That will do it for our live coverage of Eintracht Frankfurt v Bayern Munich! We hope you enjoyed it and will join us again soon!
Frankfurt had a few decent moves but never seemed a legitimate threat during this match. Haller seemed isolated from the rest of play and the passing, as it did last season, really let them down. It seems like there's a good team in there somewhere, but it certainly was not on display today.
Kovac will surely be pleased to have beaten his former employers, picking up his first piece of silverware at Munich in the process. It was a truly dominant performance from start to end and you'd imagine they will win the Bundesliga at a canter once again.
FULL TIME: Eintracht Frankfurt 0 - 5 Bayern Munich
89' Wagners miss was just the second shot on target that Munich did not put in the back of the net!
88' WAGNER MISSES! Kimmich had beaten past his man in the box, cut the ball back to Wagner who alsmost impossibly shot wide. It should have been six there.
K. Coman
Assist
Bayern München
85' Coman launched down the right wing before cutting inside, putting his defender on the floor, and sliding a pass over to Thiago who finished the chance!
Thiago Alcântara
Goal
Bayern München
85' GOALLLL!!!! THIAGO!!! He held his run at the top of the box, collected a pass from Coman, and coolly slotted it home for Munich's fifth goal. Frankfurt 0-5 Munich
85' Curse of the commentator is real...
84' Munich have left their foot off the gas a little bit here as Frankfurt are passing the ball around the penalty area, and have had the ball in their opponents half for about two minutes now.
81' Barring a significant comeback, Frankfurt will lose their second DFL-Supercup with the previous coming at the hands of Werder Bremen in 1988.
78' Coman just sprinted past Frankfurt's midfield and defence but had no teammates to help him so had to cut back and wait. Was a blistering show of pace there though!
L. Jović
S. Haller
Eintracht Frankfurt
76' Haller failed to get more involved and now gets the hook in favour of Luka Jovic.
75' Rebic accelerates through the middle of the pitch before passing ahead to Blum who SHOOTS! Neuer is there to cover though. That was Frankfurt's first shot in quite some time...
S. Wagner
R. Lewandowski
Bayern München
72' Hat-trick hero Lewandowski comes off in a like-for-like swap for Sandro Wagner.
D. Abraham
Yellow Card
Eintracht Frankfurt
70' Abraham picks up a yellow card for elbowing Lewandowski in the face. If there had been a more clear intent, he could have well been shown red!
69' Munich waste a three on two as Ribery plays it wide to Coman who couldn't decide between passing and shooting and did something inbetween that rolls behind for a goal kick.
67' Munich ask questions of their opponents defence by playing a long ball forward to Thiago... but it's just too deep and Ronnow catches it.
D. Blum
M. Fabián
Eintracht Frankfurt
64' Danny Blum comes on for Marco Fabian.
L. Goretzka
T. Müller
Bayern München
64' Muller comes off for Leon Goretzka who makes his first competitive appearance for Bayern Munich.
A. Rebić
J. de Guzmán
Eintracht Frankfurt
64' As mentioned, here comes Ante Rebićon for midfielder Jonathan de Guzman.
K. Coman
Goal
Bayern München
63' GOALLL!!! IT'S COMAN!!! He ran to the back post and Alaba's cross makes it all the way over to him to just tap into the back of Runnow's net. Frankfurt 0-4 Munich
D. Alaba
Assist
Bayern München
63' Assist David Olatukunbo Alaba
62' It looks as though World Cup star Ante Rebic will be entering the fray soon!
60' Frankfurt finally find themselves deep in their opponents half. Thiago cuts out a pass that goes behind for a corner.
K. Coman
A. Robben
Bayern München
58' Like for like swap here as Robben, who was a massive threat down the right, comes off for Kingsley Coman.
56' Hasebe clips the heel of Lewandowski but nothing too serious in it. The referee agrees and takes no furhter action.
T. Müller
Assist
Bayern München
54' Müller slid the ball over to Lewandowski after Robben had nicked the ball off of Gacinovic. The Polish striker finished then finished the chance!
R. Lewandowski
Goal
Bayern München
54' GOOOALLLL!!! IT'S A HAT TRICK FOR LEWANDOWSKI!!! He takes a bit of a mistouch that allows him to beat the last defender, and he cooly slots it home under Ronnow! Frankfurt 0-3 Munich
51' Robben pulls off the tricks on his right hand side, but tries one too many and the Frankfurt defender clears it.
48' Robben hits a fantastic effort towards Ronnow, who does very well to parry the powerful shot away. It will be a corner kick to Munich, their third.
46' Gacinovic skins Kimmich on the left before cutting inside, but his touch is too heavy and runs away from him.
46' We're back under way!
Will Frankfurt find their way back into this match or will ex-manager Kovac lift his first trophy as Munich's manager? We'll soon find out!
Frankfurt need to hold onto the ball, and then pass it better if they want to get back into this match. They currently have 66.1% pass completion which is bad, but unsurprising as they finished bottom five in that statistic in the Bundelsiga last season as well. Haller still represents their best option to put the ball past Neuer but will need to be more involved in the second half to do so.
Bayern Munich will be pleased having dominated this match in both possession (75%) and the scoreline (2-0). Despite rumours about Lewandwoski wanting out of the club, he has been as lethal as possible today with his two goals coming from two total shots. The defence has looked a little shaky at times, but have not yet broken.
HALF TIME: Eintracht Frankfurt 0-2 Bayern Munich
45' + 2' De Guzman takes it... but puts it straight into the wall. That will be the last action of the first half!
M. Hummels
Yellow Card
Bayern München
45' + 1' Hummels catches Gacinovic with a late challenge and the former is awarded a yellow for his efforts. Frankfurt will have a dangerous free kick here!
44' Da Costa bends in a fantastic driven cross towards Haller, but Neuer, true to form, is off his line early to smother the ball.
43' Jetro Willems is down and hurt after a late swing of the leg from Dutch national teammate Robben. It looks like the former will recover though.
41' Frankfurt could really use some creativity right now, but last years assist leader, Wolf, is no longer at the club. In fact, the player with the second most assists last season was also their leading scorer... Haller.
38' All Bayern at the moment. Kimmich passes to Lewandowski in the box and he shoots, trying for his hat-trick, but it's deflected behind for a corner.
36' Alaba surges forward before whipping a low ball in to Robben in the box, but he can't get a good shot off and the ball bounces out to the halfway line.
34' A long cross-field ball is played forward to Arjen Robben who tries to head the ball accross to Lewandowski, but it finds a Frankfurt defender first.
31' Now it's Fabian down in the other oenalty area, but Marco Fritz says play on again. Not giving much today is he?
28' Lewandowski tumbles to the floor in the box under pressure by Fabian! There is contact, but the referee deems it neither a dive nor a penalty!
A. Robben
Assist
Bayern München
26' Robben sent in a fantastic cross from the corner and Lewandowski headed home... again!
R. Lewandowski
Goal
Bayern München
26' GOOOAALLL!!! THERE GOES THAT MAN AGAIN, LEWANDOWSKI! He found himself in space on the corner kick and headed it right past Ronnow for his second of the match.
25' After a long period of play in the Frankfurt box, Munich finally get a shot off but it deflects off Hasebe and goes behind for a corner.
23' Obviously unsurprising that Lewandowski has put his name on the score sheet, as he led the Bundesliga in both goals (29) and shots on target (56) last season.
J. Kimmich
Assist
Bayern München
21' Kimmich kept drifting forward before sending in an early high cross forward towards Lewandowski, who finished the job!
R. Lewandowski
Goal
Bayern München
21' GOOALLLLL!!!! IT'S LEWANDOWSKI! It was his first meaningful touch of the match and he lept above two defenders to nod the ball back across the keeper and into the net!
20' A loose ball in the midfield is collected by Willems who launches forward at pace. He tries to cut inside to no avail and the move dissolves into nothing.
18' Haller goes in very late and heavy on Martinez. The foul is given but the referee takes no further action.
15' Two consecutive corners come to nothing for the "home" side. Frankfurt are starting to grow into the match now though!
13' Da Costa flies down the right flank uncontested before whipping in a cross that's deflected behind for a Frankfurt corner.
11' Haller made a fantastic run down the middle and Willems tried to find him with a low curled ball, but it was cut out and played forward by Hummels.
9' Martinez tried to find Muller on the right, but the pass was a little overcooked and the sliding German can only get a toe to it.
7' A long ball is played forward to Ribery on the left, but Abraham is able to get there first to cut it out.
6' Now it's Frankfurt's turn to build an attack, but Fabian gets hacked down. Early free kick for them.
4' Lewandowski does a lovely dummy and lets the ball roll to a charging Ribery who sends in an early cross towards Robben, but it's too high for the Dutchman.
2' Gacinovic is down early after a hand to the face from Thiago. It looked accidental at first glance.
1' The referee's whistle sounds and we're underway at the Commerzbank-Arena!
The teams, and trophy, are out on the pitch! Not long to go now!
Obviously, it will be very interesting to see Niko Kovac on the touchline for Bayern Munich as the last time he managed a side it was for Frankfurt, against Munich, in the aforementioned DFB-Pokal final!
All in all, we should be in for an exciting match today as these two sides have combined for an average 3.4 goals per match over their last five meetings!
Munich, on the other hand, aren't really missing anyone as they roll out what appears to be their best available XI!
Frankfurt have given Ante Rebic a spot on the bench today as he reintegrates back into the side after Croatia's World Cup final appearance. He did lead the club in shots on target last season, so most of the scoring responsibilty today will likely fall at the feet of Haller.
Munich (4-1-4-1): Manuel Neuer; Joshua Kimmich, Niklas Sule, Mats Hummels, David Alaba; Javi Martinez; Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller, Thiago Alcantara, Franck Ribery; Robert Lewandowski.
Frankfurt (3-4-3): Frederik Ronnow; David Abraham, Makoto Hasebe, Carlos Salcedo; Danny da Costa, Lucas Torro, Jonathan de Guzman, Jetro Willems; Mijat Gacinovic, Marco Fabian; Sebastian Haller.
Let's start things off now by looking at these sides' starting line ups!
Munich have had the better of today's opponents of late, only losing to Frankfurt once in their last five matches! It is worth noting, however, that that one loss was the cup final that led to the latter playing in this match!
Hello, and welcome to our live coverage of the DFL-Supercup clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich!
