UEFA Champions League
UEFA Europa League

Thank you for joining our coverage, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until next time, goodbye.
Brighton host Crystal Palace next, while Villa entertain Leicester City at Villa Park.
There goes the full-time whistle! Brighton took a whopping 26 shots, with nine on target, but Villa goalkeeper Martinez was in imperious form between the sticks and made some excellent saves to deny the hosts. The visitors were lacklustre going forward throughout and can count themselves lucky to come away with a point tonight. It finishes 0-0 at the Amex!
90' + 1' SAVE! Trossard strikes a free-kick from just outside the box into the wall, but it ricochets back to the forward and he arrows a volley towards the bottom-right corner, but Martinez gets across to hold on!
M. Sanson
Yellow Card
89' Sanson marks his second appearance for Villa with a yellow card as he puts in a poor challenge on Trossard.
86' NO PENALTY! A cross comes into the Brighton box from the left and Trezeguet hits the deck under pressure from Dunk, but the referee takes no interest whatsoever and waves play on!
84' SAVE! The ball is worked into Welbeck at the near post from the right and the substitute striker tries to prod it in from close range, but Martinez is in the right place once again to keep it out!
82' Despite only coming on in the 62nd minute, no player has created more chances so far in this game than Lallana (3).
D. Welbeck
N. Maupay
80' Potter makes his second change now, with Maupay replaced by Welbeck up front.
79' CHANCE! Grealish hits the left byline and fires a cross into the six-yard box, but it's cleared against Sanson's knee from just a few yards out and deflects wide of the post!
L. Trossard
Yellow Card
77' Trossard is booked now for bringing Trezeguet down as he looked to break away on the counter.
M. Sanson
R. Barkley
76' Smith uses his third and final substitution to replace Barkley with new signing Sanson in midfield.
74' Only Illan Meslier (52) has made more saves in away Premier League games this season than Martinez (47).
72' WIDE! Maupay races into the box with the ball and jinks past one defender, then another, but he ends up at a very tight angle on the left side of the six-yard box and can only fire wide as he loses his balance!
Douglas Luiz
Yellow Card
70' Douglas Luiz is booked now for a poor challenge on Mac Allister inside his own half.
68' SAVE! Burn picks up a loose ball out from the back by McGinn and charges forward before thumping a strike at goal, but it's a little central and Martinez holds the powerful effort!
Bertrand Traoré
66' Smith makes his second change of the night now, bringing Traore off for Trezeguet on the right wing as he looks to seize the initiative and grab a winner.
64' SAVE! Great save by Martinez! Veltman shifts inside from the right and strikes a fierce effort that takes a wicked deflection on its way towards goal, but Martinez reacts quickly and somehow gets a hand to the ball and keeps it out!
A. Lallana
S. Alzate
62' Meanwhile, Potter also decides to make an alteration, replacing Alzate with Lallana and moving to a back four in an attempt to get what could be a decisive goal.
Ahmed El Mohamady
M. Cash
61' Cash, who went down holding his hamstring in the build-up to Trossard's chance, has been receiving treatment and is forced to stay off, with Elmohamady coming on in his place.
60' WIDE! Trossard dances into the box from the left that is blocked up into the air. The forward is first to the loose ball as it drops, however, and works another yard before drilling a shot towards the near post that fizzes narrowly past the post!
58' WIDE! Grealish wriggles into the box from the left and tries to curl one into the far corner, but he can only fire wide of the post!
56' Trossard is found with his back to goal on the right side of the box and tries to hook a spectacular shot over his shoulder and into the top corner, but he miscues the strike completely and Martinez can simply catch the ball as it drops.
54' Grealish wins a free-kick in the Brighton half, but Villa can't make the most of the set-piece and Brighton end up with the ball back.
52' Despite Brighton taking the most shots in the first half of a Premier League game in their history (12), Villa enter the second half with their clean sheet intact. Only Manchester City have conceded fewer first-half goals (5) in the Premier League this season than Villa (8).
50' Mings launches it forward for Barkley, who had made a run in behind the Brighton defence, but the flag goes up for offside to deny the midfielder.
48' SAVE! Martinez is called into action at the other end as Mac Allister smacks an effort towards the bottom-left corner, but the Villa shot-stopper gets across to keep it out!
47' SAVE! Barkley finds a pocket of space on the edge of the box and hits a low drive towards goal, but Sanchez is on hand to make the save low down!
46' We're back underway for the second half!
Potter will be pleased with his side's performance, but their inability to convert strong passages of play into something tangible will be a continuation of an ongoing concern for him. Meanwhile, Smith will surely demand much more from his men, who have looked flat and lacklustre so far this evening.
There goes the half-time whistle! Brighton have dominated the first half, taking 12 shots to Villa's one, but some wayward finishing and a handful of solid saves by Martinez have kept the scores level so far. The hosts had Villa under significant pressure for a sustained spell, but just couldn't make the breakthrough. It's 0-0 at the break!
45' Brighton are finding Veltman in space on the right time and time again. Grealish isn't tracking back to provide Targett with cover on the occasions the left-back is pulled out of position.
43' Villa are finally enjoying a spell of possession but they're really struggling to create anything at present. They look a little flat on the ball.
41' Brighton have really ramped the pressure up in the last five minutes or so. Villa are scrambling at the back but have somehow survived thus far.
39' SAVE! Martinez makes another good stop! A corner finds Burn in the middle and the towering defender nods towards the far corner, but Martinez leaps to his right to turn the ball around the post!
37' SAVE! Trossard is fed on the edge of the box to the left and he fires a fierce effort high towards goal, but Martinez gets a strong hand to it and palms it over the crossbar!
35' BLOCK! Maupay chases the ball to the right side of the six-yard box and lashes at goal from a tight angle, but the area is crowded and the strike is blocked, with Martinez on hand to gather the loose ball.
33' Watkins appears to have a problem with his boots and goes to the sidelines to change into a new pair. He's back on the field now after a short delay.
31' SAVE! Gross opts to go towards the goalkeeper's side with power, but doesn't get it right in the corner and Martinez is in a good position to get his body behind it and makes the stop!
30' Maupay charges towards the box from the left and goes down under pressure just outside the area. The free-kick is in a very promising position.
27' Both teams are progressing the ball well through midfield, but neither has quite clicked in the final third. Brighton have certainly created more chances to this point, however.
25' OVER! Mac Allister stands over a free-kick on the edge of the Villa box to the right and goes over the wall towards the top-right corner, but blasts it narrowly over the top!
23' Since the start of last season, Grealish has been shown more yellow cards (14) than any other Villa player in the Premier League.
J. Grealish
Yellow Card
21' Grealish now goes into the book himself for pulling Veltman back as Brighton looked to break away down the right.
S. Alzate
Yellow Card
20' Alzate goes sliding in on Grealish at the right byline and doesn't get the ball. He seems perplexed at the referee's decision to book him, but it's a clear yellow.
18' WIDE! Villa work a sharp attack from left to right and Douglas Luiz is set up on the edge of the box by Barkley. The Brazilian goes for a trademark curler towards the far corner, but sends it just wide!
15' Only Tottenham (32%) have conceded a lower proportion of their Premier League goals in the first half than Aston Villa this season (33% - 8/24). Can they extend that record tonight?
13' SAVE! Veltman is found in space on the right once again and he drives infield, getting to the edge of the box before hitting a low shot back towards the near post, but Martinez is down sharply and makes the save!
11' Brighton are enjoying a positive spell and are looking particularly threatening down their right, with Veltman looking lively at right wing-back.
9' OVER! Bissouma pings the ball to Veltman at the right byline and the defender crosses into the box for Maupay, but Villa clear. Brighton have it back, however, and it's worked back out wide for Veltman to cross into the middle again and Mac Allister rises highest to meet it, but can only head over the bar!
7' WIDE! Trossard lofts the ball into the box from deep and Burn, who has stayed in the box following a free-kick, tries to flick it towards the far corner, but he can't direct it and can only help the ball wide!
5' A deflected right-wing cross finds its way to Mac Allister on the edge of the Villa box, but his attempted strike from distance is charged down and spins behind for a corner.
3' It's been an open start here has both teams search for openings, but no early goalmouth action just yet.
1' We're underway at the Amex!
Villa’s 11 Premier League wins this season is their most in a single top-flight campaign since 2010-11 (12), while their six away wins is their most in the Premier League since 2009-10 (9).
Brighton’s last three home Premier League wins have all been in three different years, winning in December 2019, June 2020 and January 2021. The Seagulls haven’t won consecutive home games since November 2019.
Meanwhile, Villa head coach Dean Smith makes just one alteration after his side beat Arsenal 1-0 last time out as Douglas Luiz replaces the benched Nakamba in midfield. Wesley and Kortney Hause are the only two absentees for the visitors.
Brighton boss Graham Potter makes six changes from the rotated side that started in the 1-0 FA Cup defeat against Leicester City in their last outing. Walton, Karbownik, Lallana, Moder, Tau and Zeqiri drop to the bench, with Sanchez, Bissouma, Veltman, Mac Allister, Trossard and Maupay replacing them. Florin Andone, Tariq Lamptey, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Davy Propper, Adam Webster and Solly March are all out injured.
Aston Villa substitutes: Bjorn Engels, Marvelous Nakamba, Ahmed Elmohamady, Jacob Ramsey, Keinan Davis, Morgan Sanson, Tom Heaton, Trezeguet, Anwar El Ghazi.
Aston Villa XI (4-2-3-1): Emiliano Martinez; Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, Matt Targett; John McGinn, Douglas Luiz; Bertrand Traore, Ross Barkley, Jack Grealish; Ollie Watkins.
Brighton and Hove Albion substitutes: Danny Welbeck, Christian Walton, Adam Lallana, Aaron Connolly, Michal Karbownik, Jakub Moder, Percy Tau, Davy Propper, Andi Zeqiri.
Brighton and Hove Albion XI (3-4-1-2): Robert Sanchez; Ben White, Lewis Dunk, Dan Burn; Joel Veltman, Pascal Gross, Yves Bissouma, Steven Alzate; Alexis Mac Allister; Neal Maupay, Leandro Trossard.
Ninth-placed Villa come into this one knowing that a win over Brighton would take them seventh, just two points behind fourth-placed Liverpool with two games in hand on the reigning champions.
