According to the player's representative, Appollis attracted interest from Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Esperance, MC Alger and Zamalek.&nbsp; However, due to complications, Appollis remains with Rise and Shine, with Glyn Binkin offering more insight into the events that unfolded.

WHAT HAPPENED?

“Chiefs and Sundowns both met Polokwane and engaged with them but I was not present at these discussions,” Binkin revealed to <a href="https://www.timeslive.co.za/sunday-times/sport/2024-09-22-polokwane-city-just-wont-let-appollis-go--agent/" target="_blank">Sunday Times</a>.&nbsp;“There were a number of offers brought to the table for them (City) to consider (both locally and abroad), but they showed no real interest in doing a deal.“In these situations, it’s the club’s prerogative whether they sell or not. What complicated this situation is that the club (City) told me they would sell, and what transfer fee they would accept. And when I was able to negotiate that fee from the buying club, I was unable to get hold of the club,” he added.“In such situations, time is of the essence, and in respect of the initial offer from Esperance, due to lack of response from Polokwane City, after a number of weeks, Esperance moved on and purchased another player.”

WHAT WAS SAID?

“The frustration for Oswin is that, what he would have earned in terms of such a transfer would have been life-changing for him and his family, while at the same time his club would have earned a significant amount,” Binkin continued.“So all the parties would have benefitted from such a transaction. Nonetheless, he is now focused on doing his job for the club, and we’re hopeful we can revisit this situation in the next transfer window.&nbsp;Speaking on Sundowns, Binkin revealed, “So they can afford to pay substantial amounts of money for players, but they can only purchase a limited number of players, and the South African market must understand that.“What the selling club has to realise is that the buying clubs have a number of options. If they don’t get their specific target, they’ll simply move on, especially in the case of South African players who, until recently, do not have a good track record of doing well outside (the country).“More often than not, South African clubs price their players out of the market, and are unreasonable in their expectations of what their players are worth, more especially when one looks a how much they pay them. Often transfer fees by selling clubs in the PSL are quoted because ‘Sundowns paid X for player A, so we want Y for player B’ which is, more often than not, totally out of context, he concluded.

AND WHAT MORE?

Binkin also mentioned that Appollis has a long-term contract with Polokwane. However, with the January transfer window approaching in a few months, there could be another chance for the player to make a move.

With his transfer to another club thwarted, Appollis would be eager to maintain his spot in the starting lineup at City and to shine in his performances for both club and country.&nbsp;He may see action in the starting XI when Polokwane faces Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League on Tuesday, September 24.
