The cup match, which also doubles as the Super League opener, will pit last year's league champions and title holders JDT against 2016 Malaysia Cup champions Kedah, at the Southern Tigers' home ground the Tan Sri Dato Haji Hassan Yunos Stadium.
Despite the fact that JDT have not lost at home in all competitions since November 2015, the 28-year old wants the Red Eagles to add to the Malaysia Cup title they won last year by defeating JDT in front of their own fans.
"Last year we lifted the Malaysia Cup, so I hope we can begin the coming season with another title, just to motivate us," said the Malaysia international when met by the press following Kedah's 2-0 friendly win over Felcra FC on Wednesday.
However he revealed that he may not recover in time for the league opener himself, due to the injury he picked up playing for Malaysia in the 2016 AFF Cup in November last year.
"I may not get to play in the cup, as I'm just recovering from injury, and still working on my fitness. So I may miss one or two of Kedah's first matches," said Syazwan.
The Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Cup match will be played on Friday, January 20.
