Exclusive: The deputy Ghana coach is backing the fit-again centre-back to excel in the German topflight despite its challenges

Ghana assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko reveals he has been in close contact with defender Kasim Nuhu Adams following his move to German side TSG Hoffenheim

After excelling in Switzerland with Young Boys, the 23-year-old crossed carpets to Germany, signing for Die Kraichgauer on a five-year deal.

He made his debut in a 3-1 defeat to giants Bayern Munich, before picking up an injury in his second game against Freiburg, a situation that has left him with only two league appearances for his new side thus far.

"I always speak to Kasim," Tanko, who won the 1997 Uefa Champions League with Borussia Dortmund during his playing days, told Goal

"He always calls me because he knows I played in Germany for so long. He tries to call me whenever he has any questions.

"He saw the toughness of the Bundesliga in his first game which came against Bayern Munich.

"If you play your first game against none other than Bayern, you will be made to realize that you are in a different league.

"I think he did very well in his first game and I encouraged him to continue. They have a very good coach too and they play a three-back system, so it’s ultimately good that he chose Hoffenheim.

"I understand that the likes of Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg were all after his signature.

"It’s good that he chose them because of their coach and the type of football they play."

Back in training after the injury layoff, Kasim is expected to make his third appearance for Hoffenheim when they play away to Nurnberg on Saturday.

He is also tipped to return for national duty next month when Ghana face Ethiopia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, having been left out of the last two recent squads.
