Commentary

Atletico can now look forward to finding out who they get in the Champions League knockout draw next week. Their round of 16 opponents will be one of Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Liverpool and RB Leipzig. They'll fancy their chances against any of them. That's all for now. Goodbye!
Atletico's win means they finish second in Group D and become the last side to qualify for the Champions League round of 16. Juventus top the group after winning 2-0 in Leverkusen. Leverkusen finish third and drop into the Europa League, while Lokomotiv are eliminated from European competition.
Atletico ease to a comfortable victory over a defeatist Lokomotiv Moscow side. A goal in each half from Felix and Felipe allowed Atletico to breeze to the win in the end, although they were slightly frustrated early on by Trippier's penalty miss. No top side will want to play them in the round of 16.
90' + 3' FULL TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 2-0 LOKOMOTIV MOSCOW
90' + 2' Rybus nods the ball down to Zhemaletdinov whose shot from range cannons off a defender. That looks like it'll be all!
90' + 1' Thomas sets Atletico on the attack through the middle again. Morata busts a gut to cut the ball back from the byline but Lemar is oddly late to recognise that he can get into the box and score. Lokomotiv scramble it away.
90' There will be three added minutes to finish this game off.
89' Oblak misjudges Trippier's position when distributing out wide, handing Lokomotiv a throw. Lokomotiv quickly lose possession and Thomas drives Atletico forward, getting a throw on the opposite side. The Ghanaian's been an energetic influence in Atletico's midfield.
87' Llorente's shot from outside the box is blocked. Atletico have had 22 shots to Lokomotiv's two all game. This really hasn't been much of a contest.
85' Thomas is desperate for a goal. This effort is his best yet, a venomous effort from range that flashes just wide into the advertising hoarding.
83' This game's clearly winding down slightly, not that it's ever set the pulse racing. Lokomotiv haven't offered much more threat than they did in the first half.
Llorente
João Félix
81' Atletico substitution. Felix's game is over. Llorento replaces him.
80' Lokomotiv are still making token efforts to attack. Zhemaletdinov gets forward but commits handball under little pressure. Lemar rushes forward and fizzes a shot wide from outside the box.
79' Felix picks the ball up on the left-hand side, darts inside and gets the return pass from Thomas. His shot is always rising though.
78' Juventus are now leading 1-0 at home against Bayer Leverkusen. That means that Atletico no longer need the win to finish second in the group as things stand. Not that they're grumbling.
77' The left-footed Saul jinks into the box from a right and has a crack only to hit a Lokomotiv defender. Thomas can't resist having a go himself and blazes over.
F. Smolov
Éder
75' Lokomotiv substitution. Eder off. He's had a thankless task in this match. Smolov on.
75' Lemar has gone to his usual left wing position while Saul has switched to the right.
T. Lemar
Koke
73' Koke's work for Atletico is done for now. Lemar comes on for him.
72' Chance for Atletico! Atletico take the corner short and Morata heads over the bar from Herrera's delivery. That was a good opportunity and he knows it.
71' Rybus almost has an opportunity to shoot but elects to pass backwards, landing Lokomotiv in trouble. Atletico burst upfield behind him and win a corner.
S. Magkeev
V. Ćorluka
69' It's a sad sight as Corluka is carried off the pitch to warm applause. Magkeev replaces him in defence for Lokomotiv.
69' Correa's challenge looks to have injured Corluka badly. Lokomotiv's captain will have to be taken off on a stretcher for treatment.
H. Herrera
Á. Correa
68' That's Correa's last contribution to the game. Herrera replaces him for Atletico.
Á. Correa
Yellow Card
67' Thomas slides Correa into the box after some nifty footwork from Felix. Correa miscontrols and ends up chopping down Corluka and earning himself a yellow card.
65' Morata gets his head down and goes for glory, ignoring Felix's clever diagonal run. Howedes arrives on the scene and clatters into the striker, winning the ball in the process.
64' Lokomotiv's possession doesn't last long. The visitors are trying to get their wing-backs higher upfield now at least.
62' Atletico go on the attack again. Eder comes back to defend and wins a foul off Thomas. Lokomotiv can enjoy a little spell on the ball.
60' Atletico win a free-kick down their right as Corluka fouls Morata. Lokomotiv manage to clear it away though.
58' Correa cuts across goal to get into the box and sends himself flying to the turf. The referee isn't interested.
56' Lokomotiv suddenly wake up, pinning Atletico near their own corner flag. Eder has a shot blocked. It doesn't last long though as Trippier fires a low cross across goal. Correa gets on the end of it but fires wide.
Koke
Assist
54' That was a delicious ball into the box by Koke which deserved a goal. Atletico really should have done enough now. Lokomotiv has shown no signs of making a comeback even when it was 1-0.
Felipe
Goal
54' GOAL! 2-0 ATLETICO! Atletico can relax now. Trippier wins his side yet another corner down the right. The full-back takes the corner short to Koke who lofts the ball towards the near post and Felipe lashes it in on the volley!
52' Thomas bursts through a pack of Lokomotiv players in midfield and has options either side of him. In the end, he makes the wrong option in shooting and it's blocked.
50' Atletico go on the attack again but put the ball out of play as Morata has taken a whack in the face from Krychowiak. No foul. Lokomotiv sportingly return it shortly after.
48' Atletico win another corner through Trippier. Trippier takes the corner and Lokomotiv can't quite clear until Thomas pulls Zhemaletdinov to the turf. Lokomotiv free-kick.
46' Atletico start the second half as they ended the first. Felix dinks a lovely ball over the top for Saul who's drifted into the box. Saul connects with it but can't quite put his laces through it as he wants to do so it bounces wide.
45' The second half gets underway. No changes at half-time to report.
There's very little chance of Atletico blowing this from here. Since Simeone took charge of Atletico for the first time in the Champions League in September 2013, they've kept 23 clean sheets in 32 home games – more than any other team in the competition. A second goal would be nice for them though. Will Atletico score again, or will Lokomotiv up their game?
Atletico go in at half-time with the vital lead they need. It hasn't come that easily though, as Trippier missed an early penalty for Atletico before Felix made amends from the spot minutes later. Morata had a second ruled out for offside. Atletico are comfortably on top but need another goal in the second half to feel truly comfortable. Lokomotiv has only really defended.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 1-0 LOKOMOTIV MOSCOW
45' + 2' Lodi heads toward goal from the left touchline but finds his path blocked by Lokomotiv defenders. Atletico keep the ball and that's that for now.
45' + 1' Atletico take a free-kick quickly from deep in their midfield and the flag goes up against Trippier for offside.
45' Lokomotiv make a rare foray forward down their right. Idowu can't keep his cross in play though and Oblak gets to enjoy a nice touch of the ball for the goal-kick. Two added minutes of this for now.
43' Atletico have been dominant in this first half in their typically soul-destroying way but they haven't gotten that crucial second goal so far.
G. Krychowiak
Yellow Card
42' Krychowiak is next to land himself with a yellow card as the referee deems him to have fouled Thomas. The Pole disagrees and he's booked for dissent.
Murilo
Yellow Card
40' Cerqueira earns himself a booking for catching Felix with a trailing arm.
39' Trippier's cross from the right goes for an Atletico corner. Koke picks up the pieces and finds Morata in the box. He heads straight at Kochenkov but he's offside anyway.
37' Lokomotiv's defenders back off, compelling Felix to dribble straight towards goal. The Portuguese striker cuts in on his right foot and fizzes an effort into the side netting.
36' Felix has a shot from outside the box saved in the centre of the goal by Kochenkov. The keeper can't keep hold of it but gathers it at the second attempt.
35' Rybus gets Lokomotiv's first shot of the game, a rather routine effort that's straight at Oblak. No problems for the Atletico keeper there.
33' Atletico have had eight shots and four on target to Lokomotiv's zero so far. This game is one-way traffic.
31' Lokomotiv deal with the corner fairly comfortably as Correa's shot is blocked. Lokomotiv's attacking ambition has been pretty much non-existent.
29' Idowu's clearing header from a high ball is poor and lands to Thomas who lets rip from the edge of the box. Kochenkov leaps high to his right to save it! It'll be an Atletico corner.
27' NO GOAL! Yep, Morata's goal is disallowed. The striker was just offside as he reached the ball. You sense Atletico won't have to wait long for another scoring chance.
26' GOAL! 2-0 ATLETICO! Morata gets onto a lovely ball by Correa into the centre of the box and pokes the ball past Kochenkov! Hang on, it's been checked for offside...
25' Trippier looks to get onto a throughball from just outside the box but Kochenkov is alive to the danger. Lokomotiv are hanging on at the moment.
23' The game's getting bitty now as play stop-starts due to several fouls in midfield. Atletico won't mind, of course. They're doing their job.
21' Morata latches onto Saul's short pass into the area and fires way over the crossbar. Lokomotiv have had little attacking threat at all.
19' Atletico's early dominance is starting to bear fruit now. Lodi twists his way into the left side of the box and unleashes a powerful shot straight at Kochenkov. The keeper catches it.
João Félix
Penalty Goal
17' GOAL! 1-0 ATLETICO! Felix makes no mistake from the spot, sticking the ball into the bottom left corner. Kochenkov doesn't even move.
16' ATLETICO GET ANOTHER PENALTY! The referee points to the spot and Atletico can't believe their luck! Trippier begs to make amends but it's Felix who'll take this one...
15' The referee has been advised to go and have a look at a potential handball by Zhemaletdinov as he blocked an Atletico cross. He does so and...
14' Trippier bursts forward to get into the box but the Englishman puts too much power on his pass to Morata and the chance is gone.
12' Felix has his own effort blocked after he receives the ball from Thomas. Lokomotiv are mostly stuck inside their own half.
10' Atletico are on top but aren't creating much yet. Morata rattles a shot against a Lokomotiv defender from outside the box.
9' Miranchuk curls in the free-kick and Oblak is out to claim it. An easy grab for the Atletico keeper.
8' Cerqueira looks to latch onto a cross into the box for Lokomotiv but the Brazilian can't make anything of it. Eder wins a free-kick off Lodi shortly after.
6' Atletico are very much controlling the game. Felix beats a few challenges to burst into the box but can't find the right pass to Saul.
4' What an early chance that was for Atletico to set the tone of the match. They won't worry though - they still have plenty of time to score.
A. Kochenkov
Penalty Save
2' Kochenkov didn't really have a save to make but he'll be relieved that didn't go past him. It wouldn't have been the start Lokomotiv would have wanted.
K. Trippier
Penalty Miss
2' ATLETICO MISS THE PENALTY! Trippier steps up to take the kick but crashes his effort against the left-hand post! Lokomotiv survive for now.
2' PENALTY TO ATLETICO! Well, that didn't take long! Felix draws a foul in the penalty area as Kochenkov unwisely slides in and brings his opponent down. Atletico get the opportunity to grab an early lead.
1' And we're off!
The two sides are out on the Wanda Metropolitano pitch. Atletico are wearing their traditional red and white shirts. Lokomotiv are in their green away jerseys.
This shouldn't be a huge test for Atletico - they've won three of their four previous meetings with Lokomotiv, drawing the other 3-3 in the 2007-08 UEFA Cup group stage. Lokomotiv have also never won a game away to Spanish opposition in European competition. Stranger things have happened though, right?
Simeone makes two changes to the Atletico side that drew 0-0 with Villarreal last weekend as Trippier and Correa come in. There are three changes to the Lokomotiv team that went down 4-0 to Arsenal Tula last time out as they switch to a 5-4-1 formation. Zhemaletdinov, Kvirkvelia and Idowu start.
SUBS: Nikita Medvedev, Dmitry Zhivoglyadov, Roman Tugarev, Daniil Kulikov, Anton Miranchuk, Fedor Smolov, Stanislav Magkeev.
LOKOMOTIV MOSCOW (5-4-1): Anton Kochenkov; Brian Idowu, Solomon Kvirkvelia, Benedikt Howedes, Vedran Corluka (c), Maciej Rybus; Murilo Cerqueira, Rifat Zhemaletdinov, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Aleksey Miranchuk; Eder.
SUBS: Hector Herrera, Antonio Adan, Thomas Lemar, Marcos Llorente, Jose Gimenez, Santiago Arias, Ivan Saponjic.
ATLETICO MADRID (4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Kieran Trippier, Mario Hermoso, Felipe, Renan Lodi; Angel Correa, Saul Niguez, Thomas Partey, Koke (c); Alvaro Morata, Joao Felix.
Lokomotiv Moscow have already been eliminated from European competition and have nothing to play for except pride. However, Bayer Leverkusen can still pip Atletico to qualification here if they win at home to Juventus and Lokomotiv get a result. Let's find out what happens, shall we?
Atletico’s task in this game is simple – win and they go through to the round of 16. Diego Simeone’s men have been in mixed form lately, slipping out of the La Liga top four and handing Juventus first place in Group D, but Simeone’s notoriously stingy side should still have enough about them to secure their progress and cause the best teams problems in the knockout rounds.
