That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
City will now turn their attentions to the EFL Cup final on Sunday against Tottenham, whilst Villa face West Brom in the Premier League at the weekend.
Manchester City come from behind to extend their lead at the top of the table to 11 points, after a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa, with all the goals coming in the first half. McGinn caught them out early on, but Foden hit back and Rodri then fired them ahead. Both teams ended the game with 10-men, after Stones was sent off for City just before the break and then Cash was shown two yellow cards in quick succession for Villa early in the second period. City are now just three wins away from clinching the title.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: ASTON VILLA 1-2 MANCHESTER CITY
90' + 2' It looks like City will be getting back to winning ways with just a minute or so remaining on the clock, after back-to-back defeats in the league and cup.
90' There will be a minimum of three minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
Fernandinho
R. Mahrez
90' Late change here for City, with Mahrez replaced by Fernandinho.
89' City just seem to be comfortably managing the game out now, Villa aren't threatening in attack at all and haven't since the red card.
87' There are a few tired players out there on the pitch now, due to being a man down. City will be without Stones for the EFL Cup final at the weekend due to his sending off.
85' Almost! Lovely move by City, with Walker racing forward and he lays it through to Mahrez, who tries to feed Foden at the far post. However, Konsa gets across brilliantly and clears it behind. Otherwise Foden would have had a tap in.
84' During Guardiola's managerial career, no player has scored more goals before the age of 21 than Foden (29, level with Bojan)
82' City are camped inside the Villa half of the pitch at the moment, they look very comfortable, with the hosts getting everyone back behind the ball. We haven't seen any chances at either end for a while.
80' There's only 10 minutes, plus any stoppage time left to play here. Can Villa push on and get a late equaliser? Or, will City wrap up the win with a third goal?
78' Foden has been the best player on the pitch today, he has been superb, constantly on the ball and creating things for City. He has been fouled a lot as well, with Villa doing anything to try and stop him.
76' Not too far away! Gundogan steps up to take a free-kick from around 30 yards out. It flies up and over the Villa wall, but he gets too much on it and it flies over the crossbar.
A. El Ghazi
Bertrand Traoré
75' Another Villa change now, with Traore then man coming off and he has been replaced by El Ghazi.
75' Blocked! Really good defending by Mings, after Mahrez cuts in from the right wing and tries to fire an effort towards goal. However, the centre-back gets across well and makes the block to clear the danger.
73' It looks like it is going to take something special to break through this City defence again today, they look very comfortable and Villa just can't get it into the final third to test Ederson.
71' Villa can't seem to get on the ball at the moment, City look very comfortable with it in midfield, not pushing forward in search of a third goal. Just managing the game.
69' Villa have lost 11 of their last 13 Premier League meetings with Man City (W1 D1), with their only victory during this period coming in September 2013 (3-2).
67' Good cross into the box from the left by Barkley, which Konsa just manages to get his head to, but he doesn't make the best contact and it flies well wide of the City goal.
65' The pace of the game has dropped slightly since the Villa red card, with neither team able to control possession and get up the pitch. City still look the more likely to score again at the moment.
R. Barkley
M. Nakamba
63' Here is the Villa substitution, with Nakamba the man coming off and he has been replaced in midfield by Barkley.
61' It looks like Barkley is getting ready to come on for Villa, he has been warming up on the sidelines and should be entering the game shortly.
59' The sending off is a huge blow for Villa, they will have been confident of pushing forward and getting an equaliser with the man advantage, but now it is all square. The hosts may need to make another change as well to cover the right-back position.
57' RED CARD! Cash has been shown a second yellow card for his rash challenge on Foden, just a couple of minutes after his initial booking. The referee showed no hesitation in showing him another and sending the right-back off. Both teams are now a man down.
56' Cash could be in trouble here! He has only just been booked and he dives into a challenge with Foden, sliding in and catching the City man late. Both teams might be down to 10-men now.
M. Cash
Yellow Card
54' Cash is the first Villa player to be booked after he drags Foden to the ground, stopping him from breaking into the final third.
53' Villa are the first team to score in the opening minute of a Premier League game and go in at HT behind since Bournemouth in October 2015 vs Spurs.
51' Decent effort! Poor play by Zinchenko, as he ducks under a cross and Traore picks it up, cuts inside and then lays it off to Douglas Luiz on the edge of the box. The midfielder tries to curl it into the top right corner of the net, but it doesn't have enough pace on it and Ederson gets across and makes a comfortable save.
50' Good move! Gundogan does well down the left, he breaks forward and gets to the byline, then tries to find Mahrez in the six-yard box. However, Martinez gets down quickly and makes an excellent block with his feet.
48' It looks like Foden is going to be the main man up front for City now that Jesus has come off, with Mahrez the closest man to him.
46' The second half is under way!
A. Laporte
Gabriel Jesus
46' City have also made a substitution ahead of the second half, with Jesus the man coming off and he has been replaced by Laporte.
K. Davis
J. Ramsey
46' Villa have made a tactical change at the break, with Ramsey replaced by Davis.
It will be interesting to see how City react to being a player down, they've dominated possession, but Villa now have the advantage and will be pushing forward search of an equaliser.
It has been an action-packed first half at Villa Park, with the hosts taking the lead after just 20 seconds through McGinn. However, City rallied and equalised through Foden, before Rodri headed them in front just before the break. It looked like City were in control, but Stones dived into a challenge with Ramsey and caught the winger high and late, which saw him receive a straight red card after a VAR review, leaving City down to 10-men.
45' + 4' HALF-TIME: ASTON VILLA 1-2 MANCHESTER CITY
45' + 2' City have been getting Laporte ready on the sidelines, but it looks like they are now going to wait until half-time to make that change, with Rodri dropping in at centre-back for now.
45' There will be a minimum of four minutes added time played at the end of the first half.
45' Guardiola is furious with the red card decision, he is getting very animated on the sidelines with the fourth official. However, after looking at the replay, there can't be any complaints.
J. Stones
Red Card
44' RED CARD! The decision has been overturned and Stones has now been shown a straight red card! The centre-back dived into a challenge with Ramsey, catching the Villa man high and late on the halfway line. The referee went over to take a look at the video replay and changed his mind, overruling the yellow and changing it to a red.
İ. Gündoğan
Yellow Card
42' Gundogan has been also booked for City, after he argues the red card decision and puts a hand on the referee.
42' VAR are taking a look at a challenge by Stones on Ramsey, after the centre-back dives into the challenge on the halfway line and catches the winger high on the leg with his studs up. The Villa man gets to the ball first and flicks it past him. The referee has given a free-kick and yellow card at the moment, but VAR will take a look to see if it needs to be changed to a straight red.
Bernardo Silva
Assist
40' Bernardo Silva with another assist, he gets past Mahrez down the right and then delivers a good cross into the penalty area, which Rodri heads home.
Rodri
Goal
40' GOOOAAALLL! City have turned it around and Rodri fires the 2-1 ahead! Villa fail to clear the danger from a corner and they work it out wide to Bernardo Silva down the right, who chips the ball into the box and Rodri rises above his marker to glance it into the back of the net. Martinez comes off his line to try and gather, but mistimes it and Rodri gets to it first, so the ball flies into an empty net.
38' Into the wall! Mahrez steps up to take a free-kick on the edge of box and he tries to find the top left corner of the net. However, the Villa wall do well and clear it behind for a corner.
36' Free-kick to City in a dangerous position right on the edge of the box, after Zinchenko intercepts a Douglas Luiz pass and races towards goal. Just as he goes to shoot, Ramsey dives in and catches him from behind. At first the referee didn't seem to want to give a free-kick, but gave it at the last moment.
34' City have dominated the possession and passing charts, but Villa are defending well, not allowing them much time or space inside their final third to test Martinez.
32' Stoppage in play here as Martinez takes a knock to the head after coming out to gather a cross and he is clattered into by Cash. However, he will be fine to continue.
30' Only Kevin De Bruyne (24) has been directly involved in more goals in all competitions for Man City this season than Foden (23 - 14 goals, 9 assists).
28' Into the side netting! Ederson slips as he takes a goal-kick and it falls straight to Douglas Luiz, who plays it out to Ramsey and he takes on Walker, but can only power his effort into the side of the net.
26' Penalty shout! Bernardo Silva once again gets forward down the right wing, with Mahrez lays it off to him and he tries to get a cross into the box, but Mings gets to the ball first. However, the two get a bit tangled up and it perhaps hits the hand of Mings, but completely by accident. Nothing given.
24' City look content now, they are back in the game and will be pushing forward in search of another before the break. Villa look strong at the back, but just haven't been able to get on the ball and up the pitch recently.
Bernardo Silva
Assist
22' It's a lovely team goal by City, with five players involved, including the keeper, who set up the initial attack with a long ball from the back. Bernardo Silva sprinted past Mahrez down the right and picked Foden out brilliantly, who made no mistakes with the finish.
P. Foden
Goal
22' GOOOAAALLL! Foden fires City back into the game and equalises to make it 1-1! It comes after a fantastic long ball from the back by Ederson to Zinchenko, who heads it down to Foden, he then crosses to Mahrez down the left. The winger flicks it to Bernardo Silva on the overlap and he pulls it back from the byline to Foden who continued his run into the box and he slots it into the back of the net.
20' SAVE! A City corner is headed to the edge of the box, but it falls to Mahrez, who cuts inside onto his left foot and fires a low shot towards the bottom left corner of the net. However, Martinez gets down quickly and makes a brilliant save, getting a strong hand to it, before gathering the rebound in the nick of time.
19' Despite all of their dominance in the last 10 minutes or so, City are yet to fashion a chance or test Martinez, who is yet to make a save.
17' Blocked! Gundogan fires an effort towards goal from the edge of the box, but it is too close to Mings, who makes a good block and Villa then clear the danger.
15' City are yet to get into their rhythm at the moment, Villa are doing a good job of keeping them at bay. Rodri has just whipped a deep ball into the box looking for Jesus, but Martinez reads it well and easily gathers.
13' The visitors are keeping the ball well inside the Villa half at the moment, with the hosts having to get everyone back behind the ball to soak up the pressure. No chances for them as of yet though.
11' McGinn's goal is the second fastest Premier League goal Aston Villa have scored after Dwight York (vs Coventry) in September 1995 (12 seconds).
9' McGinn loses the ball in a dangerous position and it allows Jesus to break forward, but luckily for the Villa midfielder, they get enough players back to halt the attack.
7' Another blocked effort! This time Watkins gets on the ball on the edge of the penalty area and he tries to work space for a shot, but Stones gets across and blocks his effort, which takes the pace out of it and Ederson easily gathers.
5' Blocked! City look nervous at the back and Villa look keen to double their lead early on. A cross comes into the box from the right wing and falls to Douglas Luiz at the back post, he fires a shot towards goal on the volley. However, Walker gets across well and makes the block, before Ederson gathers.
3' City are just starting to get into their passing game now, settling the game now and they are currently camped inside the Villa half of the pitch trying to find an equaliser as soon as possible.
O. Watkins
Assist
1' The hosts showed intent to get forward straight away from kick-off and they caught City out at the back, who weren't concentrating and Watkins manages to find McGinn unmarked in the box.
J. McGinn
Goal
1' GOOOAAALLL! Villa take the lead after just 20 seconds! What a start by the hosts, they are 1-0 up! It comes from a long ball over the top from deep by Mings, which finds Watkins down the left wing after Stones misses his clearance and he immediately plays it across the box to McGinn, who races into the end of it, beating Zinchenko and he fires it into the bottom right corner of the net.
