England Japan Women's World Cup
Phil Neville's side topped their Women's World Cup group with maximum points, but their last 16 clash in Valenciennes looks unlikely to be a goal-fest

England's quest for a maiden Women's World Cup title continues on Sunday in Valenciennes. The Lionesses took maximum points from Group D and face Cameroon in the last 16.

Having beaten New Zealand on matchday three the team ranked 46th in the world progressed as one of the best third place finishers.

Latest Odds

This will be the first meeting between the teams and bet365 make Alain Djeumfa's side 16/1 (17.0) underdogs to secure a second win of the tournament.

England are red-hot favourites at 1/8 (1.12) with a draw between the teams priced at 15/2 (8.50) with the online bookmaker.

Team News

Phil Neville rotated his side against Japan, making seven changes including Ellen White who scored both goals in Le Havre and took her tally to three for the competition.

Ajara Nchout found the net twice against New Zealand including the crucial 95th minute strike that secured their qualification.

While England have made smooth progress up to this stage, the Lionesses have done so courtesy of low-scoring victories rather than blowing teams away. That detracts from the appeal of backing a wide-margin win such as Neville’s side beating the -2 handicap at 21/20 (2.05).

Cameroon have largely been able to restrict their opposition, especially in the early stages of matches. Canada made their breakthrough on the stroke of half-time while Netherlands were held until the 41st minute.

No goal before 23:00 is a 5/6 (1.83) shot with bet365 and could be of interest although England have scored in two of their three group games before that marker.

Nevertheless, Cameroon's solid early defence as well as England's controlled displays could point to a worthwhile selection in Valenciennes.

In a match with such a big favourite it can be tough to find a bet which appeals and offers significant enough returns to consider as a single selection.

For this game though, England to win and under 3.5 goals appears to fit the bill nicely at 21/20 (2.05) with bet365.

This pick would have paid out in each of the Lionesses three matches at the tournament so far. While Cameroon look likely to be outclassed in the end, they can do enough to avoid a heavy defeat.
