  • Mame Niang

    #10 Mame Niang

The Senegalese striker arrived in South Africa in 2005 to join Moroka Swallows, and after a stint in Europe among other continents abroad, Niang returned to the country to play for the likes of AmaTuks, Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United and Vasco Da Gama among other teams.

Niang scooped the PSL top goalscorer award while with Swallows in the 2005/06 season with 14 goals.

  • James Chamanga

    #9 James Chamanga

The former Zambia international will always be remembered for the five goals he scored for Moroka Swallows against Platinum Stars in the 2007/08 season.

Chamanga went on to win the PSL top goalscorer award that season with 14 goals.

  • Knowledge Musona - Kaizer Chiefs 2011

    #8 Knowledge Musona

Musona took the PSL by storm soon after his arrival in the country in 2009.

And he would top the goalscoring charts with 17 goals at the end of the 2010/11 before being sold to German Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim.

  • Tico Tico Bucuane - Jomo Cosmos.j

    #7 Christopher Katongo

Katongo is the star who scored 15 goals in 15 matches for Jomo Cosmos before leaving for Brondby.

He would return to the country to collect his PSL top goalscorer award at the end of the 2006/07 as no one managed to beat his tally.

  • Excellenct Walaza & Gilbert Mushangazike

    #6 Gilbert Mushangazike

Mushangazike played for three clubs in the PSL, including two stints with Orlando Pirates.

But it was at Manning Rangers where the retired Zimbabwean really proved to be an excellent striker. He scored 19 goals and consequently walked away with the Golden Boot in the 2000/01 season before going to China.

  • Wilfred Mugeyi - Umthatha Bush Bucks

    #5 Wilfred Mugeyi

Another Zimbabwean who cemented his legendary status in the PSL due to his goalscoring prowess during his playing days.

Mugeyi was the league's top goalscorer with 22 goals during the 1996/97 PSL campaign.

  • Dennis Lota

    #4 Dennis Lota

The late Zambian striker was no doubt in a class of his own as he scored some important goals during his playing career in the PSL.

It was in the 1999/00 season when Lota made scoring fashionable with 18 goals to his name and the Golden Boot award on top of that.

  • Williams Okpara and Raphael Chukwu - Pirates v Sundowns

    #3 Raphael Chukwu

Chukwu didn't top the goalscoring charts in the PSL during his time in South Africa but he was a lethal striker.

He scored a total of 63 goals in the PSL during his playing days.

  • Ted Mbesuma and Khan - Kaizer Chiefs

    #2 Collins Mbesuma

The burly striker is among the best strikers to have graced the PSL and while he played for a number of big clubs including Moroka Swallows, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, it was at Kaizer Chiefs where Mbesuma left a mark.

He scored 25 league goals, and 35 across all competitions in his second season with Amakhosi in the 2004/05 season. Mbesuma has scored 103 top-flight goals in South Africa.

  • Tico Tico Bucuane - Jomo Cosmos

    #1 Manuel Bucuane

Bucuane never won the top goalscorer award in the PSL but he is certainly one of the best African strikers to have played in South Africa.

He scored a total of 104 goals during his time in the league.
