With Group C still wide open, whoever wins at Parc des Princes stand the chance of progressing to the knockout stage of the elite European competition

PSG are aware that Liverpool's strength lies in their physique, according to Eric Choupo-Moting but the Cameroon international and his teammates are ready to grab the maximum points for their fans in Wednesday’s Uefa Champions League encounter.

The French champions and last season's Champions League finalists will square up against each other at Parc des Princes to determine their fate for the next round.

Jurgen Klopp's side and Napoli are joint Group C leaders with six points from five matches while third-placed PSG have garnered five points from the same number of games.

With Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in a race against time to be fit, Choupo-Moting is in contention for a starting role and has highlighted the importance of the fixture but reiterated that the Parisians are out to prove a point for their fans.

"We have two important games but for me, it’s very clear that the winner between us and Liverpool will go through," Choupo-Moting told Mirror Football.

"We have the quality to beat Liverpool and as a team, we are in a very good moment.

"It's true as players when it comes to the Champions League we have to show more to our fans that we deserve to be favorites and no one in the dressing room is hiding from that.

"The strength of Liverpool is their physique. They don’t sit back they will try to come for us but we are playing at home and we have world champions in our team.

“I know Klopp from his Dortmund days and he always plays impressive football. He will try to press and make a statement but we are PSG and we know what this game will mean to our fans.”

The 29-year-old spent a season in the English top-flight scoring five goals in 30 league appearances in Stoke City's underwhelming 2017-18 campaign.

Following the Potters' drop to the Championship, Choupo-Moting was reunited with his former boss at Mainz 05, Thomas Tuchel on the summer transfer deadline day.

The Cameroonian forward has enjoyed a promising start to life in Paris with a goal in five league games but he gave an 'honest' verdict about the English Premier League compared to the German Bundesliga and the French Ligue 1.

"I am going to be very honest here, the English League is the most competitive and the best," he continued.

"You have so many big teams who are capable of challenging for the title and pushing everyone to his limit.

“But the French league is also not easy because it’s very physical and demands a lot of you.

“Things are going well in PSG with good teammates and great team spirit I could not ask for more at this stage.”
