Mamelodi Sundowns stars were the biggest winners on Sunday night in the Premier Soccer League awards, where head coach Rhulani Mokwena claimed the PSL Coach of the Season award. Mokwena fended off competition from rivals Jose Riveiro of Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United's Gavin Hunt.

Mokwena, and Peter Shalulile, who won the Golden Boot, have vowed to come back stronger next season, supposedly hinting at refining their game to reach the final of the Caf Champions League as they bombed out in the semi-finals this season.

Meanwhile, Teboho Mokoena's Footballer of the Season award appears to have left a bitter taste in some sections of Mzansi football, with others preferring Orlando Pirates' Monnapule Saleng as their best player this season. Saleng bagged two cup titles, and outscored Mokoena in the league, even though the Sundowns midfielder played an anchoring role in Masandawanana's league success.
