Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Burnley secure the three points this afternoon thanks to Chris Wood's strike three minutes into the contest. However, the real story this afternoon is Crystal Palace and their failure at both ends of the pitch. It began with Chung-yong Lee's terrible mistake to allow Wood to pounce, while at the other end the Eagles missed a host of chances - none more so than Scott Dann in the dying embers, putting his header wide of the post. The pressure will rise on Frank de Boer as his side have lost all four of their matches thus far, failing to find the net in each contest.
FULL-TIME: BURNLEY 1-0 CRYSTAL PALACE
The referee ends the contest.
Burnley win a corner with seconds remaining and they should be able to see out the win from this position.
Wood takes the ball into the corner to take a few more seconds off the clock.
Benteke wins a header in the final third, but this one trickles safely into the arms of Pope.
There will be three minutes of added time.
SHOCKING MISS! Dann misses an absolute sitter for the visitors. The defender latches on to Cabaye's brilliant ball across the face of goal, but under pressure from Lowton he guides his header wide of the post. Oh dear - there's nothing De Boer can do about that. His side have let him down back-to-front today.
SAVE! Cabaye goes for the blast from distance and he gets power and accuracy on his strike, but Pope beats the ball way with his fists.
All hands on deck for the Clarets as the visitors pull them one way then the other at the back.
BLOCK! Tarkowski is there again to make an important block at the back as he steers Riedewald's low blast behind for a corner.
WIDE! Townsend weaves his way on to his left foot from the right flank and shoots towards the net. His effort takes a deflection as it heads wide of the post. Palace have a corner and are putting the pressure on the hosts here.
OFF THE LINE! Dann is denied for the second time of the contest as his strike is cleared off the line again. It's eerily similar to his first effort as he collects and lashes the ball on the half-volley towards goal. However, Tarkowski on the lunge clears makes the stop.
Lowton concedes a corner as he gets put under pressure from Lemeka. Can the Eagles get back into the game?
A loose pass from Cabaye eases the pressure on the Burnley defence as the visitors continue to search for a way through.

SAVE! Benteke surges through the middle of the Burnley defence and only has Pope to beat, but the keeper narrows the angle and makes the save with his left foot. The striker kicks out at the post in frustration.
Tarkowski continues his impressive afternoon as he clears the ball away at full stretch just when Ward's low cross appeared to be on course to find Benteke.
BLOCK! Benteke collects in the final third and goes for the strike, but Mee stands in his way and makes the block for the Clarets.
C. Benteke

CHANCE! Townsend lifts a cross to the back post and Lemeka gets ahead of Lowton to head at goal, but his effort deflects off the full-back and heads just wide of the post.
Burnley have ridden out the early pressure from Palace and starting to enjoy a strong period of possession themselves.
Barnes latches on to a long ball forward and knocks it into the path of Wood, but he cannot make contact with his first-time strike on the half-volley.

BLOCK! Puncheon rolls off his man and lines up a blast from the edge of the box, but Tarkowski makes the block in the middle of the Burnley defence.
Palace work the ball around the final third well, but when the time comes for the incisive pass from Schlupp to McArthur the full-back overhits the ball out of play.
Gudmundsson flicks the ball into the path of Wood in space down the right flank, but the offside flag is raised by the linesman.
WIDE! Palace start on the front foot and Schlupp lifts a cross to the back post for Benteke to attack, but he heads well wide of the target.
We're back underway at Turf Moor.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway shortly.
Burnley take a 1-0 lead into the break thanks to Chris Wood's early strike. Crystal Palace's start to the season was epitomised by Chung-yong Lee's mistake in the third minute as he played his backpass straight to the forward, allowing the New Zealand international to find the net. The Eagles had their moments in their attempt to hit back as Scott Dann and Christian Benteke missed opportunities, but other than that both teams have been fairly quiet.

Lowton makes a mistake at the back to allow Benteke to gain possession. However, Tarkowski sticks on the forward and wins the ball on the edge of the box by edging out the Belgian. Excellent defending.
N. Pope
T. Heaton

Burnley are stretched on the break by Townsend and Brady takes two lunges to bring him down. The referee plays advantage and Palace keep the attack alive. Lee lifts a cross to the back post and Heaton claims, but he lands awkwardly on his shoulder. The keeper appears to be in agony on the ground as he receives treatment.

Cork pulls back Cabaye on the turn and although Palace get the free-kick the midfielder manages to stay out of the book.
Joel Ward makes an important intervention for Palace at the back post to steer Gudmundsson's cross away from Brady at the back post. Crosses are coming in too easily at the back for the visitors.

Brady and Ward build down the left and the latter finds space on the channel, but Brady just overhits his pass to send the ball out for a goal-kick. Signs of life down the left flank for the Clarets.
It would have been very easy for Palace to crumble after their early mistake given their awful start to the term. However, De Boer will be satisfied by their response, although they still trail.

Brady slides the ball through to Vokes between the two Palace central defenders, but the ball strikes his heels and lets the visitors off the hook.
CHANCE! Burnley hit back as Ward bursts down the left flank and whips the ball towards the near post. Vokes makes contact with a glancing header, but it flies past the far post. The ball was always heading away from the net, but Palace look vulnerable at the back.
WIDE! Townsend drifts across the pitch to the right flank before lifting the ball into the box for Benteke to attack. The Belgian meets it with a powerful headed effort, but the ball bounces just wide of the post.
OFF THE LINE! Palace almost respond immediately as Dann latches on to a cross in the box and meets it on the half-volley, but Brady is there on the line to clear it away. So close to a leveller for the visitors.
C. Wood
Goal
GOALLLLL!!!!! WOOD FIRES BURNLEY AHEAD! A nightmare start for Palace as Lee makes a huge error at the back playing his backpass straight into space for the foward to collect. Wood held his composure to bend his strike past the on-rushing Hennessey into the net to notch his second goal in as many games for his new club. A dream start for the Clarets, but the tough times continue for Palace and De Boer.
A lot of long balls in the early stages of the match from the visitors, attempting to find Benteke.
We're underway at Turf Moor.
The players are making their way out on to the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
FLASHBACK! Burnley and Palace played out a thriller at Turf Moor last season. However, Ashley Barnes popped up in the fourth minute of stoppage time to secure the win for Dyche's men.

Palace have endured a nightmare start to the season, losing all three of their matches thus far. Frank de Boer is under huge pressure to turn the situation around, with reports suggesting that the club already want to replace the Dutchman. A defeat today could be enough to convince the Palace board not to continue with De Boer just four games into the new campaign.
The Clarets have made a bright start to the season, claiming four points from their opening three games. Sean Dyche's men defeated Chelsea in their opener and drew against Tottenham last time out. However, they did suffer a defeat to West Brom in their first home match of the term, which will make them keen to bounce back.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Burnley and Crystal Palace at Turf Moor.
