Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs learn Caf opponents

Three of South Africa's big teams have advanced to the next round of this season's Caf competitions, and their opponents have now been revealed. 

Mamelodi Sundowns will face Ahli Benghazi of Libya after making lightweight of Leones Vegetarianos in the preliminary rounds, beating 7-1 on aggregate.

The 2016 Caf Champions League champs are looking to qualify for the group stages of this season's edition which has a different format to that of the previous campaign.

Orlando Pirates will make a short trip to Namibia to face African Stars. 

The Buccaneers booked their place in the first round after beating Light Stars 8-2 on aggregate, while African Club narrowly beat Volcan Club 2-1 on aggregate to set up a date with Micho Sredojevic's men. 

Kaizer Chiefs are the only PSL team still in the Caf Confederation Cup following their 5-2 aggregate win over Zimamoto. 

Amakhosi advanced despite their 2-1 away loss to Zimamoto, but their next assignment will not be easy. 

They have been pitted against Elgeco Plus of Madascagar, and Giovanni Solinas knows that he cannot afford to put a foot a wrong this time with a chance to qualify for the group stages at stake. 

Elgeco Plus are the current Cuoupe de Madagascar champions - the trophy which they won earlier this year. 

All the three South African teams will play their matches on the weekend of December 14-16, 2018. 

Free State Stars crashed out of the Caf Confederation Cup after going down 1-0 on aggregate to Mukura in the preliminary rounds.
