Afelokhai has placed second fiddle to Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Fatau Dauda in the goalkeeping department for the People’s Elephant since the beginning of the season and only featured in his first game on the continent in Bamako.
Abdallah lauded the patience of the former Kano Pillars goalkeeper who waited for his time and seized it ideally against Djoliba.
“We are delighted with the form of Afelokhai against Djoliba. We had a chance and he seized it with both hands. I believe he should be in contention for the Man of the Match award.
“Besides the form of Afelokhai, his teammates also contributed their part to ensure that we did not concede a goal in Bamako. It was a good performance from us and we must build on this ahead of our game with Djoliba.”
Dauda kept seven games on the continent this season while Ezenwa and Afelokhai shared the remaining two games one apiece but the Ghanaian was dropped from the trip to Bamako entirely and thus allowing the remaining duo to have the chance of adding to the few games they have been involved in.
It was Enyimba’s fifth clean-sheet in the nine matches they have played but only two of them have come from away fixtures.
Enyimba climbed to second in Group C with nine points from five games behind CARA Brazzaville who are ahead because of superior goals difference.
