  1. Hertha BSC have avoided defeat to Bayern München four times in the last three seasons (W1 D3) – more than any other BL team.
  2. Hertha are, however, without a win in each of their last 24 away meetings with Bayern in the Bundesliga (D5 L19). Their last victory in Munich came in October 1977 (a 2-0 win with Gerhard Grau & Bernd Gersdorff scoring).
  3. The only previous MD1 meeting between Bayern and Hertha took place 19 years ago - Bayern won 4-1 in the Munich Olympic Stadium on 12th August 2000.
  4. Bayern have won their opening fixture in each of the last seven seasons – no other Bundesliga side has ever achieved this before. They have scored 25 goals (3.6 on average) and only conceded four times in those games.
  5. Bayern were unbeaten in their last 14 Bundesliga games in 2018/19 (W11 D3). Their last league defeat came at Leverkusen on 2nd February 2019 (3-1).
  6. After a 3-3 draw with Fortuna Düsseldorf on 24th November 2018, Bayern went on to win each of their remaining eleven Bundesliga home games by an aggregate score of 38-4.
  7. Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski scored on MD1 for the fourth consecutive season last season, equalling the Bundesliga record - only Stefan Kießling and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar have achieved this previously.
  8. This will be Hertha’s first involvement in the Bundesliga opening fixture since its inauguration in 2002, when they drew 2-2 in Dortmund. Bart Goor gave Hertha the lead in the 1st minute, which is the earliest ever goal in a BL opening match.
  9. Since winning promotion back to the Bundesliga in 2013, Hertha BSC haven’t lost any of their MD1 fixtures (W5 D1) and have won each of their last four.
  10. Ante Covic will be Hertha’s 25th Bundesliga coach. This will be the first time a coach will face Bayern on their BL debut since Josef Zinnbauer’s Hamburg side drew 0-0 at home against Pep Guardiola’s Bayern in September 2014.
