Mesut Ozil aims hilarious dig at Atletico Madrid over new blue card sin-bin trial as Real Madrid legend makes ‘six players’ jibe

There have been reports which mention that the International Football Association Board (IFAB) has approved the introduction of a Blue card as part of a sin-bin trial which will see players being sent off the field for 10 minutes for committing cynical fouls - infractions that prevent a promising attack - or dissent. Diego Simeone's men are known to play a rough brand of football with players having the license to lunge into often reckless tackles. Ozil had faced the brunt of Atletico's combative tactics on the pitch during his stint with Los Blancos and the former midfielder could not resist to take a dig at the derby rivals after the sin-bin reports surfaced.

Ozil wrote on X: "So Atletico Madrid will only play with 6 players then? 🤔🟦".

It seems that Ozil continues to be a Madridista at heart even after departing the club more than a decade ago. Indeed, the Arsenal great had earlier revealed that he cried on the plane to the UK after leaving Real Madrid in a deadline-day transfer to join the Gunners back in 2013 in a £42.5million (€50 million) transfer.

Spoils were shared in the recent meeting between the two Spanish giants as Atletico found an equaliser deep in stoppage time through Marcos Llorente after Brahim Diaz put Carlo Ancelotti's men in front in the first half. Real Madrid will be back in action against Girona on Friday, whereas, Simeone will lead his troops against Sevilla two days later away from home.
