The Malawian found the net as her side thrashed the league champions in the final to win the Chinese Women’s FA Cup on Saturday

Tabitha Chawinga was on target in Jiangsu Suning's 3-0 victory over Asisat Oshoala’s Dalian Quanjian in China's Women FA Cup final second leg encounter on Saturday.

Both African strikers were hoping for a second Chinese title in the 2018 season as Chawinga had won a Women’s Championship title, while Oshoala retained the topflight league diadem.

For accolades, the Nigerian, who won the topscorer gong with 13 goals in the 2017 season, finished seven-goal behind the Malawian, who scored 17 goals to nick the golden boot this term.

Hopes of ending her season on the high ahead of this month’s Africa Women’s Cup of Nations suffered a big blow as Oshoala’s side lost 4-0 at home in the final, first leg to Chawinga's team.

The worse happened on Saturday as strikes from Chawinga, Wang Xiaoxue and Ni Mengjie condemned Oshoala and her Dalian side to a 7-0 aggregate defeat at the Wutaishan Stadium, Nanjing.

Both African duo are expected to go toe-to-toe again in the Chinese Super Cup scheduled for November, but Oshoala is unlikely to be available due to her Awcon engagement with Nigeria.

And the reigning Africa’s Women Player of the Year will be hoping to win continental showpiece in Ghana in the bid to retain her individual accolade in the absence of Chawinga and Malawi.
