Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Bayern will next be in action in the Champions League when the competition returns in August. Likewise Bayer Leverkusen will resume their Europa League campaign in August.
Bayern Munich clinch the DFB-Pokal for the 20th time and for the second season on the bounce with a 4-2 triumph over Bayer Leverkusen. David Alaba put them ahead in the first-half with a well-struck free-kick before Serge Gnabry doubled their advantage. Robert Lewandowski found the net courtesy of a mistake by Leverkusen keeper Lukas Hradecky. Sven Bender got one back to pull his team back into the contest. However, Lewandowski notched his second to secure the cup, despite a late penalty from Kai Havertz. Bayern were clinical and deserve their cup triumph to go with their Bundesliga title.

57' WHAT A MISS! Volland has to score with an open goal from six yards out. Diaby does brilliantly to leave Davies in his wake down the flank. He sends a cutback to an unmarked Volland in the box. However, the forward takes a fresh air swing with his left boot and fails to make a contact. A horrendous miss.

David Alaba put his side ahead with a fine free-kick that found the top-right corner. Serge Gnabry extended their advantage with a crisp finish past Lukas Hradecky. 22' WHAT A SAVE! Hradecky keeps Leverkusen in the game with a brilliant stop. Gnabry surges to the edge of the box and lines up a strike at goal. His effort travels towards the target before striking Muller on the boot. It wrong foots Hradecky, but he changes direction to get down to make the save.
20' Diaby has space down the right flank, but he fails to send a quality delivery into the box.

7' Wendell clips a cross into the box, but his delivery is headed away by Tapsoba as he fails to work it back towards his team-mates.
6' Goretzka is a fraction overzealous in his challenge with Bailey and gives away a free-kick 30 yards from goal.
5' Leverkusen work the ball well down the right flank, but Diaby sends a loose offload towards Amiri, allowing Boateng to make the interception.
3' OVER! Coman surges down the left flank and digs out a cross into the middle. Lewandowski rises above Sven Bender, but the Pole can only glance his header over the bar.
