Commentary

That's all from me for now. Until next time, thank you and goodbye!
It's finished at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea victorious in the penalty shoot-out, as the Blues call time on their pre-season campaign. It's Huddersfield Town next up for Sarri's side!
FULL-TIME! CHELSEA 0 LYON 0 (5-4 ON PENALTIES).
Penalty Goal
GOAL! No mistake from Hazard, who picks out the right-hand corner and wins it for Chelsea!
Penalty Miss
GREEN SAVES IT! Who needs Courtois!? A great moment for the veteran Green, who lunges to his left to keep out Diop's effort.
Penalty Goal
What a penalty from Azpilicueta! Lopes guessed the right way, but could not keep out the Spaniard's spot-kick, which had too much pace on it and nestled into the side-netting.
Penalty Goal
The goals keep on coming! Tete steps up and confidently drills home a low effort into the right-hand corner.
Penalty Goal
In off the post! Some good fortune for Alonso, whose low strike deflects in off the inside of the right-hand upright.
Penalty Goal
Nothing as fancy from Gouiri, who side-foots his effort straight down the centre - it's 3-2 Lyon.
Penalty Goal
PANENKA! Brilliant from Barkley, who endears himself to the Chelsea faithful with a cheeky chipped finish.
Penalty Goal
No mistake from Marcelo! The Lyon centre-back lofts a confident finish down the middle.
Penalty Goal
It's all level! After a long delay, Jorginho keeps his cool to slot home into the bottom-left corner, sending Lopes the wrong way.
Penalty Goal
Great composure from Ferri, who steps up to convert Lyon's first penalty. Green guessed the right way, but could not keep it out.
Chelsea have plenty of accomplished penalty takers on the pitch, and will be hopeful of securing a victory to see off their pre-season in style...
So, it has finished goalless at Stamford Bridge, and now we will head to penalties! Lyon shaded the first half, but Chelsea came on strong in the second - Loftus-Cheek hitting the woodwork before substitutes Kante and Barkley went close.
90' + 3' END OF 90 MINUTES: CHELSEA 0 LYON 0.
90' + 2' Marvellous play by the magical Hazard, who somehow weaves his way through Lyon’s defence before he is finally dispossessed, although the ball goes out for a corner. Alonso wins the header from the set-piece, but Lopes makes a comfortable stop.
90' + 1' There will be two minutes of added time at Stamford Bridge, before we head into penalties. It will be Chelsea’s third shoot-out in this competition this pre-season!
88' Lyon win a free-kick that Marcelo takes, but his strike soars a yard over the crossbar. Two minutes of normal time remain…
A. Gouiri
Bertrand Traoré
Olympique Lyonnais
86' Another change for Lyon. Bertrand Traore is off, with Amine Gouiri his replacement as we wind down towards full-time and, as it stands, a penalty shoot-out.
84' Giroud meets the cross, but can’t direct his header goal wards. Rudiger manages to collect the loose ball, but the Germany defender had strayed offside before doing so.
83' Good work from Barkley, who does well to latch onto a loose ball before driving clear of two Lyon defenders and drawing a foul. Hazard will look to drop the free-kick into the area…
82' The changes have naturally seen this game lose some rhythm, though it is also fair to say Chelsea have close to what could be considered a a first-choice starting XI on the pitch at the moment.
K. Tete
M. Depay
Olympique Lyonnais
79' Memphis Depay, meanwhile, has also gone off, with Kenny Tete - a full-back by trade - coming on for the final 10 minutes, plus penalties if it remains goalless.
J. Ferri
H. Aouar
Olympique Lyonnais
79' More changes, this time for Lyon. Houssem Aouar, who missed a great chance in the first half, has been replaced by Jordan Ferri.
76' CHANCE! The ball falls to Barkley in the box following a free-kick, but the midfielder’s close-range, goal-bound strike is blocked by a Lyon defender.
Marcos Alonso
Emerson
Chelsea
74' And, finally, Emerson has made way for Marcos Alonso.
A. Rüdiger
E. Ampadu
Chelsea
74' Antonio Rudiger is also on. He replaces the excellent Ethan Ampadu, who will certainly have impressed the Chelsea coaching team today!
R. Green
M. Bulka
Chelsea
74' Marcin Bulka did well standing in for Courtois, and he has now made way for veteran goalkeeper Rob Green.
Azpilicueta
D. Zappacosta
Chelsea
74' Cesar Azpilicueta is the next player on. The Spaniard will replace Davide Zappacosta at right-back.
G. Cahill
A. Christensen
Chelsea
74' The first change sees Andreas Christensen go off, with Gary Cahill coming on.
73' More substitutes coming up for Chelsea. This time, it’s the defenders and goalkeeper who will make way, with five players preparing to come on…
70' Brave defending from Ampadu! The youngster shows no fear in diving in to head clear, with Depay having lunged for the ball, and the Chelsea man picks up a knock for his troubles.
E. Hazard
Willian
Chelsea
68' And, last but certainly not least, it’s time for Eden Hazard, who comes on to a huge round of applause. The Belgian has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea, but Sarri will be desperate for him to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Lucas Piazón
V. Moses
Chelsea
68' Lucas Piazon is also on, as he looks to force his way into Sarri’s plans. Victor Moses is the player to make way.
O. Giroud
T. Abraham
Chelsea
68' Another World Cup winner is on for Chelsea. Olivier Giroud has replaced Tammy Abraham.
67' Risky play from Diop, but ultimately Barkley is unable to capitalise as he concedes a free-kick, and Chelsea will now make more changes.
P. Diop
T. Ndombèlé
Olympique Lyonnais
66' Tanguy NDombele has also made way - Pape Diop coming on.
Rafael
L. Dubois
Olympique Lyonnais
66' Rafael is also coming on for the visitors. The full-back has replaced Leo Dubois.
M. Terrier
M. Díaz
Olympique Lyonnais
65' A glut of changes coming up for Lyon, now. Mariano Diaz is the first player to make way, with Martin Terrier his replacement.
64' CHANCE FOR KANTE! That should have been the perfect return for the France star, as he races into the area to get on the end of a pinpoint Jorginho throughball, but Lopes spreads himself to make the save.
62' Already, Chelsea look more composed on the ball, with Kante sweeping up and Jorginho picking up the ball ahead of the defence - Barkley handed a free role behind the front three.
R. Barkley
R. Loftus-Cheek
Chelsea
59' And, finally, Ruben Loftus-Cheek makes way for Ross Barkley, who looks set to be a key player for Sarri this term.
Jorginho
T. Bakayoko
Chelsea
59' Next on is Jorginho, who takes the place of Tiemoue Bakayoko, who could well be on the move in the coming days after another abject display.
N. Kanté
D. Drinkwater
Chelsea
59' First up, it’s the moment Chelsea fans have been waiting for, as they welcome their World Cup-winning midfielder N’Golo Kante back to Stamford Bridge. He replaces Danny Drinkwater.
58' Three changes coming up for Chelsea, and it could well be that this will be Sarri's first-choice midfield heading into the season...
57' Traore again picks up the ball on the right side of Chelsea’s box, and once more elects to go for goal. And, just like last time, he drags his strike wide.
55' OFF THE POST! Excellent play from Loftus-Cheek! Finally, the youngster shows his quality with a wonderful first touch and turn that gets him into the Lyon area. He keeps his composure to lift the ball over Lopes, but the ball rattles away off the outside of the upright!
53' Traore looked a threat in the first half, but the winger rather embarrassed himself there! After a promising run in from the right flank, the 22-year-old lets rip with a low strike, but gets it horribly wrong, dragging his effort five yards wide.
50' A huge roar of appreciation from the Stamford Bridge crowd, now, as Kante takes to the touchline to warm up. Will we be seeing the France star come on at some point?
48' Mariano looks to race onto ball down the right-hand channel, but Bulka is out swiftly to smother the danger.
46' We are back up and running in the final 45 minutes of Chelsea's International Champions Cup campaign!
Sarri will be hoping for more drive and cutting edge from his side after the interval, though, and in particular from the likes of Loftus-Cheek and Bakayoko, who have not offered enough going forward.
And, with that chance, the referee calls time on an entertaining first half at Stamford Bridge. Lyon have had the better of the proceedings overall, although Chelsea have looked a threat at times, and could have snatched the lead through Willian just a few moments ago.
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 0 LYON 0.
45' SAVE! As expected, Willian curls a wonderful free-kick up and over the wall. It looked destined to open the scoring, but Lopes lunges to his left to parry it wide.
44' But there will be a chance for Chelsea now, as Abraham draws a foul right on the edge of Lyon’s area. Willian and Emerson stand over it…
43' Napoli thrived under Sarri due to the wingers - usually Jose Callejon and Lorenzo Insigne - drifting in from the flanks and looking to get on the end of crosses or intricate moves through midfield. However, so far, Willian and Moses are remaining far too wide, meaning Abraham is often isolated, with Chelsea’s midfield lacking the craft to create an opening.
41' It has been a decent half of football so far, but it is fair to say that Lyon have shaded it so far in terms of chances and positive play. Chelsea seem to be skipping out the midfield too often, relying on Willian and Moses to drive them forward, and Bakayoko and Loftus-Cheek must do more.
38' No penalty! Depay wants a spot-kick after his first-time strike hits Christensen on the arm, but once again there is nothing doing for the referee.
37' Loftus-Cheek’s impact has been somewhat limited, with Chelsea opting to attack mainly down the flanks, but the England man has not gambled in getting up in support of Abraham often enough.
36' Mariano is appealing for a penalty after going down under pressure from Ampadu, but the referee dismisses the claims.
35' CHANCE! That should be 1-0 to Lyon! Depay carves through Chelsea’s defence, with both Christensen and Ampadu dragged out of position. The former Manchester United winger slips a neat pass into Aouar, who takes it on first time, but only manages to send his low effort wide when it seemed far easier to hit the target!
33' Ampadu has been the star for Chelsea so far, although he won’t have impressed Sarri there with an audacious first-time strike from range, which soars into the crowd and wastes a promising position for the hosts.
32' Terrific play from Mariano, who charges forward on the counter before picking out Depay. The Dutchman’s cross is overhit, but Mariano takes it down, standing up his marker before lofting a delicate ball back to the edge of the area, where Tousart is waiting for it, and his volley skips just wide of the upright.
30' CLOSE! Willian threads a great reverse pass into the path of Emerson, who drills a low cross into the area. Abraham is there to meet it, but can only skew the ball wide.
28' Wonderful play from Ndombele as he spins away from his marker and sets Lyon forward. The youngster is starting to click into gear in the middle of the park for Lyon, dictating the play and setting the tempo for the visitors.
26' SAVE! That’s a good moment for Bulka, who does well to parry Depay’s curling, dipping strike away from danger.
24' A nervy moment for Lopes! Drinkwater tries his luck with a hopeful strike from 25 yards out, and although it should have been a simple save for Lyon’s goalkeeper, the Portuguese drops the ball, and is fortunate that no Chelsea attacker had gambled on making a run into the box.
22' Poor from Bakayoko, who lets Aouar glide past him, but Ampadu is again well-placed to cut out the pass. That interception starts a Chelsea counter, but Willian is unable to slip Abraham through.
19' Chelsea have not quite looked as free-flowing in recent minutes as they did in the opening stages, with Lyon seemingly more adept - as it stands - to playing in a 4-3-3 system than the hosts. However, a quickly-taken free-kick almost allows Zappacosta to bundle his way through to goal, but Lyon’s defence recover.
17' Great defending from Ampadu! Traore - a former Chelsea player - looked set to open the scoring with a curling strike, but Ampadu is on hand to make a crucial block!
16' Composed play from Willian who, under pressure from three Lyon defenders, manages to wriggle his way free and retain possession deep in Chelsea’s half. He eventually picks out Drinkwater, who in turn lays it off for Bulka to punt it clear.
14' Lyon are not giving Chelsea an easy ride so far, though, and Christensen has just been forced into some last-ditch defending to force Mendy’s cross out for a corner following some patient build-up play from the Ligue 1 side.
12' One player whose future looks secure is Ampadu. The Wales defender has looked extremely comfortable alongside Christensen so far, and is constantly looking to drive the ball out of defence and set Chelsea away on the attack.
10' It has been a fast start from both sides in west London. The hosts have looked sharp, despite a second-string line up. Some of these players have plenty to prove, though, if they are to ensure their immediate futures at the club.
7' Another opportunity, this time for Lyon! Depay picks up the ball wide on the left and cuts inside before unleashing a low drive at goal, which Courtois’ stand-in Bulka watches wide. End-to-end stuff at Stamford Bridge so far!
6' CHANCE! Wonderful play from Chelsea! Willian links up brilliantly with Loftus-Cheek, who barges forward at pace, playing another one-two with a team-mate to get into the area, but the England man can’t apply the finish, allowing Lopes to make the save.
5' It’s Lyon who almost open the scoring, though! Depay whips in a superb free-kick from the left, and Chelsea’s defence are caught cold as Mariano latches onto the cross, only to head over from close range.
3' Chelsea are settling into the game, with youngster Ampadu seeing plenty of the ball in the early stages. Willian is staying wide on the left, while Moses - who may have a fight on for his starting place this term given Sarri rarely uses wing-backs - pushed up on the opposite flank.
1' KICK-OFF! At a half-full Stamford Bridge, Lyon get us up and running!
A strong starting XI for Lyon, although coach Bruno Genesio is still without star man Nabil Fekir, who has only just returned to training following France’s World Cup triumph. The playmaker, who almost signed for Liverpool earlier in the window, has also been linked with a move to Chelsea in recent days.
TEAM NEWS - Lyon substitutes: Rafael; Christopher Martins Pereira; Mathieu Gorgelin, Jordan Ferri, Martin Terrier, Oumar Solet Bomawoko, Amine Gouiri, Pape Diop, Kenny Tete.
TEAM NEWS - Lyon (4-3-3): Anthony Lopes; Leo Dubois, Jeremy Morel, Marcelo, Ferland Mendy; Tanguy Ndombele, Lucas Tousart, Houssem Aouar; Bertrand Traore, Mariano Diaz, Memphis Depay.
While Courtois will surely be plying his trade elsewhere soon enough, Chelsea are able to welcome back star men Hazard, Kante and Giroud following their World Cup exploits. Willian, who was linked with a move to Barcelona earlier in the window, starts on the right.
Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic could well join Chelsea as part of the deal for Courtois, and that possible incoming would surely mean at least two midfielders will have to be sold or loaned out by Chelsea. Bakayoko and Drinkwater look the most likely candidates, while Loftus-Cheek has also attracted interest, and all three have been handed a chance to impress tonight.
TEAM NEWS - Chelsea substitutes: Antonio Rudiger, Charly Musonda, Ross Barkley, Eden Hazard, Lucas Piazon, Marcos Alonso, Bradley Collins, Cesar Azpilicueta, Alvaro Morata, David Luiz, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Jorginho, Cesc Fabregas, Rob Green, Gary Cahill, N’Golo Kante, Olivier Giroud, Michy Batshuayi, Pedro.
TEAM NEWS - Chelsea (4-3-3): Marcin Bulka; Davide Zappacosta, Andreas Christensen, Ethan Ampadu, Emerson; Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater; Victor Moses, Tammy Abraham, Willian.
Overall, it has been a rather indifferent pre-season in terms of results for Sarri's side, who were soundly beaten 2-0 by Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on Sunday, and they will be looking for a return to winning ways tonight, although Lyon will present a tough test.
The Chelsea goalkeeper has been AWOL from training over the past couple of days and is not in the squad today, as he reportedly looks to force through a move to Real Madrid. That has forced the Blues into action, with the London club reportedly agreeing a world record £71 million fee with Athletic Bilbao to sign Spain goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
It's a final chance for Chelsea’s players to impress new boss Maurizio Sarri ahead of the Premier League opener against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, but this game has been rather overshadowed by transfer speculation regarding Thibaut Courtois.
Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage of Chelsea's final International Champions Cup encounter, as the Blues welcome Ligue 1 side Lyon to Stamford Bridge!
