Commentary

For City, the defeat goes down as a huge disappointment. They were the better of the two sides in the first half but struggled after the break, despite hitting the woodwork twice. They lacked firepower and creativity after the removal of Aguero and struggled with set-pieces, which would eventually prove to be their undoing.
The referee blows his whistle for the last time and sends Arsenal into the final of the FA Cup for the third time in four years! The Gunners certainly deserve to be in it after performing incredibly well from the second half onwards, and they defended admirably to keep City at bay after taking the lead through Sanchez.
FULL-TIME: ARSENAL 2-1 MANCHESTER CITY
120' + 1' City are presented with one final opportunity to thump the ball forward as they try to carve out a late chance on goal, but they're unable to do so as Gabriel rises high to meet the ball with his head. That should be that for Arsenal.

N. Otamendi

113' Navas and De Bruyne link up well deep down the right wing before the Belgian tries to weave his way into the penalty area, but, once again, he's closed down quickly by a group of Arsenal players and fails to get the better of them.
111' And then Iheanacho goes close! The resulting corner is curled into the heart of the penalty area and finds Iheanacho, but the striker rises slightly too early and sends his downward header well wide of the goal.
110' What an opportunity for Delph! De Bruyne plays an important role in another impressive attacking move before teeing up Delph, who quickly shoots but has his effort blocked at the vital moment by Bellerin.
109' Toure steps up and shoots from the set-piece, but his low strike fails to trouble Cech and instead flies into the wall of Arsenal players camped just in front of him.
108' De Bruyne and Iheanacho link up really well just outside of the Arsenal penalty area, but the latter is unable to penetrate the box and the ball rolls over to Clichy. The Frenchman is then charged into by Bellerin, resulting in a free-kick for City in an extremely dangerous position.
K. Iheanacho
R. Sterling
106' Kelechi Iheanacho has come on to take the place of Sterling in Pep Guardiola's final roll of the dice.
106' We're underway once again!
Arsenal have continued to impress, as they did in the second half of normal time, and they deservedly lead thanks to a great finish from Sanchez. City have really struggled to carve out many chances, with Aguero's removal really hurting them.
HALF-TIME: ARSENAL 2-1 MANCHESTER CITY

A. Sánchez

F. Delph
S. Agüero
99' Aguero moves a bit gingerly as he makes his way off the pitch to be replaced by Fabian Delph. It looks as if De Bruyne is going to operate as a false nine for the rest of the game.
Fernando
Fernandinho
99' Substitution Fernando Luiz Rosa Fernando Francisco Reges
97' Big chance for Holding! The resulting set-piece curls into the middle of the box and picks out Holding, who rises high but can only send his bullet header flying over the top of the crossbar.

95' Oxlade-Chamberlain does well to get himself into a promising position over on the right wing before curling a dangerous cross into the middle of the box. It flies over to Ramsey and looks set to find the midfielder, but the ball fizzes just past the Welshman.
93' A clever through-ball is side-footed into the left-hand side of the Arsenal penalty area and over to Sane, who is quickly closed down by Monreal and can't get the better of the full-back.
91' Extra-time is underway!
Arsenal performed much better during the first half than did before the break, and they certainly deserved such a well-worked equaliser. City will feel incredibly frustrated at not being able to score again though, as they twice went close only to be denied by the woodwork.
The referee blows his whistle and brings an end to normal time, sending what has been an exciting contest into extra-time.
90' + 2' City keep pushing forward as they desperately try to find a late winner. Once again, Sane plays an important role in the move, but he's closed down well by a sea of Arsenal defenders and can't whip a cross into the penalty area.

K. De Bruyne
Yellow Card
89' De Bruyne hacks Sanchez to the ground as the Chilean darts down the left wing, resulting in a free-kick for Arsenal and a yellow card for the Belgian.
88' Toure, who has impressed in the second half since pushing slightly further forward, weaves his way into the penalty area before trying to take on Gabriel, who stands tall and denies the Ivorian a way through on goal.
86' Welbeck goes inches away from scoring! The substitute easily beats Otamendi deep down the right flank before flying into the box and shooting, but his effort fizzes just wide of the far post.

O. Giroud
83' Arsenal have made their first substitution of the afternoon, with Giroud making way for Danny Welbeck.
83' Fernandinho hits the crossbar! The resulting corner swings into the box and right on to the head of Fernandinho, whose bullet header beats Cech before ricocheting off the woodwork.
82' Excellent tackle by Gabriel! De Bruyne pokes a clever pass into the Arsenal penalty area and towards Sane at the near post, but Gabriel dispossesses the German before he can get a shot away.
81' Huge chance for Ozil! A City attack breaks down and allows the German to dart into the right-hand side of the box on an excellent run. He looks set to go one-on-one with Bravo, but he takes on touch too many and is dispossessed before he can shoot.
79' Toure hits the post! The Ivorian links up with Sterling once again before unleashing a rocket of a volley from 25 yards out. It looks set to find the back of the net, but Cech pulls off a fingertip save to push the effort on to the woodwork.
77' More good play by City sets them up with a good opportunity to fire a cross into the penalty area, but De Bruyne is unable to do so from the left wing and loses out to a group of Arsenal defenders camped just in front of him.
75' Sterling and Toure link up really well in the middle of the pitch before the latter pokes a pass into the path of Aguero. It's overhit though and fails to find the Argentine before rolling safely into the hands of Cech.
73' A well-placed cross-field pass flies over to the left-hand side of the Arsenal penalty area and picks out Sane, but the German's cross into the heart of the box fails to find a team-mate and bounces out for a throw-in.
A. Oxlade-Chamberlain
Assist
71' Oxlade-Chamberlain did wonderfully well to pick out Monreal with a really well placed ball into the back. He's pushed further forward since the break and has been far more effective as a result.
Nacho Monreal
Goal
71' GOAL! Arsenal are back in the game! Oxlade-Chamberlain gets himself into a good position deep down the right wing once again before curling a cross over to the far post. It flies over a group of City defenders before finding Monreal, who brilliantly rifles a low shot into the back of the net from close range.
70' Monreal gets himself into a good position deep down the left wing before winning a corner for his side. They're unable to make it count though, as the cross towards the far post is slightly overhit and fails to find a red and white shirt.
Fernandinho
Yellow Card
69' Fernandinho commits a clumsy challenge on the halfway line and becomes the latest player to receive a yellow card as a result.
68' Another half-hearted attempted Arsenal attack comes to a disappointing end, but City are unable to push forward on another counter-attack due to a clumsy challenge on Sane by Gabriel.
66' Aguero's goal seems to have had a negative impact on Arsenal's creative play, which has dried up since they went behind. They're not moving the ball around with anywhere near as much purpose and desire as they were at the start of the second half.
64' Ozil almost equalises! Arsenal respond well to going behind as they quickly push forward, but Ozil, after doing well to spin round his marker, fires a curling strike just wide of the far post.
Y. Touré
Assist
62' That was a lovely pass from Toure, who put the perfect amount of weight on the ball forward. Nonetheless, Arsenal were caught on the break once again and didn't do enough to deal with the danger after losing possession.
S. Agüero
Goal
62' GOAL! City have taken the lead! Ramsey is dispossessed just outside of the City penalty area and allows Toure to break forward quickly. The Ivorian charges forward before launching a wonderful lofted pass up to Aguero, who darts into the box and lifts a delightful chip over the onrushing Cech.
61' Chance for Giroud! Monreal bursts into the left-hand side of the City box before sending a deflected pass over to Giroud, who immediately unleashes a low shot that deflects out for a corner.
60' Navas is dispossessed by Monreal deep down the right wing, allowing Arsenal to counter quickly. They're unable to do so though, as Fernandinho barges into Sanchez and concedes a tactical foul.
58' Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is finding more joy in advanced areas than he did in the first half, whips a delightfull ball into the box. It looks set to find Giroud in front of goal, but Otamendi sticks out a foot to stop it from reaching the Frenchman.
57' Otamendi and Ramsey clash midway inside the Arsenal half of the pitch, resulting in a free-kick for City in a promising position. It's sent short over to Sane, who then cuts a clever pass back to Sterling, but the latter's shot with the outside of his foot is closed down quickly.
55' Almost a costly mistake by Bravo! The goalkeeper, who almost always looks nervy with the ball at his feet, is closed down quickly and slips under pressure, but just as it looks as if he's about to gift Arsenal with an easy goal, he's just about able to clear the danger.
53' Sanchez showcases wonderful skills deep down the left wing before being clumsily fouled by Fernandinho, who concedes a free-kick in a very dangerous position. The Chilean sends it short and finds Xhaka, but the midfielder's first-time, side-footed shot is underhit and fails to trouble Bravo.
52' A deflected Oxlade-Chamberlain cross is just about dealt with by City, who nervously clear the ball out for a corner that Bravo does well to punch away from the head of Giroud.
50' Great chance for Otamendi! Rob Holding picks up a loose ball on the edge of his own box and tries to clear it for a throw-in, but it's mishit and instead sails out for a corner. The set-piece is curled in by De Bruyne and finds Otamendi, who then sends his downward header just wide of the near post.
48' A swinging cross is fired into the City penalty area and finds Giroud, whose downwards header towards two team-mates is cleared out for a corner by Navas. Arsenal are unable to make the set-piece count, however, as it's easily dealt with by Kompany.
46' We're underway once again!
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
City have looked the better of the two sides and have enjoyed the vast majority of possession, but, so far, they have nothing to show for their efforts. Despite being on the back foot, Arsenal have been presented with a few decent chances of their own, and they look set up to hit their opponents on the break with long balls forward. The City defence haven't looked entirely comfortably when trying to deal with them, and that could continue to be a problem in the second half.
HALF-TIME: ARSENAL 0-0 MANCHESTER CITY
45' + 1' It's been quite a stop-start game so far, and once again a free-kick is given after Koscielny brings down De Bruyne just outside of the penalty area over on the right flank. The Belgian's ball into the box is a poor one and fails to beat the one-man wall camped just in front of him.
45' The fourth official has indicated that there will be just one minute of added time.
44' Arsenal come back once again as they continue enjoying themselves inside the City half of the pitch, and Monreal does well to win his side yet another free-kick. This time, Oxlade-Chamberlain's cross is sent deep and over to Sanchez, who goes down whilst battling with Navas and appeals for a penalty that isn't given.
42' Ramsey is caught in the air by Otamendi, resulting in another free-kick for Arsenal midway inside the City half of the pitch. It's fired into the heart of the box and looks to deflect off a City defender's head, but the referee ignores the Arsenal players' pleas for a corner and instead awards a free-kick.
40' City score, but this time it's they who have a goal ruled out! Sane skips into the penalty area on a great run before curling a deft cross over to Aguero. The Argentine meets it well and fires his first-time half-volley over the line, but the ball looked to have crossed the line before meeting the striker and the linesman's quickly rules out the goal.
39' Kompany is all over Giroud and drags the striker to the ground, presenting Arsenal with a great opportunity to lift the ball into the City box from a free-kick. It curls over to the far post and finds Koscielny, who meets the ball with his head but is flagged offside as soon as he makes contact.
38' Aguero hits the side-netting! Sterling does well over on the right once again as he spins round his marker. He then pokes the ball over to Aguero, who quickly uneashes a shot, but the striker's low effort flies into the side of the net.
37' A chipped De Bruyne cross is well defended but not cleared far enough, allowing City to come back once again. They work the ball around quickly before Navas slips into the box, but the Spaniard is a few yards offside and the linesman's flag is quickly raised.
36' After a difficult period on the back foot, Arsenal try to find some attacking joy deep down the right wing. Oxlade-Chamberlain initially does well to get forward before taking on Clichy, but he fouls the Frenchman from behind and gives away a free-kick just outside of the City box.
34' The game gets underway once again as Aguero limps back on to the pitch. The free-kick is quickly fired forward and into the path of Sterling, who had made a good run into the penalty area, but he's unable to reach the ball and loses out to Koscielny.
33' City cause plenty of problems for the under-pressure Arsenal defence once again, and this time it's Koscielny who gives away a free-kick with a knee in Aguero's back. The striker looks to be in a lot of pain as he receives medical treatment on the pitch.
31' The corner is also sent short as they try to take Arsenal by surprise, but the set-piece doesn't work at all well and they're forced into working the ball all the way back to the halfway line.
30' Sane cuts inside from the left wing and embarks on a great run towards the box before being pulled back by Aaron Ramsey, resulting in a free-kick for City in an advantageous position. It's sent short and worked over to Sane, but he can't get the better of Oxlade-Chamberlain and has to settle for a corner.
28' Aguero goes down inside the penalty area, but nothing is given! The Argentine picks up the ball with his back to goal and spins quickly before going down under a tackle from Oxlade-Chamberlain. He immediately screams for a penalty, but the referee isn't at all interested and waves play on.
26' The resulting free-kick is just about dealt with by the Arsenal defence before Sterling unleashes a rocket of a shot from 25 yards out, but it fails to hit the target and Cech can watch the ball bounce a few yards wide of his right post.
A. Sánchez
Yellow Card
25' Sterling gets involved in the thick of the action straight away as he twists and turns over on the right wing, but he's unable to penetrate the box. The ball rolls out to Fernandinho and is almost fired into the penalty area, but, before he's able to do so, the Brazilian is caught by a clumsy sliding challenge from Sanchez, earning the Chilean a yellow card.
R. Sterling
David Silva
23' Silva has been struggling since receiving a knock from Gabriel, and he's forced off to be replaced by Raheem Sterling.
22' Koscielny scores, but it's ruled out for offside! Ozil is clumsily tripped over by Kompany as they battle down the right flank, resulting in a free-kick for Arsenal in a dangerous position. It's curled into the box and pinballs around before falling to Koscielny in front of goal, but, despite volleying the ball into the back of the net smartly, the defender's celebrations are short-lived as the linesman's flag is quickly raised.
20' Silva weaves his way into the left-hand side of the Arsenal penalty area on a clever run before poking the ball back to De Bruyne. The Belgian then attempts to find his team-mate once again with a dink forward, but it's closed down well and fails to reach the Spaniard.
18' Navas, who has started the game brightly, gets himself into a good position deep down the right wing once again before firing a low cross into the penalty area. It fails to find a team-mate before rolling out to Clichy, who then thumps a 20-yard strike comfortably over the top of the crossbar.
17' Granit Xhaka initially does well to win back possession for Arsenal but, under pressure in the middle of the pitch, loses out to Fernandinho before fouling the Brazilian. The resulting free-kick is curled over to the far post and finds Kompany, who is unable to make decent contact with the ball and pokes it out for a goal-kick.
15' Silva goes close! City immediately push forward before Silva does well to latch on to a dinked cross from Aguero, but he too is denied thanks to a smart save from Cech.
14' Chance for Giroud! Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain does well to skip past Leroy Sane deep down the right wing before chipping a delightful cross right on to the head of Giroud. The striker rises high above his marker and sends a looping header towards Claudio Bravo, who easily deals with the effort.
13' Ouch! City try to counter-attack quickly after dealing with the danger but are unable to do so after Silva is clattered into by Gabriel. The City players and fans all appeal for a yellow card, but the referee only gives the defender a stern talking to.
12' Arsenal move the ball around nicely as they push forward on their first decent attack of the afternoon. Alexis Sanchez spins round his marker and tees up Monreal, who then fires a low cross into the middle of the box that looks set to find the Chilean once again. However, Yaya Toure is there to make sure that the attacking midfielder can't get a shot away.
10' De Bruyne steps up and swings the resulting set-piece into the penalty area and right on to the head of Kompany, but the captain's downward header bounces comfortably wide of the goal before the referee awards a free-kick to Arsenal for pushing.
9' Vital interception by Koscielny! Silva picks up the ball midway inside the Arsenal half of the pitch and immediately sends a beautiful pass into the path of Sergio Aguero. The striker darts into the box and looks set to go one-on-one with Cech, but, after initially being beaten, Koscielny does well to poke the ball out for a corner at the vital moment.
7' David Silva and Jesus Navas link up well deep down the right wing as the two Spaniards find a pocket of space. The latter then tries to whip a low cross into the penalty area, but he's closed down quickly by Nacho Monreal and can't get the better of the left-back.
6' Another lofted pass is fired forward as Arsenal try to get the better of City's back four, but Laurent Koscielny's ball towards Ozil is slightly underhit and is easily dealt with by Gael Clichy.
4' Nicolas Otamendi catches Mesut Ozil as the German tries to break away on a counter-attack, resulting in a free-kick for Arsenal inside their own half of the pitch. It's thumped forward by Cech and towards Olivier Giroud, who can't reach the ball before fouling Vincent Kompany.
2' City immediately go on the front foot as they try to cause the Arsenal back line a few problems. They work the ball forward quickly before Kevin De Bruyne tries to test Petr Cech from 25 yards out, but his low shot fails to hit the target.
1' We're off! Arsenal get us underway, attacking from right to left.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Meanwhile, City boss Pep Guardiola has also named an unchanged side to the one that featured in their last outing, with Vincent Kompany featuring in back-to-back games for the first time since the end of October.
Arsene Wenger has decided to name an unchanged Arsenal side to the one that started the victory against Middlesbrough, with Gabriel, Laurent Koscielny and Rob Holding once again featuring in a three-man defence.
Manchester City substitutes: Caballero, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Fernando, Delph, Sterling, Iheanacho.
Manchester City XI (4-2-3-1): Bravo; Navas, Kompany, Otamendi, Clichy; Toure, Fernandinho; De Bruyne, Silva, Sane; Aguero.
Arsenal substitutes: Martinez, Gibbs, Bellerin, Coquelin, Iwobi, Walcott, Welbeck.
Arsenal XI (3-4-2-1): Cech; Gabriel, Koscielny, Holding; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Xhaka, Monreal; Ozil, Sanchez; Giroud.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Both sides enjoyed comfortable wins in the previous round of the competition, with Arsenal thrashing minnows Lincoln City and their opponents today seeing off Middlesbrough away from home. They’ve also enjoyed a relatively even record against one another in recent years, with one win each and two draws coming from the previous four meetings between the two.
As for City, their hunt for Champions League qualification was given a boost last weekend thanks to a comfortable win away to Southampton. It means they’ve now won back-to-back clashes for the first time since the start of March, with those victories bringing to an end what was starting to look like a slightly worrying four-game winless run.
Question marks remain over Wenger’s future heading into the final stretch of the season, and they will only intensify if they crash out of the competition this afternoon. Arsenal have managed to win just three of their previous eight games in all competitions, with Middlesbrough narrowly beating beaten on Monday evening. They haven’t won against a current top-half side since September, although they did hold City to a 2-2 draw in their previous meeting at the start of the month.
With Chelsea through thanks to yesterday’s action-packed win against Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal will be aiming to make this season’s FA Cup final the first all-London affair since 2002, when the Gunners won the Double with a 2-0 victory against the Blues. They’ll have to be at their very best today though, as it’s been a disappointing and demoralising few weeks for Arsene Wenger’s men.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s FA Cup semi-final between Arsenal and Manchester City at Wembley.
