makes four changes after the disappointing 2-2 draw with Atalanta last time out, with Rugani, Pjanic, Matuidi, Ronaldo all coming in to replace Bonucci, Bentancur, Khedira and Costa. Sampdoria coach Marco Giampaolo makes two alterations to his team as Ferrari and Ramirez replace Andersen and Saponara.

SAMPDORIA (4-3-1-2): Emil Audero; Jacopo Sala, Alex Ferrari, Omar Colley, Nicola Murru; Dennis Praet, Albin Ekdal, Karol Linetty; Gaston Ramirez; Gianluca Caprari, Fabio Quagliarella (c).
SUBS: Medhi Benatia, Carlo Pinsoglio, Leonardo Bonucci, Sami Khedira, Douglas Costa, Federico Bernardeschi, Mattia Perin, Moise Kean, Leonardo Spinazzola.

Juventus currently have a nine-point cushion at the top of the table, while Sampdoria sit in fifth. A win for the visitors would lift them into fourth until Lazio play Torino.
Massimiliano Allegri's men will look to extend their lead at the top of the league table, with their rivals in action later today. Juve are in good form having lost just one of their last five, but it is Sampdoria who have the better record. They are unbeaten in seven matches heading into this game in Turin.
