    #1 Blunt attack

Tanzania’s performance up-front was uninspiring, considering they only managed to register a shot on target for the duration of the game and had five shots in total as against their opponents who were firing on all cylinders, registering 16 shots.

    #2 Poor defence

Tanzania conceded three goals in this encounter and it could have been more but for Algeria's strikers failing to convert their chances. The Taifa Stars recovered 38 balls against their opponents' 53, and made two tackles compared to Algeria’s seven.

    #3 Islam Slimani’s influence

Despite his uninspiring performances at the club level, he continued to show his importance in the national team. The forward scored and assisted with two other goals to help the Desert Foxes claim a comfortable victory over the Taifa Stars.

Slimani has now been directly involved in five of Algeria’s last eight goals in the Africa Cup of Nations.
