  • 59'
Wayne Veysey: "It has all gone a bit flat here as the two teams cancel each other out. The biggest cheer of the second half was when van Persie ran along the touchline to begin warming up. It is probably only a matter of time before the man-of-the-moment joins proceedings and replaces the disappointing Park, who has looked rather heavy-footed."

  • Wayne Veysey at The Emirates: "A smattering of applause from both sets of supporters at the end of a first half that was end-to-end for the opening half-hour before fizzling out in the lead-up to the break when Marseille began to sit back and opt for the counter-attack. Andre Ayew has lived up to his reputation as one of the most exciting talents in French football with an explosive performance on the left flank. Ramsey was shaking his head as he left the field, perhaps a consequence of blowing the best opportunity that came Arsenal's way when he hesitated with his close-range shot."
  • HALF TIME! Both sides are level after the visitors had best chances early on, but Arsenal came more into the game later, but are lacking a cutting edge.

  • 24''s Wayne Veysey at The Emirates: "We have got a corking atmosphere here, embellished by the wonderfully vocal Marseille followers. And the game has been pretty good too. Marseille raced out of the blocks and caught Arsenal by surprise with the fluency and speed of their attacks, but the home side have come back in to the game now and have created some good opportunities. There might not be eight goals tonight but there should be a couple, at least."
