Commentary

Belarus get the small respite of rising to fourth place in the group now Estonia's goal difference has taken a battering. They probably won't qualify, but they won't get humiliated either. That's it now for both sides until September. Will Northern Ireland qualify? Let's find out. Goodbye!
That win puts Northern Ireland in a powerful position in Group C, still top of the group with 12 points and three points clear of Germany who thumped Estonia 8-0, although the Germans still have that game in hand. More importantly, they're already nine points ahead of the Netherlands in third having played two more. Their second consecutive European Championship qualification looks distinctly possible.
A classy goal by Paddy McNair gives Northern Ireland their fourth consecutive victory in Group C and their second win over Belarus, although in truth this one was a bit of a slog. The game was largely even without many clear-cut chances, but Northern Ireland gradually ramped up the pressure and got their reward in the end. Belarus will be disappointed to have nothing to show from this performance.
90' + 4' FULL TIME: BELARUS 0-1 NORTHERN IRELAND
90' + 3' The green-clad Northern Ireland fans are jubilant, and rightly so. Belarus look like they've got nothing left.
S. Dallas
Yellow Card
Northern Ireland
90' + 2' Dallas is shown the yellow card for something or other. He probably won't mind that much.
90' There will be four added minutes. Kislyak hands Northern Ireland a free-kick in a central position after fouling McNair. Lafferty's shot is on target but Gutor pushes it away!
89' Veretilo receives the ball from Kovalev and gets a chance from the right side of the box but he can't hit the target. Belarus are unlucky to be losing.
88' That's McNair's first goal for his country! What's more, Northern Ireland keep up their record of letting someone new score against Belarus. They've scored six against Belarus in their three games against them now, with six different goalscorers.
P. McNair
Goal
Northern Ireland
86' GOAL! 1-0 NORTHERN IRELAND! The away side get the winning goal with the game's one true piece of skill! From a throw-in on the left McNair plays a one-two with Jones, skips past a defender as he bursts into the box and smashes the ball past Gutor.
K. Lafferty
Yellow Card
Northern Ireland
83' Lafferty's only been on the pitch for ten minutes. He's booked for leaving a high foot on Veretilo.
82' Smith fires another shot over from outside the box following a set-piece. A few more of those and Northern Ireland might get lucky.
80' Saville's header in the centre of the box is blocked after he gets on the end of Smith's cross. Will either side get what will surely be the winning goal?
78' Both sides are spying the win now. Nekhajchik drags a shot wide from the left side of the box when Kovalev feeds him following a fast break away.
77' There we go! Smith comes close with a left-footed shot following a corner given away by Nekhajchik but it whistles just over the crossbar.
76' Veretilo gives Northern Ireland a corner they can't do anything with. That's 13 corners between the two sides now. Surely they can come up with one decent delivery?
74' Laptev is penalised for a fairly innocuous handball, and Northern Ireland suddenly lay siege to Belarus' goal! First Saville tests Ketor after unexpectedly finding some space in front of goal, then Dallas and Jones have shots blocked.
K. Lafferty
C. Washington
Northern Ireland
72' Northern Ireland make their final change too. Washington won't be scoring again today. Lafferty replaces him up front.
O. Veretilo
I. Shitov
Belarus
71' Belarus make their final sub. The hard-working Shitov's day is over. Veretilo takes over at right-back.
70' Chance for Belarus! Kislyak feeds Stasevich in the centre of the box and Peacock-Farrell makes the save! Belarus do nothing with the corner.
G. Saville
C. Evans
Northern Ireland
69' Northern Ireland make another change. Middlesbrough midfielder Saville comes on for Evans.
J. Evans
Yellow Card
Northern Ireland
69' Jonny Evans gets a yellow card for arriving to tackle Kovalev a fraction too late.
68' Northern Ireland's brief spell on the ball comes to an end when Jones fouls Shitov. Now Belarus can attack. Polyakov tries a sliding pass but it rolls harmlessly out for a throw.
67' Neither side can keep the ball for long in midfield at the moment. The game is starting to fizzle out.
65' Kislyak gets a first-time shot away that rolls tamely into Peacock-Farrell's arms. That's Belarus' first shot on target.
63' Cathcart concedes a corner for Belarus. Northern Ireland don't deal with it fully and the home side get a free-kick on the right flank that Kislyak takes. This time Northern Ireland do deal with it.
61' Northern Ireland are still threatening too, albeit not much. McNair has a shot of his own from outside the box blocked.
59' Belarus get their first real chances of the game. Laptev's in-swinging cross falls to Nekhajchik, whose shot is blocked. Maevski blazes over on the follow-up.
D. Laptev
Y. Schikavko
Belarus
58' Belarus make another change. Schikavka goes off. Laptev comes on in his place.
57' Belarus' free-kick comes to nothing. It wouldn't be a surprise if this were to end 0-0.
J. Lewis
Yellow Card
Northern Ireland
57' Lewis sees yellow for sliding into the front of Shitov just as he was about to deliver a cross. Belarus have a free-kick in a promising position.
S. Dallas
J. Magennis
Northern Ireland
56' O'Neill reacts. Magennis is hauled off. Dallas replaces him on the wing.
55' It's another Northern Ireland corner and another Belarus clearance. The away side are building pressure but maybe need to change things up.
53' Polyakov's poor back-pass almost presents Washington with a one-on-one chance! Thankfully for the Belarusian left-back, Gutor is alert and gets there first to kick it away.
51' Northern Ireland are upping the tempo. McNair wins his side a corner after Naumov stops his run towards the box. Belarus hook it away.
49' Northern Ireland see the free-kick away and build an attack of their own down the left. Lewis cuts inside unexpectedly on his right foot and delivers an in-swinging cross that deceives Gutor and forces a panicked clearance. Washington stings Gutor's hands from range on the follow-up.
48' Shitov wins a free-kick on Belarus' right flank after he's cut down by Jones. The right-back has been bright so far.
46' The second half gets underway. Will we see a goal or two today?
S. Kislyak
N. Korzun
Belarus
45' Belarus make a substitution at half-time: Korzun is replaced by Kislyak. Maybe that's because Korzun was on a yellow card.
Speaking of Washington, his goal against Estonia last time out was his first for club or country in 31 appearances after he last netted for QPR against Wolves in February 2018. If that's who we're relying on to open the scoring, it may take a while...
It's not been a classic so far. Belarus have just about shaded possession but the best chance fell to Northern Ireland via Washington very early on, and even that was only a half-chance. Let's hope for better after the break.
45' HALF TIME: BELARUS 0-0 NORTHERN IRELAND
45' The referee takes pity on everyone and blows for half-time.
44' Shitov is bundled over by Washington near his own corner flag. The ball's lumped forward and Shikavka chases down Jones, winning Belarus a corner down their right. Nothing comes of it.
43' Maevski finds Kovalev with a looped pass out right. Shitov eventually gets the ball in but Corry Evans is there to cut it out and hook it away.
41' Jonny Evans barges into the back of Kovalev and hands Belarus a free-kick on the right flank. Northern Ireland get it away but not completely. Belarus have a throw down their left.
39' Northern Ireland tire of this and nick the ball back. Now they take turns to pass it at the back. The crowd shows its displeasure, Evans angles a pass forward for Magennis and promptly hands over possession.
37' Belarus manage to work the ball out from the back under some pressure. They look content with passing it around without much urgency in getting it forward.
35' A long throw into the box causes Belarus a few problems. Martynovich eventually rises high to nod the ball away and gets barged over by Corry Evans for good measure.
N. Korzun
Yellow Card
Belarus
35' Korzun sees the first yellow card of the game after an over-zealous challenge on Magennis who had beaten him for pace.
33' Belarus are knocking the ball around now. Northern Ireland are having to stay patient and alert.
31' Stasevich had a shot blocked a few moments ago. Now Lewis bursts down the left flank and whips a cross in that Martynovich heads clear.
29' Belarus have switched to a 4-2-3-1 with Shikavka behind Nekhajchik after Northern Ireland's early dominance. The home team are shading possession at the moment - 53% to Northern Ireland's 43%.
27' Northern Ireland finally get the ball back after McNair is brought down in midfield. The away side can't control the play at the moment.
25' Belarus are on the up. Polyakov is set free down the left and plays a nice teasing ball that Corry Evans heads out for a corner. Washington gives Belarus another corner that they can't do anything with.
23' Belarus go on the attack. Shitov picks up a sliding pass right by the goalline and crosses in. Cathcart heads it away.
21' Shitov blazes over and McNair wins a foul on the right wing. Northern Ireland are getting a lot of free-kicks but can't do much with them. This time Evans loops an effort into Gutor's arms.
19' Northern Ireland get a succession of corners. Belarus manage to hook the ball away but only as far as Korzun, who fouls Smith. It's not been a great game so far.
17' Belarus go up the other end and get a corner of their own, conceded by Lewis. Northern Ireland get the ball back and try to counter but Washington is offside.
15' Northern Ireland get their first corner of the game when Shitov halts Jones' run to the byline. Davis takes it, and it bounces through to Korzun who hesitates, but manages to shield the ball and win a foul off Magennis.
13' It's been a niggly start to the game. Belarus have committed six fouls already.
11' Evans intercepts a pass and lays off to Norwich's marauding left-back Lewis, who is pulled back by Korzun. Belarus clear their lines and Gutor almost sets Kovalev free with a throw. Peacock-Farrell rushes out to loop the ball clear.
9' Belarus are easing into this game. The home side pop a few passes around before surrendering possession, only for Peacock-Farrell to lump the ball upfield and hand it straight back.
7' Belarus venture forward and win a free-kick when Maevski is brought down by McNair. It's lofted in but Martynovich fouls Jones. Northern Ireland goal-kick.
5' Northern Ireland are keeping Belarus pinned in their own half, winning a series of free-kicks. The away side are feeling confident, and why wouldn't they?
3' Northern Ireland are setting the tempo of the game in the early stages. Washington receives the ball from Lewis, skips past a Belarusian defender and flashes a shot just wide of Gutor's right-hand post! Close by the Sheffield United striker.
1' This Group C clash is now underway!
The two teams enter the Borisov Arena pitch. Belarus will play in their usual all-white strip; Northern Ireland are handily wearing all-green.
Northern Ireland have won both their previous games against Belarus and are looking to make Belarus the sixth team they've defeated in all of their first three encounters - Turkey, Romania, Latvia, Malta and San Marino all suffered that fate. Belarus have conceded at least two goals in their last three games, losing all of them - can the Eastern Europeans spring a surprise?
Belarus boss Igor Kriushenko makes four changes from the side that lost 2-0 to Germany here in Borisov three days ago. Stasevich and Korzun join Maevski in midfield, and Shikavka makes only his second start for his country up front with Kovalev. Northern Ireland also make four changes from their victory over Estonia - Corry Evans replaces Saville in midfield, while there's a whole new front three of Magennis, Washington and Jones.

Northern Ireland, meanwhile, have started well, winning their opening three games including the reverse fixture between these two sides back in March. They're currently top of Group C ahead of Germany and the Netherlands, although they both have a game in hand. Can Michael O'Neill's men cement their strong position with another victory here?
Belarus' success in their UEFA Nations League campaign hasn't translated to their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign so far. Three consecutive defeats have left Belarus rock bottom of Group C without a point after they lost 2-0 here to Germany a few days ago. Automatic qualification for them will now be an uphill struggle.
Hello and welcome to our live text commentary of this Euro 2020 qualifying Group C clash between Belarus and Northern Ireland at Borisov Arena.
