La Liga Betting: 250/1 payout as Real Betis stun Barcelona at Camp Nou
Joaquin Barcelona vs Real Betis La Liga 2018-19
The Andalusian side ran out 4-3 winners in Catalonia to cause by far the biggest upset of the weekend and one of the most impressive in recent memory

Barcelona will have had little cause to worry when Real Betis visited Camp Nou on Sunday in La Liga but a 4-3 victory for the visitors kept the title race open.

Instead of opening up a four point gap on Sevilla, Barca are instead just one point ahead after losing their first home game in the league since September 2016 as Betis overcame 12/1 (13.0) pre-match odds.

The defeat was also the first time Barcelona have ever lost a game in which Lionel Messi scored two or more goals, a statistic almost as stunning as bet365’s 250/1 (251.0) pre-match odds on Betis winning 4-3.

Although very few, if any, punters would have wagered on such a high scoring match before kick-off, the X2 Double Chance quote of 7/2 (4.50) may have appealed considering Betis are certainly no pushovers away from home.

The Andalusian outfit had the fifth-best away record last term, beating Real Madrid 1-0 and drawing 0-0 at Atletico, whilst this term they had kept three clean sheets in their five matches prior to Sunday.

This result was by far the most surprising of the weekend and was perhaps more impressive than both Red Star Belgrade’s 2-0 win over Liverpool and Manchester United's 2-1 victory at Juventus in the Champions League just days before.

In Serie A, 7/1 (8.0) shots Parma ended Torino’s six match unbeaten streak with a 2-1 away win on Friday night. Although just three points separated the sides before kick-off, the hosts could not justify being 1/2 (1.50) favourites.

The Premier League saw three surprise draws on Saturday and Sunday as Burnley held Leicester to a 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium at odds of 7/2 (4.50), and bet365 also paid out on the 4/1 (5.0) quote for a stalemate between Chelsea and Everton.

Wolves almost claimed a famous victory at Arsenal on Sunday afternoon but Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s late goal meant the game finished 1-1 at correct score odds of 15/2 (8.50).

Meanwhile in the FA Cup, National League North side Guiseley were 9/2 (5.50) to beat League Two Cambridge United at home and the West Yorkshire side duly obliged with a 4-3 win - a scoreline that paid out at 150/1 (151.0).
