Atletico Madrid hold a 1-0 lead over Real Betis at the break in their LaLiga clash. Yannick Carrasco got the breakthrough for the hosts with a neat turn and finish into the top-left corner. 1' We're under way in this LaLiga clash.
Under Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid have only lost one of their 17 games against Real Betis in LaLiga, while that defeat came away from home - 1-0 in February 2019 (W12 D4).
Pellegrini has opted to alter this line-up despite Betis' impressive win over Valencia during the week. Iglesias drops to the bench even after scoring twice in the victory and is replaced by Willian Jose as the spearhead of the attack. Fekir is also benched in favour of Sanchez, who starts in the final third. Gonzalez comes into the back four in place of Ruiz, while Rodriguez also shifts out of the line-up for Guardado.
Atletico have made three changes to their side from the draw against Levante during the week. Savic returns to the Atletico defence to replace Felipe in the back three. De Paul is restored to the midfield in place of Herrera, who drops to the bench. Joao Felix is also ousted from the line-up as Correa gets the nod to start in the final third alongside Suarez and Griezmann.
REAL BETIS SUBS: Marc Bartra, Victor Ruiz, Nabil Fekir, Borja Iglesias, Cristian Tello, Rui Silva, Joaquin, Diego Lainez, Guido Rodriguez, Aitor Ruibal, Robert, Juan Miranda.
REAL BETIS (4-2-3-1): Claudio Bravo; Martin Montoya, German Pezzella, Edgar Gonzalez, Alex Moreno; William Carvalho, Andres Guardado; Rodrigo Sanchez, Sergio Canales, Juanmi; Willian Jose.
ATLETICO SUBS: Benjamin Lecomte, Joao Felix, Renan Lodi, Hector Herrera, Felipe, Matheus Cunha, Sime Vrsaljko, Carlos Martin.
ATLETICO MADRID (3-4-3): Jan Oblak; Stefan Savic, Jose Gimenez, Mario Hermoso; Kieran Trippier, Koke, Rodrigo de Paul, Yannick Carrasco; Angel Correa, Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann.
Betis enter the contest in prime form, having won their last three league matches on the bounce. Manuel Pellegrini's men hammered Valencia 4-1 in their last outing to move into fourth place in the table. They have proved that they can win in multiple ways, and have a huge incentive this afternoon as a victory would move them level on points with Real Madrid, Sevilla and Sociedad at the LaLiga summit, at least for a short while. It will be a challenge to overcome Los Rojiblancos, therefore Betis need their best effort.
Atletico are struggling for their top form at the moment, enduring a three-match winless run in all competitions. Diego Simeone's men battled back from a two-goal deficit to draw against Real Sociedad last week, but were then held to another 2-2 draw by Levante in midweek, conceding a late goal to Enis Bardhi from the penalty spot. Los Rojiblancos have been famed for their defensive discipline under Simeone, but it has deserted them of late. They need to get back to form this afternoon against Betis.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the LaLiga clash between Atletico Madrid and Real Betis at the Wanda Metropolitano.
