Commentary

Thank you for joining our coverage, we hope you enjoyed the game! Until next time, goodbye!
Basaksehir, who are now unable to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, travel to face PSG in their next Champions League game, while Leipzig host Manchester United.
There goes the full-time whistle! What a game! RB Leipzig were in control of the contest at 2-0 and 3-1 up via a Sabitzer strike that deflected off Poulsen, a low effort from Mukiele and a lovely solo effort from Olmo, but Kahveci scored a stunning hat-trick, netting just before the break from a corner routine before striking a sweet long-range effort and an absolutely unstoppable free-kick in to level the scores, but a late goal from Sorloth proved enough to win Leipzig the game! It finishes 4-3 to Leipzig in Istanbul!
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: ISTANBUL BASAKSEHIR 3-4 RB LEIPZIG
V. Orban
A. Haidara
90' + 4' Nagelsmann looks to see out the final seconds as he replaces Haidara with an extra defender in Orban.
90' + 3' CHANCE! MASSIVE CHANCE FOR BASAKSEHIR! Gulacsi spills a cross into the box but Crivelli somehow fires wide as he latches onto the loose ball from just a few yards out!
Y. Poulsen
Assist
90' + 2' Poulsen advanced to the edge of the box on the right and squared to his strike-partner in a dangerous position just outside the area.
A. Sørloth
Goal
90' + 2' GOAL!!! SORLOTH HAS SURELY WON IT FOR LEIPZIG!!!! The substitute tries his luck with a fiercely-struck effort from the edge of the box and it swerves past the unsighted Gunok and in! It's 4-3 to Leipzig!
90' CROSSBAR! The free-kick is delivered into a packed Basaksehir box and Gunok comes out to punch clear, but he can only hit it against Sorloth and it rattles off the bar and stays out!
Rafael
Yellow Card
89' Rafael is booked as Kluivert jinks past him, draws the foul and goes down. The Brazilian might feel that his booking was another soft one.
J. Kluivert
Daniel Olmo
87' Olmo is off for the pace and trickery of Kluivert as Nagelsmann now finds himself chasing a goal in the closing stages.
İ. Kahveci
Goal
85' GOAL!!! IT'S A HAT-TRICK FOR KAHVECI!!! The midfielder stands over a free-kick on the right and strikes an unstoppable effort over the wall with plenty of pace and dip that cannons in off the crossbar! Gulacsi could only stand and watch! It's 3-3!
E. Crivelli
F. Gulbrandsen
84' Gulbrandsen is off for Crivelli in the closing stages as Buruk throws fresh legs on in an attempt to snatch a late equaliser.
82' Leipzig just haven't controlled the game in the second half. They've allowed the game to remain open and haven't been clinical, and there's a nervousness about the side in the closing stages.
80' POST! Poulsen flicks a cross towards the far corner from the left side of the six-yard box, but it clips off a defender, comes back off the inside of the post and stays out!
M. Tekdemir
Yellow Card
78' Tekdemir takes issue with the referee and gets right in his face, earning himself a yellow card for dissent.
76' Ba has a great chance to play the ball in behind after some strong Basaksehir build-up, but the final ball is short and Leipzig clear! What a waste of a promising position.
74' There's some confusion as the referee blows his whistle, but the referee explains that it's for a handball.
İ. Kahveci
Goal
72' GOAL!! KAHVECI HITS ANOTHER!! It's a stunner from the midfielder! Kahveci receives the ball on the right and cuts in onto his favoured left foot. Nobody closes him down and he takes the shot on from outside the box that curls sumptuously past Gulacsi and into the bottom-left corner! It's 3-2 now!
D. Ba
Assist
72' Once again, Ba claims the assist after feeding Kahveci out wide, but the strike from distance was pure, individual brilliance.
69' Angelino has now had a direct hand in more goals than any other Leipzig player in the Champions League this season with four  – two goals and two assists.
Daniel Olmo
Yellow Card
67' Olmo, having just scored, now goes into the book for a clumsy challenge on Rafael.
Angeliño
Assist
66' Angelino claims the assist for feeding Olmo in an advanced area, but the attacking midfielder had plenty to do before finding the net.
Daniel Olmo
Goal
66' GOAL!! OLMO MAKES IT 3-1 TO LEIPZIG!! Olmo is fed by Angelino down the left and shifts the ball quickly and cleverly to jink past his marker in the box before slotting a low strike in at the near post!
A. Sørloth
E. Forsberg
65' Nagelsmann also makes a surprising change, replacing the lively Forsberg with Sorloth, introducing an extra striker.
Giuliano
E. Višća
64' That was Visca's final contribution as he's replaced by Giuliano. That's a bold decision by Buruk to replace the winger.
63' Visca rounds Gulacsi inside the box and slots the ball home, but the linesman's flag is up and the goal is ruled out for offside. That was a pretty clear decision.
61' MISS! WHAT A MISS! Leipzig work the ball down the right well and Mukiele fizzes in a lovely low cross that Forsberg meets, unmarked, at the near post just a couple of yards out, but somehow he fires it wide of the target! How did he not score?!
59' Leipzig haven't been as sharp as they were in the first half. They're just starting to find their rhythm now, but they've been a little sluggish to this point.
D. Türüç
Yellow Card
57' Turuc is the latest player to receive a soft yellow card. He steps on Forsberg's foot as he goes for the ball, but it's not a nasty challenge. He certainly looks aggrieved at going into the book.
55' MISS! Chadli races down the left and fires a low ball across the face of goal for Visca, who meets it at the back post. The angle is tight, but the goal is gaping and the winger somehow steers over the bar!
D. Upamecano
Yellow Card
53' Upamecano protests as he's shown a yellow card that will keep him out of the game against Manchester United. It looked like the defender won the ball and, even if he didn't, the foul didn't look worthy of a booking.
50' WIDE! Leipzig switch off from a corner again and it's taken short before being whipped into the middle by Turuc for Epureanu, but the substitute nods wide of the target!
48' Leipzig pick back up where they left off in the first half, dominating the ball early on and looking for openings.
46' We're back underway for the second half!
T. Adams
K. Kampl
46' Nagelsmann also makes a half-time alteration, swapping Kampl for Adams in midfield.
A. Epureanu
M. Škrtel
46' Basaksehir's second change sees Skrtel depart - presumably due to injury - with Epureanu taking his place.
M. Tekdemir
B. Özcan
46' Basaksehir boss Buruk makes two half-time changes as he tries to get his side back on level terms. The first sees Ozcan replaced by Tekdemir in midfield.
Leipzig were utterly dominant and will be disappointed to not be further ahead at the break, having conceded at the end of that half. However, Nagelsmann will be sure that, if his side continue to play as they did for much of the half, they will come away with all three points. The Bundesliga side perhaps need tp be more clinical in the second period, however.
There goes the half-time whistle! It's been an entertaining half as Leipzig dominated proceedings, opening the scoring as Sabitzer's strike from distance deflected in off a combination of Poulsen and Skrtel before Forsberg set Mukiele up for the visitors' second. However, Basaksehir pulled one back right at the end of the half against the run of play as Kahveci fired in following a well-executed corner routine.
45' + 4' HALF-TIME: ISTANBUL BASAKSEHIR 1-2 RB LEIPZIG
İ. Kahveci
Goal
45' + 3' GOAL!!! BASAKSEHIR HAVE ONE BACK!! Well, that goal has come out of nowhere! A clever short corner is taken to Kahveci on the edge of the box and he curls a first-time strike inside the near post! It's 2-1 now!
E. Višća
Assist
45' + 3' The corner routine was executed to perfection as Visca drilled a low ball out to Kahveci, who met it on the edge of the box and came up with a fine finish!
45' Leipzig are cruising. They looked to be losing a little of their momentum as the half drew to a close, but they've still managed to find a second goal and it looks a long way back for Basaksehir now.
E. Forsberg
Assist
43' Forsberg has been terrific in this half and he crafted that attack superbly, increasing the tempo with sharp, quick passes and incisive movement before finding Mukiele.
N. Mukiele
Goal
43' GOAL!! MUKIELE DOUBLES LEIPZIG'S LEAD!! Forsberg plays some clever one-twos on the edge of the box before crossing from the left and it finds its way through to Mukiele, arriving in the box unmarked. The defender lashes a low, strike with his weaker left foot and it nestles in the bottom-left corner of the net! It's 2-0 to Leipzig now!
40' Forsberg, who had previously spent more time out on the right flank, is now spending more of his time centrally, forcing Haidara to play a deeper, wide role on the right and making a more conventional 4-2-3-1 shape.
M. Škrtel
Yellow Card
38' Skrtel picks up the first yellow card of the game for a high boot on Poulsen. That rules the defender out of the next game.
37' SAVE! What a save by Gulacsi! Ba produces a neat flick to set himself in the box and thumps a ferocious half-volley across goal, but Gulacsi gets a strong hand to it to turn it aside!
N. Chadli
B. Bolingoli-Mbombo
36' That substitution is now made, with Bolingoli-Mbombo staying off the field and Chadli coming on in his place. He goes out to the left wing, with Turuc dropping to left-back.
34' Now Bolingoli-Mbombo has gone down off the ball, holding his knee. Skrtel seems to be okay to continue, but the left-back may be forced off the field.
32' Skrtel has stayed down as he and Bolingoli-Mbombo collided as they dived to block that shot from Mukiele. He looks to be in a lot of pain.
30' BLOCK! Angelino has had plenty of joy down the left and he cuts back from the byline to Mukiele, arriving on the penalty spot. The right-back smacks a low shot at goal, but it's blocked away!
28' Ba is furious following a heavy challenge from Upamecano, but replays show that he definitely got the ball. Great tackle from the Frenchman.
Y. Poulsen
Goal
26' GOAL!! LEIPZIG TAKE THE LEAD!! Sabitzer advances unopposed to the edge of the area and hits a vicious, low effort that deflects off a combination of Poulsen and Skrtel and wrong-foots Gunock before rolling in! It's 1-0 to Leipzig!
24' There were several penalty shouts for handball following that earlier series of blocks, but no instruction has been given from off the field and the game continues.
22' BLOCK! The ball is delivered into the box from the left and it finds its way to Haidara, who smacks a shot at goal but sees it blocked. It comes back out to Sabitzer, who tries his luck from the edge, but that's blocked as well!
19' SIDE-NETTING! Forsberg is released into space down the right and he races clear in behind, but he's pushed to the byline and his eventual shot from a tight angle ruffles the side-netting!
17' Basaksehir, having weathered a storm of Leipzig pressure in the opening stages, are just starting to find their feet in this game now and push forward a little.
15' Kaheveci takes Basaksehir's first shot of the game as he gets into the box on the left, but he leans back and blazes it over the bar. What a waste.
12' SAVE! Another great chance for Leipzig! Forsberg whips a free-kick in from the right with real pace and Poulsen gets across his marker at the front post to meet it before volleying at goal, but Gunok stands tall and keeps it out!
10' The Leipzig formation appears to be - nominally at least - a 4-2-3-1, but there's plenty of movement from those positions. Forsberg drifts out freely to the right and Haidara either pushes wide or tucks in to cover him. On other occasions, however, he stays central with Forsberg to allow Mukiele space to bomb forward. It's fascinating to watch.
8' Leipzig are completely dominant at the moment. They have every single outfield player in the Basaksehir half and are working it around in search of an opening.
6' There's plenty of fluidity in Leipzig's play going forward as players freely interchange positions. They look very dangerous.
4' SAVE! Mukiele rises highest to glance a header at goal from a corner and there's plenty of pace on the ball, but Gunok reacts superbly to tip it over the bar!
3' MISS! What a chance for Leipzig! Mukiele is played into acres of space on the right and he advances to the edge of the area before slipping a clever ball square to Forsberg, who had found some space in the box, but the midfielder somehow fires wide! He had to score there!
1' We're underway in Istanbul!
However, Basaksehir have won four of their last six home games in European competition (L2) – including qualifiers, this is twice as many wins as they managed in their first 11 home games (D5 L4).
Basaksehir come into this game having only won one of their five previous meetings with German opposition in major European competition (D2 L2). In fact, German clubs have only lost one of their last 14 away games against Turkish opponents in all European competitions (W6 D7).
Meanwhile, Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann makes five changes after fielding a rotated team in their 2-1 Bunesliga win over Arminia Bielefeld. Orban, Halstenberg, Adams, Samardzi and Sorloth are all named on the bench, with Konate, Haidara, Sabitzer, Forsberg and Poulsen coming into the side from the start.
Basaksehir boss Okan Buruk makes three changes after his side were held to a 3-3 draw by Denizlispor in the Turkish Super Lig last time out. Babacan, Chadli and Tekdemir all drop to the bench, with Gunok, Bolingoli-Mbombo and Ozcan starting in their places.
RB Leipzig substitutes: Philipp Tschauner, Josep Martínez, Justin Kluivert, Marcel Halstenberg, Dennis Borkowski, Alexander Sorloth, Joscha Wosz, Willi Orban, Eric Martel, Tyler Adams, Lazar Samardzi.
RB Leipzig XI (4-2-3-1): Peter Gulacsi; Nordi Mukiele, Ibrahima Konate, Dayot Upamecano, Angelino; Marcel Sabitzer, Kevin Kampl; Amadou Haidara, Emil Forsberg, Dani Olmo; Yusuf Poulsen.
