Genoa are targeting a return to Serie A. Marta Carissimi wants to do it properly and is building a squad capable of taking the club back to the top level quickly. The latest arrival is Valentina Cernoia, the 1991-born midfielder with a magical left foot who has previously played for Brescia, Juventus and AC Milan. Cernoia, a free agent, has signed a one-year contract until 2027. Her honours list is stacked: 7 Serie A titles, 6 Coppa Italia trophies and 6 Italian Super Cups. Across her career, she has made 403 appearances in all competitions and scored 66 goals, while for Italy she has 78 caps and 14 goals.

Star-studded transfer window
Cernoia is not the only summer arrival. Genoa have moved to Como Women for two reinforcements who raise the quality of the squad. The first is Giulia Rizzon, a central defender born in 1993. The second is Miriam Picchi, a talented midfielder born in 1997. Added to the list of new signings are goalkeeper Alessia Capelletti, on loan from Juventus, and defender Cafferata, formerly of Juventus, who arrived from Lazio.
Summer schedule
Genoa Women will head to a training camp in Sondalo, in the province of Sondrio, from 2 to 12 August. Before their league debut in Bologna, the Rossoblu will play two friendlies: Como Women on 7 August at 5pm in Sondalo, and Como 1907 on 13 August at 10.30am in Erba.
