The Covert Agent: Newcastle Jets to sign attacking trio including Brazilian striker

The Jets are set to add some considerable fire power

After a careful recruitment process, Newcastle Jets will triple their off-season signings to date next week with a trio of attackers expected to seal deals in the Hunter.

The Covert Agent can reveal Brazilian striker Jair Eduardo Britto da Silva, former Melbourne Victory winger Mitch Austin and Avondale forward Kaine Sheppard are all set to put pen to paper with the club.

Having only signed Matthew Ridenton to date and with Roy O'Donovan serving a ten-game suspension, Ernie Merrick has taken his time settling on some much-needed recruits.

South American Britto da Silva should add some spice to the Jets attack and though failing to score across a recent short stint with Chinese League One club Yanbian Funde, has previously proved effective in front of goal for K-League side Jeonnam Dragons where he scored 26 goals across two seasons.

Austin meanwhile has battled back from an ACL injury that kept him sidelined last season for Victory and is no stranger to the region having enjoyed a successful stint with Central Coast Mariners in 2015.

Victorian Premier League product Sheppard has peaked the excitement of the Jets with the 24-year-old set to get his first taste of A-League action after scoring 14 goals across 20 games for Avondale.

The English-born striker has previously played in England and Finland, with his big frame an asset Merrick is keen to make the most of.
