Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Barcelona are next in action against Real Sociedad in LaLiga on Saturday at Camp Nou. United face Everton in the Premier League on Sunday at Goodison Park.
Barcelona ease their way through to the semi-finals of the Champions League with a 3-0 win over Manchester United this evening, taking the tie 4-0 on aggregate. The Catalan club did have an early scare when Marcus Rashford struck the bar in the first minute. However, when Lionel Messi scored a brilliant goal from the edge of the box, Ernesto Valverde's men took command of the game. The Argentine notched a second with the aid of a mistake from David de Gea as he allowed the ball to travel through his grasp. Philippe Coutinho put the game beyond doubt in the second half with a stunner from 20 yards. The Brazilian curled his effort into the top corner, leaving De Gea with no chance. It's not the greatest Barcelona team to reach the last four of the Champions League, but with Messi they are always a contender for the crown. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team have a long way to go before they can challenge the elite teams in Europe once again.
90' + 2' FULL-TIME: BARCELONA 3 (4) - 0 (0) MANCHESTER UNITED
90' + 1' SAVE! Vidal and Suarez combine to set up Messi for an attempt at his hat-trick, but De Gea holds firm between the sticks to divert his strike away from goal.
90' There will be two minutes of added time.
90' SAVE! SANCHEZ IS DENIED! Ter Stegen prevents the forward from notching a goal on his Camp Nou return. Sanchez latched on to Dalot's delivery from the right flank with a diving header. The German appeared to be heading the wrong way, but he stuck out a hand to divert Sanchez's attempt away from goal.
88' OVER! Suarez breaks past the challenges of Fred and McTominay on the edge of the box before trying to chip De Gea. The Uruguayan directs his effort towards the net, but it just sails over the bar.
86' Suarez twists and turns and tries to force a low ball towards Pique in the middle. However, De Gea is able to gather the ball comfortably at his near post.
84' BLOCK! Vidal lines up a strike from the edge of the box, but Jones is able to take the pace off his effort and it trickles away from De Gea to go out for a corner.
83' Dalot takes a poor first touch as he attempts to latch on to Sanchez's ball over the top. He still manages to get an effort away, but Ter Stegen makes the stop. It doesn't matter anyway the flag went up late for offside.
O. Dembélé
Philippe Coutinho
81' Coutinho leaves the field to the applause of the home fans. The Brazilian has struggled to impose himself at times in a Barcelona shirt, but the crowd appreciate his performance and goal tonight as he makes way for Dembele.
A. Sánchez
J. Lingard
80' Sanchez gets an ovation on his return to Camp Nou as he replaces Lingard.
79' OVER! Busquets gives the ball away on the edge of the Barca box. Lingard latches on to the loose ball before striking at goal, but he places his effort just over the bar.
L. Suárez
Yellow Card
77' Suarez goes into the book for dissent. He has complained to the referee one too many times this evening.
76' United have a rare foray forward on the counter and Dalot has space to whip a cross into the box. However, the Portuguese fails to pick out Lukaku in the middle before Lingard loses out after collecting the loose ball. It has been that sort of night for the visitors.
A. Vidal
Arthur
75' Vidal comes on for Arthur for the final 15 minutes of the match.
74' Space opens up for McTominay in the final third and he goes for the blast, but he waits just a second too long to strike his effort at goal, allowing Lenglet to make the block.
R. Lukaku
M. Rashford
73' Lukaku replaces Rashford, who struck the bar in the first minute of the game but was more or less nullified after that.
73' It has been all too easy for Barca in the second half. Worryingly for United, the home side have barely had to break out of second gear.
Nélson Semedo
Sergi Roberto
71' Semedo replaces Sergi Roberto for the home side.
70' Barcelona are in cruise control at the moment. United are chasing shadows in their own half.

66' Messi surges towards the edge of the box and attempts a one-two with Suarez, but the Uruguayan cannot force the ball through a crowd of players.

Philippe Coutinho
Goal
61' WHAT A GOAL!!!!! COUTINHO PUTS THE GAME BEYOND DOUBT!! 3-0 BARCELONA!!!! Coutinho scores a stunner to all but place his side in the semi-finals of the Champions League. He collects an offload 25 yards from goal before advancing to the edge of the box. He gets half a yard on Smalling and it's enough to allow him to strike a perfect ball into the top corner, beating the hand of De Gea.
58' Lindelof has to make a vital interception at the back to stop Messi's throughball from reaching Coutinho in space in the left inside channel. Barca had countered with pace down the right flank before switching the play.
57' Pogba lifts the ball over the top for Rashford's run, but the England man cannot take the ball in stride with his first touch and it travels through to Ter Stegen.
56' Alba clips the ball towards Messi outside of the box, and the Argentine heads the ball over the top of the United line. Smalling and Suarez collide in the box, but the referee is not interested in his appeal for a penalty.
53' Messi curls his delivery towards the near post, but De Gea gathers the ball with ease as the ball sailed over the head of Suarez.
52' McTominay brings down Messi next to the right corner flag. Barcelona have another opportunity to put the visitors under pressure.
51' The visitors hold firm from two Barcelona corners, but their quest to break back into the game continues to be an uphill challenge.
50' Coutinho runs at the heart of the United defence, but Smalling stops his progress with a fine challenge, although he cannot stop the ball heading out for a corner.
47' BLOCK! Messi comes close to a hat-trick as he lines up a strike from inside the box from Suarez's cutback. However, Young is well placed in the middle to divert his shot behind for a corner.
46' We're back underway at Camp Nou.
The Red Devils have had a couple of moments in the game. Marcus Rashford struck the bar with an attempt with the outside of his right boot in the first minute. Scott McTominay then failed to take an offload in stride in the box when almost clear of the last Barcelona defender. Solskjaer's men are going to have to throw everything they have at the home side after the break.
Barcelona are on their way to reaching their semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2015. Two goals from Lionel Messi have put them well and truly in command of the contest, holding an aggregate lead of 3-0 over their opponents. After a bright start from United, Messi calmed the nerves of the home side as he pounced on a mistake from Ashley Young and curled a brilliant strike into the bottom corner. Another United error handed Messi a second goal as his tame right-footed strike burst through the grasp of David de Gea to find the bottom corner. Sergi Roberto came close to a third before the break, but was denied by De Gea. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and company are going to need something special to make a comeback this evening.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: BARCELONA 2-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
45' + 2' SAVE! De Gea comes up with a huge stop to deny Barca a third goal. Messi created space down the left flank, releasing Alba down the channel. He cuts the ball back across the face of goal for Sergi Roberto to strike, but the United keeper gets his body in the way to make a decisive block.
45' There will be a minimum of two minutes of added time.
44' BLOCK! Rashford lines up the strike from the free-kick, but he drills his attempt straight into the wall, allowing Barca to clear the danger with ease.
43' Rakitic brings down Pogba on the charge at the other end of the pitch. United have a shooting opportunity from the free-kick.
42' Messi whips the ball in with pace on his left foot and Rakitic rises to head at goal, but De Gea gets down to make the stop before gathering at the second attempt.
41' Pogba brings down Busquets on the right flank and it hands Barca a free-kick in a decent positon.
40' Rashford breaks into space down the left inside channel and he tries to pick out a team-mate in the middle, but Lenglet reacts ahead of Lingard to clear for the hosts.
39' SAVE! United work the ball around the final third before Pogba takes on a strike from 20 yards, but he sees his effort comfortably saved by Ter Stegen.
37' Frustration gets the better of Pogba as he hacks out at Arthur. The Frenchman is fortunate not to get booked, while the Barca man pleaded with the referee for an advantage.
36' OVER! Messi tries an ambitious strike from distance. Not even he can test De Gea from 35 yards, curling his attempt harmlessly over the bar.
35' Rakitic has his heel clipped by Fred when on the charge in the United half. Barca have a free-kick 35 yards from goal.
33' Suarez attempts to turn the ball around the corner for Coutinho's run. Lindelof keeps the Brazilian at bay, but Suarez scraps on the deck to win back possession for the home side.
31' Messi has scored two goals from outside the box in a Champions League game for the first time since March 2010 vs Stuttgart.
29' Young brings down Messi in the United half. The Argentine is always one step ahead of his man.
28' United are sitting back amid pressure from the Catalan club. If Rashford or McTominay had taken one of those early opportunities then it could have put the pressure on Barca. Now the home side are comfortable and are looking dangerous every time they push forward.
26' OVER! Messi surges into the box to collect Alba's cutback. He controls the ball with his first touch before going for goal with his second, only to place his volley over the bar.
24' Barcelona did look shaky in the eary stages of the contest, but they can now afford to relax in possession.
22' United have to hold their nerve now otherwise this could get out of hand. They've made two poor mistakes in the match and are in danger of crashing out of the Champions League without a fight.

Goal
20' GOALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! MESSI HAS A SECOND!!! BARCELONA 2-0!!! De Gea has a howler between the sticks. The Spaniard allows a trickling strike from Messi on his right foot through his grasp into the bottom corner. De Gea does not make many mistakes, but this one could be costly to his team. Messi surged into space and fired at goal, but he was hardly expecting to score with that attempt. A bonus for the Argentine and Barcelona.
19' Messi has scored at the quarter-final stage of the Champions League for the first time since April 2013 vs PSG, ending a run of 12 games at this stage without a goal (50 shots in those games).
18' This will be a test of United's composure. They had a bright start to the game and put Barca under pressure. They're going to have to take more risks now.

Goal
16' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! MESSI PUTS BARCELONA AHEAD!!! 1-0!!! The Argentine punishes Young for a costly mistake at the back, burying a left-footed strike into the bottom corner. Young loses the ball under pressure at left-back and it travels to Messi on the edge of the box. He drops a shoulder to beat the challenge of Smalling before bending his effort around De Gea into the net. Clinical from Messi.
15' Alba surges down the left flank and he looks for a deep cross towards the back post for Suarez, but Jones is there with a crucial header to clear the danger.
14' Rashford runs at the Barcelona defence and he opens up space for a strike. However, he fails to connect with his effort and Ter Stegen makes a comfortable save.
13' A dropball restarts the game and Suarez's attempt to blast the ball off Smalling fails and he hands United a goal-kick.
11' OVERTURN! The referee has overturned his initial decision as Fred made a clean challenge on Rakitic.
11' The referee has been advised to seek a second look at the incident. It appeared as though Fred got to the ball ahead of the Barcelona midfielder.
10' PENALTY TO BARCELONA! Fred brings down Rakitic as the pair go for a loose ball in the United box. The referee points to the spot.
9' Pogba attempts an ambitious strike from 35 yards, but he sends his attempt well over the bar. United need better from the Frenchman this evening.
7' Martial collects on the left flank and cuts inside to fire a low right-footed effort towards goal. Pique is well placed in front of Ter Stegen and makes the block to clear for the Catalan club.
6' A run from Lingard causes problems for the hosts. It takes three players to block off his charge and even then they aren't sure who is taking control to clear the danger. Eventually Ter Stegen acts to tap the ball out wide towards Alba.
5' Young's corner fails to beat the first man before Pogba sees his clipped pass into the box bounce out harmlessly for a goal-kick.
4' The visitors press by moving the ball across the pitch. Rashford surges towards the byline and wins a corner off the legs of Alba.
2' United find acres of room in the final third and Rashford releases McTominay on the edge of the box. However, the Scot takes a poor first touch and wastes the opening.
1' OFF THE BAR! United open up Barcelona behind as Pogba slides a throughball forward for Rashford. He surges into the left inside channel and goes for the strike with the outside of his boot. Rashford connects well with his effort, but his strike clips the top of the bar and goes over.
1' We're underway at Camp Nou.
Barcelona have never lost a home Champions League match when both Busquets and Messi have started alongside one another (P37 W32 D5 L0).
Barcelona have never lost a home match against Man Utd in European competition (W2 D2), with their last such meeting finishing 0-0 in April 2008.
Solskjaer has made a number of big calls this evening as he makes four changes to his team that beat West Ham United at the weekend. Rashford, Young, Lindelof and McTominay all get the nod to start. Lukaku and Mata are forced to settle for places on the bench alongside Matic and Sanchez. Dalot started the first leg, but he has been ousted in favour of Jones who starts at right-back, while Young is expected to play at left-back as Luke Shaw misses out due to suspension.
Barcelona made numerous changes against Huesca at the weekend from the team that beat United in the first leg. Valverde has rotated his key men back into the fold after resting them for the weekend. The Catalan club have made one change to the team that won the first leg as Sergi Roberto comes into the side to replace Semedo, who drops to the bench. Messi, Suarez and Coutinho play as a three-man attack as Malcom and Dembele await in reserve.

United produced a remarkable comeback in the last round of the competition against Paris Saint-Germain on the road. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will have to emulate their performance from the Parc des Princes to advance to the semi-finals. The Red Devils have been struggling to find their peak form in the league, although they've managed to grind out results. A victory over Barca would further enhance Solskjaer's reputation in the dugout.
Barcelona hold a slender advantage over the Red Devils ahead of the contest after winning the first leg 1-0 courtesy of an own goal from Luke Shaw. Ernesto Valverde's men have the crucial away goal, although they have been vulnerable at this stage in the past. Last term they were on the receiving end of a dramatic comeback from Roma. Therefore they will have to wary of the threat United pose.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the second leg Champions League quarter-final clash between Barcelona and Manchester United at Camp Nou.
