Three more withdrawals: Germany women must make major changes to their plans

The German Football Association (DFB) announced on Thursday that Bibiane Schulze Solano (muscular injury), Selina Cerci (knee problems) and Larissa Mühlhaus (infection) will miss the stern tests against Australia and Japan. Head coach Christian Wück has responded by calling up centre-back Luzie Zähringer from the U19s. The 18-year-old is currently playing in the Bundesliga for VfB Stuttgart on loan from Bayern Munich Women.

Before those latest setbacks, Wück had already been forced into major changes to the squad he named last week. Captain Giulia Gwinn suffered lateral ankle ligament damage last Saturday and Sarai Linder has replaced her. Nicole Anyomi has also come in for Vivien Endemann, who is injured in the calf. Experienced defenders Rebecca Knaak and Kathrin Hendrich were unavailable from the outset through injury, while first-choice goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger is being given a rest.

Friday's match against Australia in Karlsruhe (8.30pm/ZDF) and Tuesday's game against Japan in Bremen (5.45pm/ARD) mark the start of the DFB women's preparations for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil (24 June to 25 July).
