Summer signing Martin Caceres gave the visitors a 2-1 victory in an Andalucian derby...
Martin Caceres scored the winner after Jose Rondon and Alfaro had traded goals at the outset of the contest. Luis Fabiano and Jesus Navas were both absent due to injury for Sevilla.
The hosts took the lead early on through Rondon, who pounced on a rebound following a chaotic corner to put them ahead after just a quarter of an hour.
Los Nervionenses response was almost immediate, with Alfaro tucking away a cross from Argentine starlet Diego Perotta just six minutes later to level matters.
It was Caceres who decided the match at the end of the first-half. Former Atalanta midfielder Tiberio Guarente's curling cross was headed in by the energetic Uruguayan on the stroke of half-time.
The remaining part of the game had only scoring opportunities that were few and far between with Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo failing to take his chance as he struck the post early in the second-half.
Malaga nor Sevilla truly impressed as the match wore on and it certainly was not a spectacle for the football purists, but Sevilla will be happy enough with their start to the domestic season and the three points.
