This is how you make your boss look smart!
Wednesday afternoon it was announced that U.S. national team boss Bruce Arena had called up F.C. Dallas midfielder Kellyn Acosta to the roster for the team's upcoming World Cup qualifiers, jumping him over other established MLS veterans like Sacha Kljestan and Benny Feilhaber.
Wednesday night, Acosta made that move look pretty slick with his goal in the CONCACAF Champions League.
With Dallas playing the first leg of the CCL semifinals at home and level at 1-1 with Mexican club Pachuca, Acosta blasted home a free kick to put Dallas into the lead.
The goal proved to be the winner for the MLS side, with the second leg scheduled for April 4 in Mexico.
Acosta has been on a roll in 2017, scoring four goals in five competitive matches, and Arena will be hoping he can bring that form into the national side, with the USA facing a must-win game against Honduras on March 24.
