Los Rojiblancos have been in remarkable form under Jorge Sampaoli so far this season, winning 12 of their 18 Liga games to date while also qualifying for the Champions League knockout stage.

And Sevilla shocked the footballing world when they ended Real's 40-match unbeaten run in all competitions on Sunday, downing Zinedine Zidane's men 2-1 in the league.

However, the club's president claims the league title is “not for Sevilla” and insists finishing inside the top four remains the target.

Speaking to Cadena SER about the prospect of a first Liga crown for Sevilla since 1946, Carmona said: "We are very satisfied but we have to keep our feet on the ground - the league is not for us, it is for Real Madrid and Barcelona to try and win.

"We are realists, we do not give up anything but our goal is to qualify for the Champions League."

One negative during Sevilla's fine season, though, is speculation surrounding the future of sporting director Monchi.

The 48-year-old, who was also linked with both Manchester United and Everton last summer, has been one of the main driving forces behind Sevilla winning five Europa League titles since 2006, ensuring the club have continued to remain a force with despite regularly losing star players.

However, Monchi - who has spent nearly 17 years with Sevilla - is being linked with a switch to Serie A outfit Roma and Carmona has suggested a departure could be on the cards.

He added: "You cannot force someone to be where they do not want to be."
