8th Finals
UEFA Europa League

It's a memorable win for Lokomotiv in Leverkusen, then, and one which gives them a chance of getting out of Group D. Only time will tell if they can pull off the trick against Atletico and Juve - there's five more games to come after all - but they can dream. That's all for now. Goodbye!
Lokomotiv end the first matchday top of Group D with three points after Atletico Madrid drew 2-2 with Juventus at the Wanda Metropolitano. Leverkusen are bottom. Sure, it's only one game, but Leverkusen look like they're already facing an uphill struggle to qualify for the next round.
Lokomotiv Moscow get their first win against a German side since September 1995! The Russian visitors deserve it too after holding firm against a wasteful Leverkusen. Lokomotiv took the lead twice in the first half, then stayed disciplined in the second half to secure the win. That's the first win by a Russian side in Germany since Zenit won 2-1 in Dortmund in 2014.
90' + 4' Leverkusen launch one last cross into Lokomotiv's box but it's drifting towards goal and Guilherme rises high to claim. That's it! Lokomotiv have done it!
B. Idowu
João Mário
90' + 3' Lokomotiv make the customary time-wasting substitution in injury time, as is their right. Mario departs and is replaced by Idowu.
90' + 1' Lokomotiv attempt to counter from the corner but rush back after the attack breaks down. Bellarabi has another cross blocked and it's a throw for Leverkusen.
90' Two added minutes for Leverkusen to find a goal. Bellarabi wins yet another corner down the right. Havartz fails to find a teammate and it's easily cleared.
89' Volland misses another chance as he plants a poor header wide of the right post from Tah's cross in. That's just after Bellarabi has a shot blocked. Lokomotiv have defended well but Leverkusen have been wasteful.
87' GUILHERME KEEPS LEVERKUSEN OUT! Amiri sends a low drive towards the bottom right corner that Guilherme tips aside. He then rushes across to push the ball behind the goal before Havartz can get there! It's a corner for Leverkusen that doesn't beat the first man.
85' Bellarabi continues to get space down Leverkusen's right flank but his deliveries into the box aren't testing Lokomotiv's defenders. Leverkusen need more ideas if they're to get a late goal here.
83' The game is getting increasingly frantic. Mario whips in a cross from the right and Smolov heads towards goal, but it's not powerful enough to beat Hradecky, who drops low to his right to stop it! That could have been it for Leverkusen.
82' Leverkusen have to be careful still. Smolov almost wriggles through on goal but he has no support. Up the other end, Guilherme stops a high cross from the right one-handed.
80' Bellarabi jinks past Rybus and tests Guilherme with a powerful shot at his near post. Lokomotiv's veteran keeper is equal to it.
78' Volland is brought down by Ignatjev just in front of Lokomotiv's box. Amiri's right-footed free-kick whistles just over Guilherme's crossbar. Leverkusen are getting closer to scoring.
C. Aránguiz
Yellow Card
76' Aranguiz is booked for an petulant foul on Zhemaletdinov. Leverkusen are starting to lose their patience.
75' Leverkusen get another corner off Corluka. Amiri takes it and Havertz looks for one of his teammates in the box but Lokomotiv clear.
73' Havertz wastes an opportunity to equalise!  Havertz latches onto Bellarabi's cross outside the box but drags his left-footed shot just wide to the right.
N. Amiri
J. Baumgartlinger
71' Leverkusen make another attacking change. Baumgartlinger off. Amiri - a summer arrival from Hoffenheim - on.
70' Lokomotiv get their first shot of the second half. Krychowiak picks up the ball from Barinov and blasts high and wide from range.
69' Lokomotiv get away with a blunder! Guilherme rushes out to catch a cross but somehow misses it. Luckily for the visitors, there's no one from Leverkusen near it before they get it away.
67' Lokomotiv get forward for a little while. First Mario's cross is headed away, then Sven Bender makes a great sliding interception to stop Lokomotiv getting into the box. Havertz gets loose down the right and Ignatjev punts his low cross out for a throw.
65' Volland has another header in the centre of the box saved by Guilherme. The shot count is now Leverkusen 10-6 Lokomotiv. Lokomotiv haven't had a sniff of goal this half.
63' Chance for Leverkusen! Havertz gets on the end of a Bellarabi cross and it bounces off the back of one of Lokomotiv's centre-backs, catching Guilherme out in front of goal. Lokomotiv get rid quickly.
61' Mario gives Leverkusen a free-kick in a dangerous position as he slides in on Baumgartlinger. Volland's left-footed effort fizzes wide.
59' Leverkusen get their sixth corner of the game as Rybus again blocks a cross, this time from Lars Bender. Baumgartlinger takes a shot from the edge of the box from the corner but it's blocked.
57' Rybus concedes another corner for Leverkusen, clearing Havertz' ball into the box. Aranguiz takes the corner short but Lokomotiv see it away. They're holding firm for now.
Yellow Card
55' Leverkusen clear the corner but not entirely. Sven Bender takes a whack in the knee from the over-eager Barinov, who is booked.
53' Lokomotiv get a bit of a breather as they push Leverkusen back into their own half. They win a corner that Mario will take.
51' Leverkusen are suddenly looking more threatening. A cross into the box finds Alario, who forces Guilherme to make a save low at his near post! Leverkusen get a corner down the right but can't do anything with it.
49' Danger for Lokomotiv early on here! Volland gets loose down the left and bounces a cross-shot across goal that no one in red can reach. Seconds later, Volland tries again, this time finding Bellarabi who hits the ball into the ground. It bounces up and Havartz arrives to head over!
47' Leverkusen start the second half as they did the first, dictating the play. Bellarabi darts down the inside-right but summons the offside flag.
45' The second half begins! Will Lokomotiv prevent Leverkusen pulling a goal back again?
45' Bosz wastes no time in trying to salvage this game, making a change for Leverkusen at half-time. The largely ineffectual Bailey goes off. The Argentine striker Alario replaces him.
Lokomotiv's experience is serving them well so far. Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz has yet to win a Champions League game as manager, drawing two and losing four during his ill-fated spell with Dortmund in 2017. Lokomotiv boss Yuri Semin, meanwhile, has overseen 40 games in this competition before today. Will Bosz's Leverkusen find a way to beat this wily Lokomotiv side?
Maybe Russian sides can win in Germany after all. Leverkusen have by and large controlled play but only because Lokomotiv have wanted them to. The visitors have been ruthless in exploiting Leverkusen's mistakes at the back - Krychowiak's goal was a fine finish, while Barinov's goal was a beauty. Leverkusen have no choice but to push further in the second half.
45' + 1' Bellarabi races down the right and Rybus comes across to concede the corner. Bailey's delivery finds the head of Volland in the six-yard box, but the striker's header is just over the bar! It's not been a bad first half.
45' Wendell lofts a cross into the penalty area but there's no one there for Leverkusen. There'll be two added minutes for now.
43' Leverkusen are probing again but can't get through Lokomotiv's wall of white-and-green shirts. Howedes tries a through ball but Zhemaletdinov is caught offside.
41' Leverkusen win a corner. Guilherme leaps up to intercept Bailey's delivery. Barring their goal, Leverkusen's possession has largely been for nothing.
39' Leverkusen really have been their own worst enemies in this first half. Lokomotiv have worked very hard and have managed to capitalise on two defensive mistakes.
D. Barinov
37' WHAT A GOAL BY BARINOV! 2-1 LOKOMOTIV! Lokomotiv's plan is definitely working! A terrible pass back puts Leverkusen in dreadful trouble! Hradecky rushes out to try to sweep up and Barinov curls a wonderful shot into the empty net from outside the area!
36' Lokomotiv have had about 25% possession in this first half but lead Leverkusen on the shot count 5-2. You have to say that their gameplan is working for the most part.
35' Barinov manages to nick the ball from a Leverkusen throw in. Aranguiz cannily decides to give away the foul to prevent another counter-attack.
33' Sven Bender slides in on Smolov as Lokomotiv attack again. The ref gives Leverkusen's centre-back the benefit of the doubt.
31' Aranguiz looks for Bellarabi with a through ball but the German winger is offside.
29' Lokomotiv's goalscorer Krychowiak gets sight of goal and punts a powerful drive into the arms of Hradecky. Lokomotiv look a lot livelier since they scored.
27' Lokomotiv look to regain the lead straight away. Zhemaletdinov's cross from the right is blocked and bobbles nicely to Barinov, who drags his shot wide from the edge of the area. More warning signs for Leverkusen, who look prone defensively.
B. Höwedes
Own Goal
25' GOAL! 1-1 LEVERKUSEN! A great ball finds Lars Bender in space down the right. His cut-back finds Aranguiz, who shoots. Howedes manages to get in the way but he can only divert it past Guilherme into the net. Aranguiz will claim it!
23' Bailey's corner from the right is woeful and sails out of play. It's a goal-kick for Lokomotiv.
22' Havertz tries to thread Volland into the box but Ignatjev comes across to block. Leverkusen get a corner.
20' Sven Bender brings down Smolov about 30 yards from goal. Lokomotiv free-kick. Corluka lofts the ball into the box and wins his side a corner. Zhemaletdinov takes and Leverkusen clear.
18' Lokomotiv almost score again as another poor Leverkusen pass in midfield leaves Lokomotiv two-on-two! Smolov bears down on goal but this time a defender gets back to block the shot. Zhemaletdinov blazes over from the rebound. What are Leverkusen playing at?
João Mário
17' That's an assist that Mario will be proud of. His touch cut Leverkusen's defence wide open and the home side have been punished. How will they react to that early setback?
G. Krychowiak
16' GOAL! 1-0 LOKOMOTIV! Well, that makes things interesting! Smolov manages to pressure Sven Bender into conceding a throw on his left. Mario manages to intercept the throw and suddenly Krychowiak is through on goal! The Polish midfielder coolly slots the ball past Hradecky.
14' Bellarabi puts his hands up in apology after his attempted cross from the right floats out of play. Guilherme's goal-kick gives Leverkusen the ball straight back. The same happens again seconds later.
13' Rybus' throw winds up soon enough into the arms of Hradecky. Lokomotiv can't afford to waste what little possession they're going to get.
11' Lokomotiv finally win the ball after a few minutes of waiting and break down their left. Smolov skips inside but is crowded out. Lokomotiv win a throw though.
9' Leverkusen have had over 89% possession of the ball so far. Lokomotiv are going to have to bide their time.
7' Leverkusen resume their early dominance as Lokomotiv drop all their players back into their half. Aranguiz manages to slide Havertz into the box. Guilherme drops low to catch Havertz's left-footed shot.
6' Barinov leaves the field of play temporarily before coming back on. It looks like he'll be OK.
4' Bailey teases Ignatjev on the edge of the box but can't get past him. Leverkusen quickly lose the ball and Lokomotiv try to break. Barinov slides to beat Tah to a loose pass and stays down injured. Lokomotiv put it out for him to be treated.
3' Tah clips Mario down Lokomotiv's left flank, giving away a foul. The visitors are looking very compact in these early stages.
2' Leverkusen start brightly, passing the ball around in Lokomotiv's half. After a minute or so, Leverkusen get tired of keeping the ball and loft it straight into the arms of Guilherme.
1' This Group D match is underway!
The two sides are out on the pitch at a strangely half-full BayArena. Leverkusen are wearing their usual all-red home kit, while Lokomotiv are in their white away kit with a green trim.
Russian clubs don't tend to fare well against German sides in Europe - there have been 32 such matches in Champions League history, and the Russians have only won five of them, and only once in Germany. Lokomotiv have also lost their last seven European meetings with German clubs, dating back to 1995. Will history go Leverkusen's way, or will Lokomotiv pull off a shock?
Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz largely keeps his faith in a side that suffered a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Borussia Dortmund in its last match. The only change to their starting XI from that game sees Bailey come in for Amiri. Lokomotiv also only make two changes from their 1-0 victory over Sochi - Cerqueira and Rybus are in, while Miranchuk is injured and Zhivoglyadov is benched.

This is the first ever competitive meeting of these two sides. Leverkusen make their first Champions League appearance since 2016-17, while Lokomotiv are enjoying consecutive campaigns in the competition for the first time since a three-season run in the early 2000s.
With Juventus and Atletico Madrid also in Group D in this season's Champions League, no one's expecting Bayer Leverkusen or Lokomotiv Moscow to pull up any trees. However, Germany's fourth and Russia's second best sides last year should have enough about them to make this group competitive.
