    WHAT HAPPENED?

AmaZulu started their 2024-25 Premier Soccer League campaign with straight losses against Polokwane City, Kaizer Chiefs, and Marumo Gallants, respectively.

The management then opted to part ways with coach Pablo Franco Martin and his assistant Aitor van den Brule on Monday night.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In the wake of Martin's exit, Benni McCarthy and Stuart Baxter are the names that have been mentioned.

However, it is Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen who has been heavily linked with the vacant seat at the Premier Soccer League side.

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder won the second-tier title with Magesi to get the PSL ticket. They have so far collected four points from as many matches played in South African top-flight football.

It has been rumoured that Larsen will be assisted by Vusumuzi Vilakazi who is coaching AmaZulu's reserve team. The club's president Sandile Zungu has, however, refuted the claims.

    WHAT ZUNGU SAID

"This is the first time I have heard that we are going to hire Larsen. All I know is that he has a contract with Magesi. Wait, we will announce the new coach soon," the administrator told Isolezwe.

    WHAT NEXT?

With the international break just starting, Usuthu have some time to put their house in order before the Premier Soccer League resumes.

It is vital for AmaZulu to get instant results to avoid relegation struggles later in the season.
