Tusker joins Goal in celebrating the English Premier League stars, who have vision and seen a life beyond football

From signing for top football clubs to getting endorsement deals from top brands, the top footballers have one of the world's most profitable careers.

But despite many of them raking in millions of dollars from their football career, a number of English Premier League footballers are not resting on their oars. They are investing in businesses and getting ready for life after football.

Here, Goal parades five players from the Premier League and their side-hustles.

  • Petr Cech Arsenal 2018-19

    Petr Cech

    Cech is known for his prowess on the pitch for Chelsea and Arsenal. He has been one of the top goalkeepers for more than ten years. But did you know that the keeper, is also a part-time member of the local band Eddie Stoilow? Yes, he is a musician and whenever he is not on the pitch he is playing the drums for the band.

    Something worth noting is that he has even played in the 'Rock the People' festival and provided the rhythm for the band's cover of the Nirvana classic ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’ The former international has his own Youtube channel that has seen him cover artists like Ed Sheeran, Linkin Park and Rihanna. 

  • Ryan Bertrand

    Ryan Bertrand

    He has been doing well for Southampton since joining from Chelsea a couple of seasons ago. But his life does not solely dependent on football; since Bertrand is an entrepreneur.

    Bertrand launched a fin-tech brokerage firm Silicon Market in 2015, a company that offers All technology products to traders and retail investors. The fullback has been an investor since he hit 18 years.

    He also co-owns -with former Chelsea teammate John Terry, a FootiEmoji, an app that allows users to send emojis of high profile players.

    Theo Walcott

    The former Southampton and Arsenal star, who currently plays for Everton FC, has been doing better in writing.

    Walcott has so far managed to publish four books, T.J. and the Penalty, T.J. and the Hat-Trick, T.J. and the Winning Goal and T.J and the Cup Run. All these books were published in the year 2010 in a space of four months.

    Walcott has also written his autobiography Theo-Growing Up Fast, a book that caused controversy especially with the way he described former England manager Fabio Capello.

    It is expected that Walcott will continue in the world of publishing once his football career is over.

  • Yakubu Aiyegbeni

    Yakubu Aiyegbeni

    The talented central striker has over the years played for several foreign clubs, including Middlesbrough, EvertonLeicester City and recently turned out for Coventry City.

    Aiyegbeni has investments in real estate, with properties in England and Nigeria. In his hometown, Benin City, he runs a hotel business and owns a number of petrol stations.

    Michael Owen

    He shone for both Liverpool and England during his playing times before making a move to Real Madrid.

    After retiring, owing to an injury ridden career, the former England striker decided to venture into business. He owns several racehorses that have done better in the sport. He also appeared in a Persil advert where he earned a reported 1M pounds. 

    He also starred in a TV drama show Hero to Zero and has also appeared in sports channels as a pundit.
