Commentary

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
Inter will face Sampdoria in two weeks time after the international break, meanwhile Verona will hope to pick up their first points of the season against Bologna.
Inter come from behind to beat Verona 3-1 and make it back-to-back wins in Serie A, which sends them top of the table. They trailed at the break, after Ilic fired Verona into the lead on 15 minutes, but Martinez made it 1-1 with a header just after the restart and Inter then pushed forward in search of a winner. They finally got their second goal on 83 minutes, when Correa marked his debut with a goal to make it 2-1, before the striker grabbed another in stoppage time to make sure of the three points.
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: VERONA 1-3 INTER
N. Barella
Assist
90' + 4' Inter opened up the Verona defence, playing a few quick passes, before Barella found Correa on the edge of the box and he did the rest with a fine finish.
J. Correa
Goal
90' + 4' GOAL! Correa grabs another late on and makes it 3-1! Inter have surely wrapped up the three points now! The Verona defence kept backing off and the striker found the space on the edge of the box and then drilled the ball into the bottom right corner of the net, his second of the game.
90' + 2' Verona are trying to push a few players forward now in search of an equaliser as we enter the final couple of minutes, but Inter look comfortable at the back and it looks like they'll be able to see the game out.
90' There will be a minimum of four minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
A. Tameze
Yellow Card
88' Tameze is booked late on for a foul on Barella.
S. Sensi
E. Džeko
87' Dzeko also heads off the pitch and he is replaced by Sensi.
M. Vecino
H. Çalhanoğlu
87' Inter make a few more changes, with Calhanoglu one of those coming off and he has been replaced by Vecino.
85' Inter have been knocking on the door for a while and they've finally got their second goal. Can they hold on to gain all three points?
M. Darmian
Assist
83' It looked like Darmian would be unable to keep the ball in, but he just got there in the nick of time down the right wing and then picked out Correa perfectly in the box.
J. Correa
Goal
83' GOAL! Correa fires Inter ahead, it’s 2-1! Darmian does brilliantly down the right wing to keep the ball in play and then deliver a superb cross into the box, which is met by the head of Correa and he fires it into the top right corner of the net. Montipo just couldn't get close enough to it.
82' Inter have won 19 of their 25 matches in Serie A in 2021 (D4 L2), with only Manchester City winning more matches during this period across the top five European leagues (21/26).
80' Not too far away! Dimarco whips a corner into the box from the left and Dzeko rises highest to meet it, but he can't keep his header down and the ball flies over the bar.
79' The home side have everyone back the ball defending and it looks like they are just trying to hold out for a point, with just over 10 minutes remaining.
77' Dzeko and Martinez linked up really well for the Inter goal and the following opportunity, so now the striker will have to create a new link up front in order to try and fire Inter ahead.
P. Dawidowicz
G. Magnani
75' Magnani also makes way and Dawidowicz is on in his place.
B. Šutalo
D. Faraoni
75' The skipper is off, as Faraoni is replaced by Sutalo.
J. Correa
Lautaro Martínez
74' Martinez has played well on his return to the Inter side, but he is replaced here by Correa for his debut.
A. Tameze
M. Hongla Yma
74' Triple Verona substitution now, with Hongla one of those departing the field and he has been replaced by Tameze.
73' There is still plenty of time left on the clock for either team to score a winning goal, but it is the visitors who look the most likely right now.
71' It's all Inter at the moment, they are keeping the ball well and they have increased the tempo, with Verona having to sit deep and soak up the pressure.
69' Verona haven’t won any of their last nine home matches in Serie A (D4 L5), it is their longest such streak at home in the competition since January 2016.
67' SAVE! Montipo is called into action to deny Bastoni, after he found some space in the box and drilled a low strike towards the bottom right corner of the net. However, the keeper read it well and tipped the effort around the post.
A. Vidal
M. Brozović
66' Brozovic is also heading off the pitch and Vidal is his replacement.
F. Dimarco
I. Perišić
66' Double change by Inter, with Perisic the first to come off and he has been replaced by Dimarco.
M. Brozović
Yellow Card
64' There are a few challenges flying in at the moment and Brozovic is the latest player to be booked. The midfielder is unable to latch onto the end of a throw out from Handanovic and catches Casale late near the halfway line.
K. Lasagna
M. Cancellieri
62' Here comes the second Verona change of the game, with Cancellieri replaced by Lasagna.
61' VAR take a look at the penalty incident between Martinez and Hongla, but they agree with the decision on the pitch by the referee and nothing is awarded.
60' Martinez is receiving some medical treatment following the collision with Hongla, but it only appears to be a slight knock and he should be fine to continue.
59' PENALTY SHOUT! Inter counter forward quickly and Martinez takes on Hongla in the box, trying to go round the Verona man, but he steps across and makes the challenge. Martinez goes down and appears to be in some discomfort, but nothing is given by the referee.
Lautaro Martínez
Yellow Card
57' Martinez is booked after he slides in and catches Ilic late on the halfway line, getting nowhere near the ball.
55' CHANCE! How did he miss? Martinez with a great opportunity to fire Inter into the lead! Once again the striker is lurking around the six-yard box and he latches onto a pass from Dzeko, drilling a low effort towards the bottom left corner of the net. However, he somehow fires it wide of the post from close range. Montipo had no chance of stopping that.
N. Casale
F. Ceccherini
53' Verona make their first substitution of the game, with Ceccherini the man coming off and he has been replaced by Casale.
51' Not too far away! Gunter meets a deep cross at the far post and heads it back across goal for Faraoni to try and turn towards goal, but he doesn't get enough on the header and it flies over the crossbar.
49' It's been a really poor start to the second half for Verona, they will be gutted to concede so soon after the restart, especially when they looked so good in the first period.
Lautaro Martínez
Goal
47' GOAL! Inter equalise just after the break, it’s 1-0! Martinez heads them level from just a few yards out. Perisic delivers a long throw-in into the penalty area, which is flicked on at the near post by Dzeko and then Martinez pounces from close range to head the ball into the back of the net. Great reactions by the striker.
46' The second half is under way!
Inter may need to make a couple of changes in the second half if they are to get back into the game, as Verona look solid and had a couple more chances themselves to extend their lead.
Verona lead 1-0 at the break, after a big mistake at the back by Handanovic and Ilic capitalised to fire the home side into the lead. The keeper played a poor ball out and Ilic nicked it off the toes of Brozovic, before coolly finishing. Prior to the goal Inter had been on top and almost took the lead through Martinez, but since going behind they have looked short of ideas in attack and Verona look comfortable.
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: VERONA 1-0 INTER
45' There will be a minimum of one minute added time played at the end of the first half.
44' Perisic with a cross in from the left wing, which is met by Martinez, but his header is well blocked and the hosts clear the danger. It looks like they'll hold on until the break.
42' CHANCE! Another good move forward by Verona and they work it into the Inter penalty area, with Cancellieri receiving it in a good position just inside the box. However, the winger can't keep his effort down and it flies just over the crossbar.
41' There isn’t long left to play before the end of the first half, can Inter get an equaliser before the half-time whistle?
39' GOAL RULED OUT! Dzeko chips a deep cross into the penalty area, which is met at the far post by Calhanoglu and Montipo jumps to gather, but he is put under heavy pressure from Martinez, causing him to fumble and the ball then trickles over the line and into the back of the net. However, the referee immediately blows for a free-kick.
37' Verona lost on MD1: since 2000, they have never lost both their first two games in a single top-flight season (the last time was in 1996/97 under Luigi Cagni).
35' Inter are having to drop into a five-man defence at times, as Verona are pushing really high up the pitch and forcing them back. So the wing-backs can't get forward and create anything in attack. The home side will be very pleased with their performance so far.
33' Perisic has hardly been involved down the left wing for Inter so far today, the winger hasn't seen much of the ball or created anything for a team-mate.
31' Almost! Cancellieri breaks forward following an Inter corner and sprints almost the full length of the field, but he doesn't have any support from team-mates and the Inter defence manage to crowd him out and clear the danger.
30' We’re at the half an hour mark now and it remains Verona who lead 1-0 over Inter, thanks to an early strike from Ilic.
G. Magnani
Yellow Card
28' The first yellow card of the game is shown to Magnani, after he dives into the back of Dzeko and sends the striker flying. Poor challenge.
27' Martinez and Dzeko have gone quiet for Inter, they haven't been involved much since Verona opened the scoring and the visitors are struggling to get going at the moment.
25' Each of Verona's four wins against Inter in Serie A have come on home soil, with their last victory against them coming back in February 1992; since then Inter have won seven games and there has been three draws.
23' CHANCE! Inter break quickly on the counter following a Verona corner and Calhanoglu races forward down the left wing, opening up the hosts' defence. He then picks out Barella in the box, but the midfielder's header flies just over the crossbar.
21' Verona have been much better since going a goal ahead, they look full of confidence and are seeing more of the ball. Lazovic wins their first corner of the game, but it is well cleared by the Inter defence.
19' That goal has certainly given the home fans something to shout about, the atmosphere is electric inside the stadium now. Can Inter respond quickly?
17' Handanovic was under no pressure for the goal, they were just trying to play it out from the back and the keeper made a sloppy pass into his team-mate, which has been punished.
I. Ilić
Goal
15' GOAL! Verona take the lead against the run of play, it’s 1-0! Handanovic plays a really poor pass out from the back looking for Brozovic and Ilic was lurking nearby and he pinches it off the midfielder, before racing into the box and only having the keeper to beat. He kept his composure and chipped it over Handanovic and into the back of the net.
14' It only seems like a matter of time before Inter open the scoring at the moment, they are well on top and have started to look more dangerous in the final third.
12' SAVE! Martinez with a great chance to fire Inter ahead! The striker latches onto a loose ball in the penalty area, turns and fires a powerful effort towards the bottom left corner of the net. However, Montipo manages to get a hand to it and flicks it onto the post, before it goes out of play for a corner.
11' Verona haven’t won any of their last 20 Serie A matches against Inter (D4 L16), their longest run without a victory against a specific opponent in the top-flight - the last side against whom Inter had a longer unbeaten run was Cesena (22 matches in 2015).
9' Dzeko is dropping deep to try and get on the ball, to link up play, while Martinez is doing a lot of the running up front for Inter. The Verona players just can't get close enough to them.
7' It looks like Verona are going to try and break forward quickly on the counter when they can, playing long balls over the top to try and catch the Inter defence out. Cancellieri just tried to get on the end of one, but Handanovic read it well and gathered.
5' The hosts have hardly touched the ball so far in the opening few minutes of the game, they have everyone back behind the ball soaking it up at the moment.
3' Inter with the early possession here, they are keeping the ball well in the Verona half of the pitch and win their first corner of the game after a cross from the right is blocked by Ceccherini. However, the hosts clear the danger.
1' We're under way!
The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!
Simone Inzaghi makes just one change to his Inter side and that comes in attack, with Martinez returning to the side and he replaces Sensi alongside Dzeko.
The hosts have made five changes to their starting line-up, with Veloso is missing due to suspension, so he has been replaced in midfield by Ilic. Meanwhile Pandur, Dawidowicz, Casale and Kalinic all drop to the bench and they have been replaced by Montipo, Magnani, Faraoni and Cancellieri.
