Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.

Chelsea secure their place in the Champions League with a 2-0 win over Wolves this afternoon. Goals in first-half stoppage time from Mason Mount and Olivier Giroud guided the Blues to the three points. They finish fourth in the Premier League table as a result of Manchester United's win over Leicester City. Wolves were not at their best today and finish in seventh place, although they will now turn their attention to the Europa League to have another shot at securing European football next term.

Frank Lampard's men were clinical when they needed to be at the end of the half. Wolves will feel slightly aggrieved as the foul on Marcos Alonso by Pedro Neto was a harsh one to award. However, the visitors then switched off again to hand Chelsea control. It's going to take a spirited comeback from Wolves to get back into the contest in the second period.
Chelsea take a 2-0 lead into the break in their Premier League clash against Wolves at Stamford Bridge. It took time for the game to come to life, but Mount's free-kick provided a spark. He curled his effort beyond Patricio with pinpoint accuracy to break the deadlock. He then turned provider for Giroud, who rounded Patricio before scoring on the slide. The Blues are almost over the line in their bid to secure Champions League football, while Wolves' hopes of the Europa League are under threat.

16' Neto charges down the right flank and he looks to get the better of Rudiger. However, the German deflects it out for a corner.
14' Jimenez lines up a drive from distance, but Zouma puts his body on the line to produce a solid block.
13' UPDATE! Spurs have taken the lead against Crystal Palace through Harry Kane. As it stands, they leapfrog Wolves into sixth place.
12' WIDE! Mount lifts a cross into the box for James to attack. He glances his header towards goal, but it drifts harmlessly wide of the right post.
12' Pulisic tries to beat the challenge of Coady, but is brought down by Coady. Chelsea have a free-kick in a decent position.
11' Neto swings a free-kick in from the right flank, curling his delivery towards the left inside channel. Rudiger rises highest in the box and heads clear for the home side.
8' Mount probes down the right flank on this occasion, but the visitors get enough men back to stymie the attack from the Blues.
6' Coady has to be alert to break up a promising counter-attack by Chelsea. The Wolves skipper times his challenge to perfection to dispossess Mount.
5' Doherty finds space once more down the right flank, collecting an offload from Jimenez. He beats the challenge of Rudiger, but Zouma slides in to divert the ball behind for a corner.
4' Doherty finds space down the right flank and he fires a low cross towards the middle that Zouma has to clear into touch.
3' Jimenez attempts an ambitious pass over the top for Jota, but he can only smash the ball out for a goal kick.
1' We're under way at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are unbeaten in all five of their Premier League home games against Wolves (W4 D1), last losing against them in the top-flight at Stamford Bridge in March 1979 (1-2).
Nuno makes three changes to his side that beat Crystal Palace last time out. Saiss comes into the backline, while Dendoncker pushes forward. Moutinho drops to the bench as a result of the switch. Traore and Podence drop to the bench as Jota and Neto get the starts alongside Jimenez in the final third.
Lampard takes the decision to drop Kepa for the final game of the season. Caballero replaces the Spaniard between the sticks in one of two changes. The other sees Pulisic get the start from the off as he comes into the fold for Willian, who misses out due to injury.
WOLVES SUBS: Bruno Jordao, Daniel Podence, Morgan Gibbs-White, John Ruddy, Joao Moutinho, Ruben Vinagre, Adama Traore, Maximilian Kilman, Oskar Buur.
WOLVES (3-4-3): Rui Patricio; Willy Boly, Conor Coady, Romain Saiss; Matt Doherty, Leander Dendoncker, Ruben Neves, Jonny; Pedro Neto, Raul Jimenez, Diogo Jota.
CHELSEA SUBS: Kepa Arrizabalaga, Andreas Christensen, Ross Barkley, Tammy Abraham, Pedro, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Fikayo Tomori, Emerson.
CHELSEA (3-4-3): Willy Caballero; Cesar Azpilicueta, Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger; Reece James, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Marcos Alonso; Mason Mount, Olivier Giroud, Christian Pulisic.
Wolves are in position for a Europa League spot next season, although Tottenham are only point behind them. Nuno Espirito Santo's men have enjoyed another strong campaign, but need a fine performance to defeat the Blues to fend off their rivals. They're unbeaten in their last three matches, but they were beaten handily by Chelsea in their match earlier this season. The visitors will have to be at their best.
Chelsea can secure their place in the Champions League next season with a win or a draw this afternoon. The Blues could still even finish in the top four with a defeat, although it would put them at the mercy of Leicester City's result against Manchester United. Frank Lampard's men were beaten by Liverpool in midweek, conceding five goals in the process. Christian Pulisic dragged his team back into the contest, but it was not enough to save the Blues. Lampard will be looking for a response today.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Chelsea and Wolves at Stamford Bridge.
