Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Both teams return to European action during the week as Manchester United host Juventus in the Champions League before playing Everton in their next Premier League outing. Chelsea play BATE Borisov at the Bridge in the Europa League before travelling to Turf Moor to face Burnley in their next top-flight clash.
WHAT AN ENDING! Ross Barkley continues to his revitalisation at Chelsea with a late goal to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign. The goal was almost an afterthought as a near melee between Jose Mourinho and a Chelsea staff member brought tensions to boiling point at Stamford Bridge. Anthony Martial's second-half brace looked to have handed Manchester United their second comeback win on the bounce as the Frenchman responded to Antonio Rudiger's opener for the Blues. However, Barkley was in the right place at the right time after David Luiz hit the post and Rudiger was denied from close range to salvage a point for the home side.
90' + 9' FULL-TIME: CHELSEA 2-2 MANCHESTER UNITED
90' + 8' DRAMA! It has all kicked off on the sideline between the two benches after Barkley's goal. Someone on the Chelsea bench said something to Mourinho in the midst of the celebrations. The Portuguese was straight out of his seat to confront said person and had to be restrained by stewards down the tunnel. The referee was on the spot to calm the tensions on the sideline after the incident, although Mourinho was incensed.
R. Barkley
Goal
90' + 6' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!! BARKLEY SAVES CHELSEA AT THE DEATH!!!! 2-2!!!! Chelsea get an equaliser in stoppage time as Barkley converts from close range after a goalmouth scramble. A cross from Pedro was headed towards the net by David Luiz and it bounced towards the target, only to strike the post. Rudiger on the rebound headed his effort straight at De Gea, but he could only divert his save into the six-yard area. Barkley was on the spot and hammered his effort into the bottom corner. What a huge moment in the context of the start to the campaign for both teams.
Andreas Pereira
Yellow Card
90' + 5' Pereira is guilty of time-wasting and goes into the book.
90' + 4' Hazard surges down the left and goes for a strike from a tight angle, only to blast his effort over the bar.
A. Sánchez
Yellow Card
90' + 4' Sanchez is booked for a cynical challenge on Jorginho.
90' + 2' Chelsea get behind United down the left as Pedro makes a burst. He fires the ball low towards the near post where Giroud fails to make clean contact under pressure from Lindelof.
90' + 1' Pogba makes a forward run to latch on to Lukaku's lofted pass, but he fails to take the ball in stride in the box.
90' There will be six minutes of added time.
90' OVER! A sign of frustration at Stamford Bridge as Azpilicueta goes for a first-time strike on his left foot, only to blast his effort well over the bar.
88' Chelsea are looking short of ideas in the final third. They've been one dimensional in the second half, with seemingly everything flowing through Hazard. The Belgian cannot do it all on his own.
86' Sanchez has the opportunity to release Lukaku in the box with a throughball, but he overhits his offload to spurn the opening.
A. Sánchez
M. Rashford
85' Sanchez comes on for the closing stages of the match to replace Rashford.
Andreas Pereira
A. Martial
84' Pereira replaces the potential match-winner for United this afternoon Martial.
83' There's a break in play as Rashford receives treatment on the deck. It doesn't seem too serious, which is drawing the ire of the Chelsea players and Sarri on the bench.
81' BLOCK! Giroud and Hazard combine on the edge of the United box to create room for the Belgian to strike at goal, but his effort hits the legs of Lindelof, who puts his body on the line.
80' SAVE! Kepa hesitates as Herrera latches on to a ball over the top, but the Spaniard cannot connect cleanly with his strike under pressure from David Luiz.
O. Giroud
Álvaro Morata
79' It's another underwhelming day for Morata as he gets withdrawn for Giroud with just over 10 minutes remaining.
78' Chelsea win a free-kick in the United half and Alonso continues his poor outing by slicing his effort behind at the back post after Hazard picked him out from the set-piece.
76' Martial has scored his first competitive brace for Man Utd since November 2016 against West Ham.
Ander Herrera
Mata
75' Mourinho makes a defensive-minded substitution as Herrera replaces Mata in the midfield.

A. Martial
Goal
73' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! MARTIAL PUTS UNITED AHEAD!!!! 2-1!!!! The Frenchman collects in the left inside channel before curling his strike into the bottom corner, leaving Kepa with no chance. Mata and Rashford created the opening as the Spaniard beat the challenge of David Luiz before finding Rashford. The England man picked out his team-mate with a cross-field pass into the box. Martial took one touch to control before bending an effort around Azpilicueta into the net. Another comeback from Mourinho's men.
71' SAVE! Willian rolls the ball back to Kante 25 yards from goal and he shifts the ball on to his right foot to strike. The Frenchman's shot heads towards the bottom corner, but De Gea gets down to his right to palm the ball to safety. A crucial save from the Spaniard.
70' Lukaku collects on the edge of the Chelsea box and almost powers his way through a couple of challenges, but David Luiz and Azpilicueta do enough to stop his progress.
R. Barkley
M. Kovačić
69' Barkley is called on to the pitch to replace Kovacic in the middle of the park for the Blues.
Mata
Yellow Card
67' Mata loses the ball on the edge of the Chelsea box and is slightly overzealous in his attempt to regain possession, sliding in hard on Azpilicueta. He goes into the book for his challenge.
66' CHANCE! Willian bends a delightful cross for David Luiz to attack in the box as he drifts free of his man. The Brazilian glances his effort towards the top corner, but he places his effort narrowly wide of the post. A good opening spurned by the Chelsea defender.
65' Chelsea win a free-kick as Willian gets brought down on the right flank by Shaw. Willian will take the set-piece himself.
63' The visitors break on the counter and Lukaku has a run at David Luiz down the right inside channel, but the defender holds firm to knock the ball behind for a corner.
62' Chelsea are struggling to break United down at the moment. Hazard's threat has been quelled to a degree, putting more pressure on Willian and Morata to produce for the home side.
60' Willian and Morata combine to tee up Hazard in the box, but his low effort deflects off Smalling and goes behind for a corner. Chelsea are being too predictable in the final third.
59' Four of Martial's last six Premier League goals have come away from home.
57' OVER! Pogba collects in the final third and goes for the strike at goal from 25 yards, only to curl his effort harmlessly over the bar.
A. Martial
Goal
55' GOALLLLLLLLLLL!!! MARTIAL EQUALISES!!! 1-1!!! Martial levels the scores with a composed finish from close range. Chelsea pay the price for failing to clear the ball from their box. It's a scrappy goal as Martial latches on to a loose ball in the air and brings it under control on the penalty spot. He makes no mistake burying his effort with power beyond Kepa. United are back in the game.
54' SAVE! Chelsea fail to clear the danger from a cross into the box and David Luiz's header comes straight to Mata, who drives the ball towards goal on the half-volley. Kepa makes a sharp reaction save to keep out the Spaniard's strike from 12 yards.
52' Willian drives the resulting corner towards the near post where a crowd of bodies attack the ball. However, De Gea remains strong to punch the ball away from danger.
51' Hazard releases David Luiz's run into the box with a neat back heel. The Brazilian cuts in from the left flank to shoot at goal, only to see his effort deflected behind by Young.
49' Hazard breaks down the left flank and takes on Young in the box. He gets his shot away, but it lacks the power to beat De Gea from a tight angle. The Belgian clutches his ankle after the fact as Young caught him with a late boot.
47' CHANCE! Jorginho drives through the middle of the park and feeds Morata with an incisive throughball in the box. The Spaniard turns Smalling and fires low towards the bottom corner, but De Gea gets down to make the stop.
47' Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 64 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge in which they’ve been ahead at half-time (won 54, drawn 10), last losing against Arsenal in October 2011 (5-3), whilst only Tottenham (34) have won more Premier League games than Manchester United (31) when trailing at the break.
46' We're back underway at Stamford Bridge.
Eden Hazard has been his influential self in the final third, although there has not been a great deal going on around him for the Blues. Alvaro Morata has struggled once again in a Chelsea shirt, while Willian has drifted in and out of the game. Maurizio Sarri may be pondering changes to take complete control of the game. United need a spark of inspiration from somewhere, starting with their front three, who have been underwhelming to say the least.
Chelsea take a 1-0 lead into the break over Manchester United thanks to Antonio Rudiger's header in the 21st minute. The first half was a fairly even contest, with the visitors made to rue one mistake from a set-piece. Paul Pogba lost Rudiger from Willian's corner, allowing the German to head home from six yards. In a game of few chances, the error from the Frenchman could loom large at the end of the match.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 1-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
45' + 2' Willian collects in space in the right inside channel, but United defenders close around him to take the pace off his strike at goal, allowing De Gea to make a simple save.
45' + 1' Mata scoops a hopeful ball over the top for Martial's run, but David Luiz anticipates the lofted cross and heads away from danger. Martial then fouls the Chelsea defender to alleviate the pressure on the home side.
45' There will be two minutes of added time.
43' Chelsea work the ball intricately around the final third before Alonso wraps his boot around a left-footed cross towards Morata. Smalling reads the danger well and heads clear to quell the home side's attack.
41' Jorginho lifts a precise ball over the top of Shaw into the right inside channel for Willian's run. The Brazilian has Morata in support in the middle, but his touch just fails him at the decisive moment.
40' WIDE! Morata has space and time on the edge of the box, but he slices his right-footed strike well wide of the target.
39' Lindelof makes an important header at the back to steer Azpilicueta's cross away from the lurking presene of Morata in the middle. Chelsea would relish a second goal before the break.
39' Chelsea put the pressure on the Red Devils at the back and it draws the mistake from Shaw, who sends the ball out of play deep in his own half.
37' Rudiger searches for Hazard in space down the left flank, only to overhit his lofted pass. Sarri is not too appreciative of his attempt to pick out his team-mate.
35' Manchester United have kept just a single clean sheet from their opening nine Premier League games this season having kept seven shut outs from their opening nine league games of the 2017-18 campaign.
34' Mata curls the resulting free-kick into the box, but Hazard is there to head the ball clear of danger. Mata's delivery was not the best as there were few red shirts to where he lifted his cross.
E. Hazard
Yellow Card
34' Hazard is booked for his cynical challenge on Rashford.
33' Alonso leaves his side of the field exposed and it allows Rashford to charge down the right flank for United. Hazard has to get back to bring down the England man on the edge of the box, conceding a free-kick in the process.
31' Willian scoops the ball over the top for Alonso, who has acres of space in the United box. The Spaniard probably expects to see the offside flag raised, but he's onside, only for his control to let him down at the crucial moment.
A. Rüdiger
Yellow Card
30' Rudiger catches Pogba late in an aerial duel and the referee goes to his card for the third time in the match to book the Chelsea defender.
28' David Luiz allows the ball to bounce in the Chelsea box and Rashford almost capitalises, but the Brazilian is strong in the challenge to block off the forward before he can pounce.
A. Young
Yellow Card
27' This time Hazard does draw the foul from Young as the United right-back comes through the back of the Belgian, clipping his heels.
26' Hazard surges through the middle of the field, but pressure applied by Young stops his run before he can threaten the United defence.
25' Chelsea have lost just two of their last 35 Premier League games in which they’ve scored the first goal (won 31, drawn two, lost two) and are unbeaten in their last 10 in which they’ve opened the scoring prior to today (won eight, drawn two).
24' Kovacic accelerates into the space opened up by United's respect of Hazard. The midfielder charges into the box down the left inside channel and only alert defending from Lindelof stops his progress.
22' Mourinho will be furious with his team for conceding such a cheap goal after a decent start to the contest.
Willian
Assist
21' Willian curls a fine delivery into the box for Rudiger to head home from close range.
A. Rüdiger
Goal
21' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! RUDIGER HEADS CHELSEA INTO THE LEAD!!!! 1-0!!!! A nightmare for United as they present Rudiger with a free header and he converts to put the home side ahead. The delivery from Willian was on the money towards the edge of the six-yard box and the German made a run to latch on to the cross. Rudiger met it with a clean header, stealing a march on Pogba, directing his effort beyond De Gea into the bottom corner.
20' Hazard makes a run into the left inside channel to latch on to Kovacic's offload. The Belgian steers the ball across the face of goal, but there's no blue shirt there to capitalise on the opening as United clear behind for a corner.
18' Morata collects on the edge of the United box and tries to turn past Lindelof, but he loses out to the defender, conceding a goal-kick in the process.
16' WIDE! Young sends a good free-kick into the box that has the Chelsea defence scrambling. The ball is cleared only as far as Shaw, who sends the ball back into the area. Lukaku meets his delivery, but guides a header harmlessly wide of the post.
15' Matic is taken out on the charge by Kovacic and Mourinho is incensed on the sideline, demanding retribution against the Chelsea midfielder. There will be no yellow card for Kovacic though.
N. Matić
Yellow Card
13' Matic brings down Hazard in the Chelsea half and referee Dean goes to his yellow card for the first time of the game. The Serb has to be careful from now on.
12' Rashford seizes on a loose ball and surges into space down the right flank. He looks for Lukaku in the middle with a low cross, but the ball evades the Belgian.
11' OVER! Willian takes the free-kick from the edge of the box, but gets his effort horribly wrong, clearing the bar with his strike. A poor one from the Brazilian.
9' Chelsea take the free-kick quickly and Hazard skips past a challenge from Mata before being brought down on the edge of the box by Matic.
9' Young clatters Hazard in aerial duel, handing Chelsea a free-kick in a decent position in the United half.
8' The visitors move the ball around the final third before Shaw tries to pick out Lukaku on the edge of the box, only to be denied by an interception from an alert Jorginho.
7' Willian attempts to break past Mata on the edge of the United box. The Spaniard just gets enough of a foot on the ball to stop the Chelsea winger's progress before Lindelof clears the danger.
5' Azpilicueta swings a delivery into the box from the right. Morata and Smalling tussle for the ball in the middle. The decision from referee Mike Dean goes the way of the visitors, awarding United a free-kick.
3' Willian makes a burst down the right flank and tries to fire a low ball into the middle from the byline. It deflects towards Hazard in a crowded penalty area, but he cannot connect with an effort at goal.
2' United win a corner on the right flank that Mata swings into the box. The Spaniard's delivery is poor, allowing David Luiz to rise and clear at the near post.
1' Young plays the ball down the right flank for Rashford's run, but David Luiz on the slide diverts it out for a throw-in ahead of the forward.
1' We're underway at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have lost just one of their last 16 home Premier League games against Manchester United (won 10, drawn five, lost one), a 2-3 defeat in October 2012.
United have also made two changes to their line-up for the clash at Stamford Bridge. Mourinho withdraws Scott McTominay and Bailly from the team, which sees Mata and Lindelof come into the starting line-up. Lukaku leads the attack, supported by Rashford and Martial on the flanks.
Sarri makes two changes to his side from their win over Southampton. Barkley drops to the bench, which may have been influenced by his game time for England during the international break. Kovacic replaces him in the middle of the park, while Morata gets the nod to start ahead of Giroud to spearhead the attack.
