Commentary

Thank you for following our coverage of tonight’s Premier League match-up between Brighton and Hove Albion and Fulham. Until next time, stay safe!
Next up for Brighton is the visit of Tottenham on Sunday evening whilst Fulham head into another huge fixture, this time away to West Brom on Saturday afternoon.
This vital battle between two of the Premier League’s struggling sides finishes goalless on the south coast. Brighton had some huge chances to claim all three points, but Fulham defended resolutely to take a valuable point back to Craven Cottage. The visitors could have snatched the win at the end but Dunk's goal line clearance saved the day for the Seagulls.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION 0-0 FULHAM
90' + 2' WHAT A BLOCK! Loftus-Cheek has a massive chance to win it for Fulham at the death. He charges onto a loose ball in the Brighton box, but his effort is turned away by Dunk on the line. Wow.
90' Fulham have a rare chance to advance up the field and Mitrovic sees his headed attempt saved by Sanchez. Brighton continue to push for that all important goal at the other end.
88' It’s all hands on deck for Fulham as the waves of Brighton pressure continue late into this match. Andersen has been a rock at the back for the visitors in this Premier League match-up.
86' This is a huge final five minutes for Fulham in their battle for Premier League survival this season. Brighton’s pressure has been constant in this second half, but the away side have marvellously stood up to the challenge so far.
D. Pröpper
A. Mac Allister
83' Mac Allister departs as Propper joins the action for Brighton.
83' HOW HAVEN’T BRIGHTON SCORED?! Maupay sees a shot from close range turned away expertly by Areola before Aina blocks March’s goalbound shot with his face. Unbelievable defending from the away side.
81' It’s looks like a reshuffle from Scott Parker. Decordova-Reid has filled in at right back and Mitrovic has joined Lookman upfront.
J. Bryan
K. Tete
79' Bryan replaces Tete at the same time for the away side.
A. Mitrović
Ivan Cavaleiro
79' A double substitution is made by the visitors. The first sees Mitrovic replace Cavaleiro.
78' The corner count now stands at 8-0 in favour of Brighton in this Premier League clash. This time Webster gets onto the end of Gross’ delivery but the defender heads wide of the mark.
75' I think if you asked Scott Parker if he’d take a point right now then he’d snap your hand off for it. Brighton have pushed incredibly hard in this second half and have done everything other than put the ball in the back of the Fulham net so far.
73' Maupay is again through on goal but Areola does fantastically to save from close range. The play is then flagged offside by the official on the far touchline.
71' BIG CHANCE! Brighton take a cheeky quick free kick and Mac Allister flicks a lovely ball through to Maupay. The Brighton forward strikes first time under pressure from Andersen from 20 yards out but his effort flies just over the Fulham crossbar.
68' It’s really starting to feel like one goal would be good enough for all three points in this vital Premier League clash. Brighton have looked the more likely throughout but the Fulham counter-attack still presents a big danger to the home side.
M. Lemina
H. Reed
66' The first change of the evening comes as Lemina replaces Reed. That feels a bit harsh on the departing midfielder as he's had a very solid game in the centre of the park for the visitors.
66' Decordova-Reid blocks off Veltman on the right wing and Brighton have another dangerous looking free kick. Gross delivers once again but this time Aina clears the danger.
64' Bissouma strikes from distance but Anguissa gets his frame in the way to block the effort. Those two have had a great battle in midfield this evening.
62' In response to the hosts latest chance, Fulham push forward but Lookman’s effort from 30 yards out ends up going high and wide.
61' Veltman cuts a ball back from the right wing to the feet of Gross but again Reed does brilliantly to block the effort from 20 yards out.
58' Areola quickly rushes out to collect an overhit pass as Trossard looked to be in for the home side. His presence in goal has been huge for Fulham since his arrival on loan from PSG in September.
55' Maupay tries to thread a through-ball to the onrushing Mac Allister but Andersen does brilliantly to intercept the danger. Brighton are just starting to press a bit more now in search of a crucial opener.
52' Fulham look dangerous on the counter-attack. The pace of Lookman in particular is proving a great outlet for the visitors and a constant cause for concern for Graham Potter’s men.
50' CHANCE! Tete floats in a deep cross and Veltman struggles to clear. His headed clearance is poor and lands kindly for Decodova-Reid who strikes a volley just over the Brighton goal from 20 yards out.
48' Well neither manager opted to make any substitutions at half time but changes could come soon into the second half if the deadlock still hasn’t been broken early on. Brighton have started this half as well as they ended the first by getting an early corner. Unfortunately for the hosts though, nothing comes from it.
46' Both sets of players are back on the field and the second-half begins!
Both managers could opt for early changes in the second half of this vital Premier League clash. Fulham boss Scott Parker in particular could change things upfront in an effort to engineer some more chances for his side.
The two sides head into the break goalless with neither outfit doing enough to break the deadlock in the first half. Fulham started brightly but the hosts have had the bigger chances and should have been put ahead through Trossard.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION 0-0 FULHAM
H. Reed
Yellow Card
45' + 1' Reed is the next to be booked. The midfielder pulled down Gross on the break.
45' There’ll be a minimum of two minutes of additional time played.
A. Mac Allister
Yellow Card
44' Mac Allister is shown a yellow card after pulling back Anguissa who was marauding forward on the counter-attack for Fulham.
42' SO CLOSE! Gross steps up to the resulting set piece and hammers a right-footed shot just wide of the far post. That effort was on Areola’s side of the goal but I’m not sure he’d have been able to keep the strike out with the amount of venom that one was hit with.
41' Brighton get a free kick in a very dangerous position – around 30 yards form goal – after Reed fouls Maupay. This could be a big chance for the hosts.
40' The midfield battle between Bissouma and Anguissa has been fascinating in this first half. Anguissa has arguably been the visitors best player so far as he constantly looks to push his side up the field with progressive runs. A few times the two have clashed in midfield.
37' CLOSE! Webster is mugged of possession by Loftus-Cheek and Fulham are away on the counter-attack. Cavaleiro carries the ball some distance before unleashing a strike from the edge of the box but his effort skips just past Sanchez’ near post.
35' Decordova-Reid sneaks around the back of Veltman to meet a deep cross but he can’t head his effort goalward. A rare attempt for Fulham goes begging.
33' This Premier League match has just hit a bit of a lull in the last few minutes. A few freekicks either way in midfield have seen the play become quite scrappy. The weather isn’t helping either as the rain continues to lash down.
30' Brighton and Hove Albion are winless in their three Premier League meetings with Fulham (D2 L1), coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 in their only previous meeting at the Amex Stadium in September 2018.
Y. Bissouma
Yellow Card
27' Bissouma is booked after flying into a tackle with Cavaleiro. The Fulham players weren't happy with that one.
26' Areola rises highest to punch away another corner from March for the home side. Fulham are really struggling to contain Brighton right now despite their own impressive start to this match.
24' It’s been all Brighton in the last ten minutes of this match and in truth, the Seagulls should be leading. Maupay has just seen a shot from distance saved and moments later Gross has had a shot blocked by Reed. Fulham need to wake up and fast.
22' CLOSE! Brighton come forward again and from the right wing Trossard whips a dangerous cross along the Fulham six-yard area. Maupay is charging in to get a touch on it but the French forward just can’t get there in time.
20' CHANCE! Brighton get a freekick in a dangerous area on the right flank and Gross delivers with pace. Dunk manages to get onto the end of the cross but his header is straight at Areola from 15 yards out.
18' The visitors have definitely stolen the early march in this match with over 70% of the possession theirs so far but Brighton have had the majority of the chances. Trossard should have finished moments ago to give the hosts the early lead.
16' HUGE SAVE! Adarabioyo misses his interception on the right wing and Maupay races towards the Fulham goal. The forward cuts back to Trossard who has all the time in the world to finish but Areola denies him with a big right leg save.
14' Fulham’s 0-0 draw with Brighton in December ended a run of 196 home league games without a goalless draw – the Cottagers haven’t drawn both games with an opponent goalless in a season since 2001/02, when they did so against Leicester City. Hopefully that means we're due some goals in this clash tonight!
12' Anguissa is fine to continue after receiving some treatment. That’s a big boost for the visitors as he’s been a huge part of their midfield in recent times.
10' Anguissa goes down in a heap after a tough tackle from Maupay. The replays show that the Brighton man cleanly won the ball, but an awkward fall afterwards seems the problem for the Fulham midfielder.
9' Brighton grab the first corner of this match shortly followed by a second as Andersen clears March’s delivery from the original. The Brighton midfielder whips in the second but again, the visitors clear well.
7' It looks like Fulham will play in a 3-4-3 formation in this Premier League match with Decordova-Reid playing at left wing-back. Loftus-Cheek and Lookman will play either side of Cavaleiro upfront for the visitors.
5' CLOSE! Aina takes a crack from distance. The defender gets the ball 35 yards from the Brighton goal and decides to hit it first time. His effort whistles just over the bar.
3' It’s a very misty night here in Brighton where neither side has taken full control of this match so far. Fulham have shaded the possession but no chances to speak of for either side as of yet.
1' Referee Craig Pawson blows his whistle and we’re underway here on the south coast!
The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick-off is just moments away.
Brighton have won just one of their last 18 home Premier League games (D9 L8). The Seagulls have won just 18 of their 66 home games overall (27%), the lowest percentage in Premier League history among the 42 teams to play in at least three seasons.
Fulham manager Scott Parker opts to bring Areola, Tete and Loftus-Cheek – who were all on the bench for Sunday’s FA Cup loss to Burnley – all back into the starting line-up. Aina, Adarabioyo and Andersen start as the three centre-backs whilst Cavaleiro plays as the left wing-back with Tete on the right. Reed and Anguissa anchor the midfield and Lookman partners Cordova-Reid up top for the visitors.
Brighton head into this huge clash buoyed by the return of Lallana and Connolly who take their respective spots on the bench. On the pitch, boss Graham Potter opts for a 3-4-2-1 set up with Webster, Dunk and White forming the back three whilst Sanchez starts between the sticks after Mat Ryan’s loan move to Arsenal. Bissouma continues in central midfield along with Gross as Veltman and March operate as the wing-backs. Mac Allister and Trossard play off of Maupay upfront for the hosts.
FULHAM SUBS: Marek Rodak, Joe Bryan, Michael Hector, Tim Ream, Neeskens Kebano, Mario Lemina, Josh Onomah, Aboubakar Kamara, Aleksandar Mitrovic.
FULHAM (3-5-2): Alphonse Areola; Tosin Adarabioyo, Joachim Andersen, Ola Aina; Kenny Tete, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Harrison Reed, Ivan Cavaleiro; Ademola Lookman, Bobby Decordova-Reid.
BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION SUBS: Christian Walton, Dan Burn, Steven Alzate, Adam Lallana, Jakub Moder, Davy Propper, Aaron Connolly, Percy Tau, Andi Zeqiri.
BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION (3-4-2-1): Robert Sanchez; Ben White, Lewis Dunk, Adam Webster; Joel Veltman, Yves Bissouma, Pascal Gross, Solly March; Leandro Trossard, Alexis Mac Allister; Neal Maupay.
A huge night of Premier League action beckons on the south coast as two struggling sides in Brighton and Fulham meet in a potential relegation six pointer. With a win Brighton could climb above Newcastle in the standings and subsequently move eight points clear of tonight’s visitors and the drop zone. Fulham will have their own ideas though and a victory could pull them just two points behind their opponents in the Premier League table.
